I love cutting my locs. The neat line, the fullness at the ends, the light weight, the swing. Nothing better
I cut off 32 inches sept 2021 and been growing them for 24 years. My locks were to my ankles. I had the same issues… getting my babies caught in doors, people sitting on it, slight headaches, drying time, styling, etc. Now it’s slightly pass my shoulders. I feel more free and give them more love. With my locks being so long it became an overwhelming task. I can’t wait to see your styling techniques!
Oh my! I’m happy for you!
A lady I met told me she had to let go of her locs because she sat on them too hard once because they were past her butt. When she sat, it pulled a clump of locs out from her scalp. I always remember that while I’m growing my locs.
Omggggggg 😱
@@KeishaCharmaine , ikr!!! It’s a passed down lesson that I won’t forget!! 🤕😓😭
I cut 15" off mine! I was sitting on them or they were always up in a bun! But the biun started to thin the ends. Congrats, your hair, your choice. I felt free and fresh!
Thanks! Congratulations to you too!
That's me... Up in a bun or shutting them in the car door or something!!! 😂🤣😂🤣🤦🏿
I have been growing my locs since 2011 my locs were to middle of my back. I cut my locs to my ears in July of 2021. When my locs were wet they are heavy and pulling my hairline. Don't your hair feel lighter. My hair is now to my shoulders after a year. I feel so much better.
Yes it’s much more comfortable now
I guess I’m going to have to watch this video again because I couldn’t stop looking at your beautiful skin!! Where your pores at sis? Ughhh so beautiful!! Ok, going back. 😄
Congrats on cutting off some of your locs. What a relief right! I got scissor happy. I cut mine from waist length to shoulder length last year and it made me look younger .
I cut my hair because it was starting to go in the toilet so I understand Ur frustration. Am definitely looking forward for those vintage inspired style
Yes I thought you cut it off completely when I saw the notification 🤣🤣🥺
I cut mine too. They got to be too heavy so I cut them into a bob. They will grow back, but I am enjoying the short cut for now.
I completely agree with you and the cutting after it gets to a certain length. I have done my cut twice, going from thigh length to mid back. The first cut is the hardest, it gets easier once that first cut is done and you wont regret it. You also get some relief on your neck etc as they do put added pressure on the neck and scalp when its super long, even if we dont always feel the weight.
You’re right, I think every cut after this will be so much easier. I never thought my hair was heavy but I definitely notice the difference and it feels really good!
I feel you, girl! I cut my locs years ago when I found that I was constantly sitting on them. I maintain them now anywhere from mid-back to waist length and I love them there. They're long enough to do any style I want but still short enough to not be a nuisance! ❤
I love that for you 🖤
Waist length is also my goal and I will also maintain that length. I got locs for the FREEDOM.
I know it feels great! I just cut my almost waist length locs on 12/22/22! It feels great! They were too heavy! I also am going thru a spiritual transformation!
Sis - I've been following you since you first started posting. I grew my hair out with you but when my hair got to my behind it just became too heavy. I felt like my locs were pulling out of my head. I cut them to the middle of my back & now I can style (somewhat) again and my head feels happy. So you did the right thing! Keep going and keep posting. Let's keep this journey going. Sistah Kelly
This is a sign for me. Mines go to my butt and I'm starting to really want a pixie cut lol , every thing you mentioned is starting to annoy me as well. I understand you completely.
Do what's best for you. Don't bother about others. Your health hair is evidence that your products are good. Your Loc journey is yours to share or not. Thanks for sharing!
I feel ya, Hun! I've had & maintained my locs since 1998. I've only had them retwisted by someone else once.
It gets to be too much. So, I've cut my hair 5 times since I've started. It's been so freeing! You do you, Sis!
I've had locs 28yrs+. I've had to keep them trimmed. I take 2-4 inches at least twice a year. I keep them just above waist length ✌🏾💖
Oh wow, thanks for commenting OG! 🖤
@@KeishaCharmaine 🤗🥰🙌🏾
100K Congratulation sis!!!
It's your hair your choice. It'll grow back. I've been thinking of cutting my locs too due to changes in my life.
It's so wonderful to see black women talking about waist length, tailbone length and thigh length hair❤
Tailbone length is my goal too, I’ve always desired long hair and will keep my hair maintained between waist and tailbone but we ain’t all trying to be Asha Mandela out here. I am loving that blunt cut!
