After getting a vacation override for a schedule 4 drug, is common practice to make the patient wait 30 days from that override date for a refill or even longer since the override provided it early? I am hearing 30 days after the override is fine but wanted to get your thoughts.
    Thanks

So I have a schedule 4 med that I ended up losing a dose of. I think it rolled off the counter and under something while I was putting everything in one of those pill organizers and then got swept up when my wife was cleaning before I realized there was a problem. Or my dog got it, but I kinda doubt that because I imagine he would have been acting pretty funny if he had. Anyway, I was so worried about being labeled a drug seeker because of how crazy things have gotten that I just spent a day having awful panic attacks instead of talking to the pharmacy. Do pharmacists instantly look at you like a junky if you legitimately lose some medication that happens to be controlled? I worry that if I ever have to go out of town or something else happens and I need anything early that my profile will get flagged and I will be treated like a criminal.I understand why they would have that assumption as I am sure this hapoens far more for controls than regular meds like for BP lol. But it's just frustrating to feel like you did something wrong when you have an issue with a highly regulated medication.

If this happens very occasionally (ie-- once or twice a year), you have nothing to worry about. Pharmacists are always available to help. When this happens, first the pharmacist will call your provider to explain the situation and see if they are willing to write a new prescription. Then, if you have prescription insurance, they will get on the phone to speak with them about a lost prescription override. Some insurances will pay for this once or twice a year; some will not, which means you may have to pay out of pocket. Keep in mind that the pharmacist, your doctor, and the insurance will check to make sure this isn't a routine occurrence, which is just normal due diligence so don’t feel singled out if you see this happening.

Is the override possible with a c4 medication?

It depends on the state. Most pharmacists could do 5 days early on a 30-day prescription. They may work with you to call your doctor should you want it earlier. They will likely approve if you are traveling out of the country for a few months and therefore need a higher day supply.

I filled a 30 Day Schedule IV a day early (Actually a few hours) The pharmacy didn’t have any problem with it. I’m just afraid my doctor will. He’s really picky with filling things early, even a day. I meant to pick them up tomorrow but I had another prescripion ready that I needed now, so they were all basically picked up at the same time. The DEA breathes down the necks of some doctors. I’ve had visits from DEA agents questioning me about him, he got fined a few thousand for overprescribing people in the past, so I think he’s being overly cautious now.

I get no early scripts with oxycodone prescription. There’s been a few times where I’ve ran out early by just a day or two, and once I spilled all 90 of them in the toilet 2 days after getting them and they wouldn’t do it. Unfortunately throughout that month I resulted to getting them from the streets and unknowingly got some fentanyl laced ones and overdosed.

@@theguyinchains7777 just now seeing your reply, and honest to god I did, my medicine cabinet is above my toilet and while trying to open the bottle I pushed too hard and slipped right out of my hand. Yes I have an addiction but I’ve kept it managed, never got out of control or stole from people to feed it. I’ve worked 2 full time jobs, pay my bills, the whole 9 since the beginning of it. I’ve never taken more than the recommended dose nor have I snorted them not even once out of the 8 years I’ve been prescribed them.

@@Pharmacycheckerassuming this person is an addict, malingering/lying and replying with info on abuse is a big part of the problem.
How many legit patients had their rx discontinued abruptly..they did nothing but politicians are cracking down on "improper rx etc"),
it's very quick that severe w.d. will onset and you'll need hospitalization but they only provide detox bc ur now viewed as an addict.
The option of having ER meds delivered to ur home by a "person", when everything has been taken from u including faith in the labyrinth of going from reg Dr to get a referral to a specialist who might or might not rx what u ask/what works for u then to the pharmacy that carries it, then to a refill in 2 weeks then I might cut u off..etc, doesn't seem illogical but is treated as criminal.
The crime of trying to survive when all legit institutions failed u. Not to mention that rehabs are a big business under the same umbrella as big pharma lol some systems are just absurd and brilliant in putting all the blame on you and getting paid no matter what u choose to do.
      What a world.
