Just an FYI for anyone worried about pay-to-win: The devs changed it on Oct 1 so you're only matched against other players using the same animal pack as you.
The last round there is the most pogged moment ive ever seen. Finish an Octo only to go against a summoner in the last round. Poor guy didnt know what hit him.
What is beautiful and quintessentially NL is that he had no idea that's what the lvl 3 octopus did until he managed to realize at the last second before the round started. I also thought it was just going to be another +8/8 buff or something.
The meta in this game is changing so quickly.. I was 8 wins in with the octo today and went up against full teams of 50/50 animals, the octo's 5 damage did nothing.
@@TheVilivan octo should win against a scorpion unless it was buffed to the point of 6 damage without weakness or 11 with weakness. Cause the scorpion would just die to the trigger.

Stumbled onto an insane combo earlier: Dodo - Tiger - Rhino + melon armor The dodo buffs the rhinos attack through the roof so it almost always gets the first knockout and the melon armor guarantees it doesn't die, this activates the rhino's ability. If the rhino's ability kills an enemy it activates again. Basically you wipe an entire team without even risking taking damage.
@@scrunglee you can draw any lines you want. like how the bat evolved from a single celled organism and weak looks like one. I just choose which line I like most 🤷
I think animal order might matter for the "before combat" style effects, like if you had the Bat behind the Cheetah then the Bat should give weakness to enemies before the Cheetah deals its damage
The battle order you just mentioned only work with pets that have the same stats, when there are pets with different stat, the one who has more stats will go first

when you go for the dog, the animals purchased give forever buffs, while summons only buff temp. I like to go a few spawners and a slot open to cycle buy/sell units
I hit a god build the other day after scraping by with draws and some other losses. Tripled into a Cat with a Parrot on board. Ended up with a board of 30/30s juiced on that delicious canned food getting +8/+8 to the shop nonstop. Got to just outright buy a giant snake and tiger to back up my level 1 pufferfish that ended as a 50/50 on the final round. Felt pogged up.
coming from the future and this is excruciating to watch. really makes me appreciate how goated (and FAST) NL is at this game now. also makes me feel better about sucking when i started playing
Is the expansion pack even good? Some of the animals seem good (especially MVP bat) but more animals also makes it harder to level since you're less likely to find 3 of the same type.
the core pack is based more around in-battle unit interactions (eg chaining on-death summons) and the pay pack is based more on shop management and stat boosts (and its missing most of the pets that make the summon build work). In my experience the expansion pack is probably stronger but the core pack can be more fun
@@heaviside5805 this exactly the free to play pack has more consistency in the early game as well but once you get past the 5-6 turns with the paid pack you should be rolling most free to play builds i personally think both packs have their own ups and downs
the dromedary seems ridiculous. you can just freeze and animal in the store for like 6 turns and let it get +6+6 when you buy while also making other stuff you buy stronger
I saw this vid and went and played it for a few hours. Very fun and got ok with it, finally had a team that was stomping then suddenly faced a match where they just did damage before the rounds, totally nuked my guys with 30/40 HP in one go. Couldn't even figure out the move/combo set which caused it.
I once had a level 3 Eagle with a 1-up. It dropped a level 3 Tiger then a level 3 octopus. Destroyed the team within two attacks (it was a weak team to be fair). It was my tenth win so I have the replay

Yeah, it seems like octopus hardcounters summoning builds but can be countered by just strong units or a scorpion
I once got a 48/50 goose and had a crab behind and a kanga behind that and it was sick.

That's the correct way to play dog imo, leave a slot open in your party to cycle out units instead of pairing with horse for a summon build.

They replace some of the animals, should be the same amount.

should've combined the second lvl 2 octopus separately before combining into lvl 3.
Next time, try to first upgrade the second octopus to get more life for the level 3 octopus
