Few months ago,i put a sticker on my car back window
It says " The closer you get,the slower i go"
You be surprised how people react 😂
I have seen those stickers and have always been interested in how people respond to them. Does it work or do some folk see it as a challenge and drive closer?
I had one on my car for years, made some people worst and others did back off, now if tailgated I dont brake I just lift my left foot and allow car to slow down most cars soon back off
@@robshorts it does work every now and then 70% of the time is a challenge game.
I once stopped where there was literally no way for the tailgater to pass me, got out of my car, opened the boot and invited him. He kept a little bit of distance after that.

I also go slower when a Banker gets too close, my dad's been doing that for over 50 odd years

My dad had a LIME GREEN skoda estelle coupe back in the early 80s and I remember my mum driving back from Carrefour (a supermarket chain in the W. Midlands) with the hand brake on the whole way, about 12 miles. It was so slow anyway she didn't realise she had the hand brake on😂
I had a similar experience (or rather, the other half did) when the handbrake cable seized up. She continued to drive and on coming home said "there's something wrong". On checking it out, I found that the drums were red hot! I ended up having to replace not only the cable, but both brake cylinders and the brake shoes too!!
Tailgaters: Because my car is mainly used for German trackwork... when I can get over there, it has racing brakes. I do wonder what these people are thinking when they tailgate me... if I have to stop in a genuine emergency, they have no chance. Crash damage will be the least of their worries, my car is my baby...
Youre right, slowing down is the best way of dealing with them.
I passed my test 6 months ago and I sometimes have cars kissing my boot cos they don’t like the fact I’m driving at the speed limit
Yes, I have seen some accidents that are initially baffling. I've seen cars in places that you couldn't put them with a crane. I've seen crashes on straight roads where no-one elses was involved.
I've seen lots of police tape in bushes lately. The recent spell of wet weather has not been kind on premium German car drivers and their lead weighted shoes.
There was one of those kind of accidents near me where a Ford Focus had somehow ended up going through the plate glass window and parked in a hairdressers shop. My first thought was joy riders or a drunk driver. Completely wrong. According to the local paper, the car was an automatic and the elderly driver had confused the brake and the accelerator.

First video: that's true. Have to say I'm doing the same, closer they get, slower I move. I have to make sure that I can react if anything goes wrong, breaking progressively without giving the clown behind any chance to hit me.
I get that a lot in a half mile train of traffic on the way to work. I kind of do the same - I double the gap in front (which is already generous) to incorporate the other guys braking distance.
The number of times I had drivers like that Merc that drive right up your back end, but unlike that Merc, they continue to drive right up behind, even when it's safe to overtake.

Great video as usual, I can't believe they charge to drop off at an airport straight away, here in Ireland they give you 15 minutes grace which is usually time enough.
I think all airports have a free drop off area (subject to time limit). Problem is they are nowhere near the terminals. Another problem is although they are signposted they’re hard to spot among the other signs. If you know which airport you’re going to and are prepared to walk look for it in the airports web site and study google street view for signage and the lanes you need to be in.
0:25 the safe braking distance at 20mph in the dry is 2 cars length, driving within 1 car length at 30mph is asking for trouble. Slowing down is the only answer to tail gaters
I had a guy today drive up onto the footpath, undertake two vehicles, in order to get into the MacDonald's car park, must have been desperate for a burger.
0:20 drivers like that need to have points given out to them, agree with your point slowing down, cyclists do the exact same things tho we actually stop ✋ the vehicle to have a word with the driver how dangerous it is.
He overtook you on the roundabout too which is something you shouldnt do according to hwc

One query; in the last clip. I think I heard you commence indicating at 14:48 where you were some distance before the junction which the 4x4 was approaching. It may have been he could see your indicators and thought you were turning off at that exit, which is why he entered the roundabout.
I know dash cams exaggerate the distance so you were probably closer than it appears but - just a thought?
If anyone tailgates me i am exactly the same as you. I slow down.
As for the cyclist coming towards you i had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday (i have the footage and i do swear)
Has the law changed now? Are bikes allowed to ride on the road coming towards traffic.

