  • From Humble Beginnings to Global Influence: The Jimmy Carter Story" traces the extraordinary life of the 39th President of the United States. Born in Plains, Georgia, in 1924, Carter grew up on a peanut farm, instilling in him values of hard work and integrity. After graduating from the Naval Academy, he served in the Navy before returning to Georgia to take over the family business.
Carter's entry into politics came in the 1960s, serving as a state senator and later as Governor of Georgia. His tenure as governor was marked by progressive reforms and a focus on education and racial reconciliation. However, he faced challenges with economic stagnation, reflecting broader struggles in the U.S. economy during the 1970s.
In 1976, Carter emerged as a dark horse candidate for the presidency, capitalizing on a wave of anti-establishment sentiment and presenting himself as a Washington outsider. His victory in the election was seen as a fresh start for the country, but he inherited a struggling economy and faced challenges on the international stage.
One of the defining moments of Carter's presidency was the Iran hostage crisis, which began in 1979 when Iranian revolutionaries seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, holding 52 Americans hostage for 444 days. Carter's handling of the crisis was met with mixed reviews, and his inability to secure the hostages' release contributed to his defeat in the 1980 election.
His work in eradicating diseases like Guinea worm and river blindness has saved millions of lives, earning him international acclaim and the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. Despite his advanced age, Carter continues to be an active voice for peace and justice, leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and leadership on the global stage.

If i was President Carter, and i had to think of a solution to the hostages crises, the answer would be very easy. I would have returned the Shah to Iran in a minute instead of sacrificing a single American life. That is what Carter should have done. The Shah was a brutal dictator. There was no need to sacrifice American lives for him.
Other than that. I believe that President Carter was and is a honest, good and well meaning man. Domestic events dominated his presidency, and made things very hard for him. But he is NOT anywhere near the worst president mark. He championed peace, human rights, and is the only president in modern times not to fire a single bullet towards another country.
If it`s true that Reagan`s team prolonged the agony for the hostages for political gain, it`s a massive political scandal, and a HUGE minus for President Reagan. President Carter worked his ass of for the release of the hostages, while Reagan worked with the Iranians to keep them hostage. Is that why Reagan later sold weapons to Iran? (Iran/Contras)
Jimmy Carter was a decent man, and he would never have done anything to harm American citizens in captivity in a foreign land. The work he has done since his resignation is outstanding. He and Rosalynn Carter has saved peoples lives.
President Carter will be remembered as a living saint. God bless him, and god bless Rosalynn. They`ve done so much good for humanity.

@@deviouspirate1374 Ronald Reagan’s 1980 presidential campaign colluded with the Iranian government to keep our hostages longer than they should’ve been. So he could win the 1980 election.