You could cut your locs to eyeball length or any length and we would still love YOU because we appreciate YOU my dear ❣️😊
Awww thank you!!! 😂
You finally hit 100k! Congratulations 🎈🎊🍾
I love it! A cut is a cut no matter how much is cut.
Yes I’m so happy to be at this length again
I've been snipping and snapping my locs over these twenty-five years!!!
Do what feel right for you. Do what makes you happy.☺️😊
Sis, you do you. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.
Live your life. ❤
I am glad you decided to do what was best for you because ultimately that is what is most important. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for your support!
Hair getting caught in anything is dangerous. Good for you.
I feel like i'm watching this at just the right time because i've been considering cutting my locs off entirely (and still might). they are at my tailbone right now and i'm feeling a little exhausted with them. they're heavy and i feel like my neck hurts every now and then bc of that. and the maintainence is so time-consuming. but after watching your vid, i might try cutting them to a more manageable length and see how i feel then!! ty for you sharing
I hope you make the best decision for you!
All those up styles thinned my roots for a minute. I had to go rogue for a minute. The roots are back and I'm ready to cut!
Hey Keisha,I saw your new length on your stories when Khafele cut some of your locs. It’s looks great!👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾🙂
Thank you so much 🤗
Girl, do you! Tailbone length is my goal, I'm mid back at 5 years.
*I'm glad that in your headwrap tutorials, you emphasize to rock what you can rock. For the longest, I've seen mostly women styles and very little for men. You just expanded that for me! Personally, i would like to see which ones you consider unisex but I'll take that leap 😄 Much love 🖤💯
I’ll work on getting more male and unisex headwraps styles for you. Thanks for your comment 🤗
Merry Christmas KC!
I cut about 6inches off my initial set of locs and like you said it was barely noticeable. But that length felt better to me
i love it, i have to do a spiritual chop to, been meaning for awhile. Thanks for sharing.
Great job. I clip mine every 3 to 6 months and I still have Great length. I've been doing that since my locs were 8 months. Now in January I will be 12 years loc'd.
I cut mine last year ❤❤❤❤ you can always get them back when you feel to
Omg yessss!! I cut mine this summer. So 8.5 years in. They were just hitting the bottom part of my butt and I could not handle it. My favorite length is waist length and I even love shoulder and bra strap length. But I went with waist length bc I still feel attached to having longer hair. I felt relieved too and so excited. It was like I got a whole new look!! Still love It 6mos later and won’t think twice when it’s time to cut it down again. Only way I’ll get rid of my locs is to start a new set lol
I cut mine in October 2022! I had my loctician cut them. I took had 12 inches off. It made me feel light. You are amazing! Thanks for sharing. Keep the video coming!😊❤
Love the cut! 😍😍
I’m with you…. If you’ve reached your goal length and you’re happy with the condition of your hair then go for it. Personally I like the length range you picked. Can’t wait till I get there!
Heyyyy sis. This is your journey and I love that you did it cut for you! ❤
I love the length you cut it to…that’s my length goal!
My boyfriend has his locs at about mid back maybe a tad longer and he’s ready to trim them down back to shoulder blade length. I can’t imagine if they were as long as yours. If it feels right, it is right. I’m glad you’re happy with it. It looks great!!
I needed to see this video. My locs are so long and heavy I think they're giving me neck pain. Yeah, it's time for a trim, lol. Thanks and great videos! Bless
I know you feel better and lighter too. I’m happy for you cause I know it’s feels good refreshing different. ❤Happy Holidays Loc Queen Sista.
I love it! I’m currently waist length and know I will cut them once they get to tail bone. Congrats on being you and doing what’s best for you!
My locs were mid back but I cut to ear length due to root thinning and breakage. I’m just going to focus on getting my scalp healthy. My head felt so light
when I was done cutting my locs, I almost got too scissor happy. Also due to hot flashes I will be keeping my locs on the short side for a long time. 😊
I hear you. 😅.
My locs are past my butt too and I so feel you on having to hold them when I go to the bathroom and them also getting caught in things. Just made 10 years and I'm thinking for a little cut myself.
My friend cut his ankle length locs recently and he looks years younger. With that weight gone his hairline is growing back. Last month I trimmed mine from mid butt to mid back. I feel you. Do YOU! Your hair looks beautiful and healthy.
That’s my plan, I’m letting it grow to my tail bone and then maintaining it from there or shorter
You are so precious!!! You have to do what’s good for you!
