I got Manhunt vibes from this scene. The masks and the way the main character is brutally killing them makes this feel like a Manhunt movie. It would be sick to see if they make Manhunt into a movie or Condemned because those two horror games deserve to be made into movies.

What a co-incidence! The actor playing General Smiley did some of the voices on Manhunt II.
I literally was about to comment how Manhunt like this scene feels compared to the rest of the purge movies. Like even down to the sound design it just has this grimey weighted feeling to it.

@@ale_1825 There is a TON of social commentary in these films. While some of it can be pretty heavy handed and all, it does a fairly good job of reflecting what society is like and sadly might be heading to if things don't get better.

Yes, you could argue that, soon as the siren goes, the regular disciplinary procedures can be put in place but they can just use the same defence as Joe Public "What happens on Purge Night, stays on Purge Night, I'll be going back on duty now..."
These weren't government agents, these were Mercenaries. Earlier in the movie Dmitri identify one of the operatives' bodies with a blackwater tattoo.
And who tends to make up the bulk of mercenary units? People who worked for the government.

@@marcuspendergraft739 Because science fiction isn't just space movies. This movie would fit well in a ray bradbury book or as a short on the twilight zone. Alternate timelines/realities/dimensions. 1984 was a sci fi book because of the alternate reality that people in the book were living in. Extremist societies are considered sci fi because they are alien to our own society. They entertain extremes that reality finds weird or shocking.

This is actually super realistic, if there really was a Purge for the reasons the movie says they instituted it, you can bet the government would pretty much just be sicking military forces or paramilitary on people for depopulation.