Apparently the police were on the motorway at the Guilford roadworks at the weekend giving tickets to people who left it late to join the slip road! Pls tell me you have this for a future video 😂

I believe the full proper name of that green is "ASBO Green".
Walton-on-the-Hill is _full_ of "don't pull in to a gap to let you past" or "continue driving towards you when you, or they, are overtaking parked cars" drivers.
And for those wondering.... "Who gets priority when overtaking parked cars?"
There are two rules.
By default, the priority goes to whoever's side of the road it is.
_However_ there is an exception. It's called commitment.
If you are already _committed,_ that is, you are _already_ on the wrong side of the road, overtaking parked cars on your side, _then_ the person _who's side of the road it is_ no longer has priority, and must instead wait for you.
There is one small problem.
Mere Road/Walton Street/Chequers Lane is an awful road, in which you literally _can not_ see if a car is coming for most of the time. There are a few areas where a car can pull into to let you past, but what if you, or they, have already passed it? The only thing to do here, is to moan that so many people are parked there all the time, or that the road should be made one-way or something.
another top notch video, it's good to be considerate to drivers at places such as airports, although why the police let that black Audi drive the way it was is another example of how the policing of roads has gone downhill over the years.

I once had a guy overtake me on a narrow country lane, I was doing just shy of the speed limit at the time. He almost hit the car coming the other way and both myself and the driver of the other car had to brake hard to give him space to get through, luckily the road was dry. Around 200m further down the road he almost hit a Royal Mail van that had parked up for a delivery.
Ten minutes later I pulled up directly behind him at a junction, so him almost wiping out a mother with two kids in the car and a postman gained him about 2 metres on me! 🙄

Why do people have to drive right up people arses? I had it once coming home at night. It was one of my first times driving at night and I had some idiot right up my arse so I pulled over and let him pass me. It can make feel very uncomfortable
OY! I had a lime green Vauxhall Corsa, I loved it until my Son destroyed it. That looks like what I would cal a 50 flip, way too fast and lost control gone up the kerb and flipped the car, the posts got in the way. Another good day on the road!

I slow down as well if they continue if I have my lights on just flick my rear fog lamps on and off that works
If someone tailgates you, just grow the gap to the vehicle in front.
First clip, The other good thing about this clown driving so close is that you can clearly read the numberplate "LD72 EDJ", so any copper who is dutiful if their job (so unlikely), can prosecute them and give them a slap on the wrist etc.

Have you considered the lime green car avoided a person using the crossing? Hitting the bike rake and rolling over.
That said, I guess the driver was travelling too fast or/and on their mobile phone.
They could have been avoiding an Audi. 🤣

I ride a motorcycle, around the area you also drive, and as the nights draw in to darkness I find there are more motorcycles on the road..WRONG! There are more car drivers "Thinking" they are motorcycles driving with ONE FUCKING LIGHT!. If I'm not mistaken, a light failure on a car is a MOT failure?! Therefore invalidates insurance?! WTF!!!
So it's not just Gloucestershire where Cars drive around with faulty Lights !

Last week I was on the bypass a lorry in front about 50 MTRS. a cyclist was tailgating the lorry in his slipstream about 2mtrs from him the lorry and I were doing 55 mph I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it

If the green car was an automatic it could be that the driver, possibly elderley, went to brake but put their foot on the accelerator by mistake causing the car to shoot off into the barrier and then flip over, there again something completely might have happened, maybe someone caught the incident on dashcam.
all german performance cars shou;d be banned. and all the people driving them should be restricted to cars with 850cc engines

A pedestrian needs to scrape along its full length and leave an apologetic note. “About the damage caused, as I was forced into the road, I had to get close to your car to avoid an oncoming vehicle so it did not hit me and cause me serious injury. If you felt at risk by the car in the first clip, you could have pulled over and let him pass...saw a bus stop and the roads were dead. You wouldn't have the content though 😜
Why does someone driving the speed limit need to move off the roadway for an asswipe that just wants to speed because they are more important than anyone else? I'll happily pull out of the way for police, fire and ambulances, no need to do so for anyone else.