Can you make a video talking more about spiritual washes, how you do it, and why it’s important? My hair is at bra strap length so I’m not at a point of cutting it yet but 2022 was pretty heavy and I wanna leave that ish behind!
Sounds like a great video for the new year! Thank you! I got you.
I can't relate to the long locks problem, but I want my hair you be that long like mid-long length.
Your hair is beautiful and Happy New Year ♡
This can't be true 😲😲, I've been following your loc tips and advice since I've had mine. 9 years in!
I’m 9 yrs in too! 🎉
Congratulations on 9yrs, thanks for sticking around all these years!
I've been watching for 6 years, I am proud of you. I definitely feel like I understand the desire you felt to make this decision. I'm very happy for you!!!
Thanks for watching for so long!
Oooo I know the feeling I.l cut at least 5 years off mines annnnnd I must say I’m glad I made that decision…if feels the way it’s suppose to with the weight and all…although I miss it being very long but it’s hair it will always grow back!
I definitely plan on cutting / trimming my locs as soon as I hit my 10 year mark in 2024 . Merry Christmas I hope you enjoy your holiday with your love ones 🎅🏾🎄☃️⛄️🌨️❄️
Thank you! You too!
I totally get this. My locs are waist length and I'm thinking about cutting them again. It gets to a point where it just is too much to deal with
Your Hair is Gorgeous & Healthy. You have to do what is Best for YOU. Waist length is my Goal, I am currently mid back length.
I’m looking to get my second trim myself! You inspire many on the internet, but its YOUR maintenance.
I totally agree for all the reasons that I’m keeping my locks . In stead of pleasing my self I cut mine 4 times it grew back every time. 😊
I'm happy for you that u had cut the negative off your locs r beautiful ❤️
I absolutely love it❤. I’m so happy I’m almost reaching 9months. I’m so needing some of your hair products, is your herb and lime growth spray still for sale. I noticed it was out of stock online.
Thank you! That oil is seasonal and it comes back in the spring time 🖤
Glad you're still with us Sis👏🏽✊🏽😊💚✔️.
Definitely need all the loc resources I can get! 💜
I completely understand Keisha! It wasn't functional for me to have such long hair either. I keep my hair in curls now to shorten them and keep it out the way (plus, I just love the look). Your new length is beautiful! Can't wait for your new videos.
Peace Queen! Thanks for sharing your knowledge ✊🏾💯
I hear you girl about hair being down. ❤
Congratulations on your 100,000 😍 either way your locs are beautiful ✨ 💕 you did what was best for you, that all matters 😊
I was at "tailbone length" at 10 years. I just GOT TIRED of sitting on them when I went to pee!
Finally cut back 6 inches or so...made me HAPPY! I'm GOOD!
would have loved to see more of that video when you cut it....a before and after would have been nice too...but I always loved you locs. I cut mine a couple months ago too, was getting too long and uneven, and harder to style....its growing back to my but, so maybe I'll cut again, who knows! Thanks for sharing Keisha!
I didn’t show more of me cutting it because I didn’t do it right. Thank you, congrats on your cut too 🖤
We understand. We do. We still love you. They are still beautiful
As faithful followers, we just want your locks to grow forever and forever but that’s not reality. I’m two years in and when the time comes, I know I’ll have to trim mine. Keep going Sis. What’s your cashapp?
My locs are about to my butt. I haven't thought about what my goal is per se I just know my hairs longer then its ever been ever. but even at the length its at now I gotta be careful about going to public restrooms especially. I try to always keep them up in some way if ima be out and about but I LOVE showing off my length so any updo that still shows off my length I do often
I love that for you 🖤
Peace
2017 - 2022
I'm at tail bone length already. I feel it's your head you have to do what's best for you. Oh and I only wear my locs down too because i get headaches after a while.
Peace Love & Loc's
🤎🤎🤎🤗🤎🤎🤎
OMG Love it…either way…..doesn’t matter, as long as you’re happy. Don’t mind the Loc trolls….let them do what they do….and you continue doing what you are doing, I think I speak for genuine Subbies we 😍 love it, and bring on the vintage styles ❤❤❤ This was a great video. Sometimes we can want to cut our hair, but not want to let go, so this helps. Thanks for the insight. ….
Thank you so much for your support 🥰
Yeszz about the part of the locs you cut. Agreed!
