i think its cuz u equipped drop rate items near the end cuz when i equipped drop rate items right before killing a boss i get horrible drops but when i equip it before fighting the boss i got good stuff

makes also sense cuz the drop is decided once you defeated the boss
5% is not gonna affect the drop THAT much so you cant compare it to just two bosses you need to do it a lot and then compare
