I was 11. It’s the earliest presidential campaign I have any direct memory of, though I wasn’t paying much attention to it. I remember who the nominees were, I remember “Read my lips” (funny it didn’t get mentioned in this video, I think it was fairly important), but that’s about it.

I've been reading up on Lee Atwater. This election is what made him famous or infamous in political history. Do you think it was his aggressive campaign strategy that got Bush elected or was Dukakis just that unlikable? My dad said he was too arrogant. Also had Lee lived how would he go about Bush's reelection campaign? He would have a field day with Clinton.

Well a mix of both. Bush was behind by 15-20 points after the convention so he needed to destroy Dukakis and he did that. But Dukakis was only a replacement for Gary hart and he never really explained why he should be president. That and his boring personality allowed bush to destroy him and make him a joke.

He also, send an order to the chief of police to stop issuing and renewing a gun permit in MA. My permit was set to expire in August and I can not set up an appointment for finguer print because there was a record of the running number of time for appointment that so very far away from the expeiration date of the permits and by the laws the state can take your gun due to lack of permit. I had called the chief of police appointment and I was told that there is nothing he can do. I spoke to my connection and get my permit renewal on time.