I'm 2.5 years on my journey. My goal is mid back length. When I get there maybe I'll want it even longer. Who knows. We'll see. Your locs are beautiful and you are one of my loc crushes. Keep the content and the products coming.
I definitely understand. I've wanted to cut my locs for the last 3 or 4 years and I finally did it last month. I went from butt length to above my shoulders. It feels so freeing.
I needed this! I was debating on cutting recently and this year would make me 4 years locd( locs are just under bra strap/ mid back in only 5'3") and the past 2 years have been a lot to where my locs are my edges the hair was growing but not into the loc and I wasn't caring for it. And cause of that thinning. But now I'm on a healthy hair journey and probably let it grow to waist/tailbone length and after cut it short.
Good on you Keisha in cutting your locks, as you said you felt spiritually and emotionally ready. My locks will be 10 years next February 2022 going pass my butt, probably longer. I never wear my hair down anyway. The hairdressers wants me to cut it though as they claim its too heavy and thinning in the middle. I do not however find it heavy. I am too scared to cut mine at the moment to be honest. I am actually finding it difficult to style my hair especially as I have hair loss at the front which has been going on for a few years, but I manage and styles turn out well anyway. Why am I so scared to cut mine? I am not spiritually or emotionally there yet, as I feel my locks is giving me the strength to carry on to help overcome trauma in my life. Stay blessed and carry on doing you.❤🙏🏾
I understand where you are. Sending you love ❤️
I somehow missed this video. Cutting your lips to a shorter length that's best for you is all good. You're still loc'd. I personally would love to see simple updos because in my work, I'm not allowed to have my hair free.
Like you, I prefer my locs free, not constrained.
Merry xmas!! Was waiting for the cutting video, you have to do what works for you, you still look great!!
I completely understand...I had the same dilemma with my locs!
Do what makes you happy.
I'm ten years in and I will cut it one day. I'm not there yet. I'm just nosey to see how long they can get, before it gets to heavy.
I have been thinking about cutting mines also! You just inspired to do it before rhe new year...Go me lol Thanks
I’m 5 years in. Started from short comb coils. Mine are heavy. Loc bobs has helped but I think I’m going to trim. It’s at tailbone already
That peace sign blow 🤣 you're hilarious
Your locs look beautiful
Thank you Jasmine 🖤
@@KeishaCharmaine you are welcome
Girl I feel you. Mine is a lil past tailbone and I’m over it. I’m cutting it to about bra strap on my 9 year anniversary next week.
I would love to see videos on how to deal with buildup, generally maintaining healthy locs, and styles for sure.
Congratulations on 9 years! Thanks for the video requests!
I'm also coming up to my 9 year loc-aversary in Feb! Can't wait. I'm currently at tailbone length with a few inches cut also. Thanks Keisha for all the videos on your channel and congratulations on your "big chop". Continue being an inspiration to us! Looking forward to reaching 10 years, and then 12 just like you now ☺☺
I can’t wait until my locs are long enough for braids
No explanation was needed. I wish all who have healthy hair like you and those below are able to gift your hair to a black loctician who can use 'em as a "fill in" for someone struggling or just beginning.
It’s healthier I’m sure. Congratulations. Question, when you cut your locs do you notice more unraveling?
Not at all. When I take my braids out I’ll make a video about the ends. Thanks!
Merry Christmas Keisha, your locs have always been gorgeous, and I completely understand your decision 💯%. My locs are currently tailbone length, but my goal is right below my butt. I have head good reviews about The Best Man and definitely plan on watching it 🤗
You’ll hit your goal in no time! Enjoy sitting on them 😂 Thanks for the love! 🤗
I'm so with you...
I really want to start locs and grow them to my tailbone as well. I’m used to the weight of box braids, so I know that won’t bother me, but I’m wondering how does it hurt your scalp or neck at all when washing? Since I’m tender headed I keep being told to get sisterlocs or microlocs…
I just ✂️ 7 inches off of mine as well to bra length..whew it feels so good. I cut mine for the same reason...
Sitting on my locs or holding my hair to wipe the toilet seat after use or any reason related to food is difficult for people to understand more than “the length” because they don’t deal daily. I really dislike the pressure that your edges get put under when your hair is tied up, it hurts. I haven’t gotten to the point where I’m ready to cut yet, but when I am “who said something?“
I'm struggling with this now. Mine are long, not as long as yours, and they're always in the way when they're down at over 10 years old. I've been wearing buns. Now I'm mulling, cutting them off, shaving them off or combing them out.
