The gospel is a gospel of radical inclusion, to who so ever will believe on the Lord Yeshua. Then forsaking all else that is not of his kingdom, leaving lifestyles that don’t reflect the new creation or the transformation that has taken place. I was a gang member and did the things that associated myself with that life style, so I guess it would have been okay to continue in the drive by shootings, stabbings , drunkenness, fooling around, drug use etc. these were the things that made me search for God, because they weren’t filling the void or giving peace. I was at the end of the rope, when a friend of mine asked me to go to church with him. This friend was in the same gang as I and had lost his little brother ( from same gang) in drive-by, yet there was a noticeable peace about him. I went heard the gospel of the Lord Jesus , accepted and have never been the same. I didn’t come on my terms, I came broken ready to do what God required of me and receive what His terms were to receive this peace. If you come to Him and tell Him what your terms are, your not broken ,your not desperate, desperation will cause you to humble yourself and accept His rule in your life. Master , servant, forsaking all else. And if your not ready to, your not ready to be his disciple. This decision costs us everything,at the same time we gain everything. The gathering of the saints is for those who have made this decision and make the effort to continue on the path. Again , it will cost you everything. You are not your own you have been bought with a price, the precious blood of The Lamb.
There is a problem when we try to reconcile our faith with anything else. Our faith should be our identity, and everything else about us should be forced to conform to our faith. When we try to conform our faith to anything else, we’re creating an idol. I know this is something we all struggle with in different areas of life.
