3:30 this phrase, while he breaths in the middle (on purpose), is literally perfection like when he sings "lie around my heart", his resonance and support is actually amazing. I'm so mad because he's emulating his terrible audition but like he still sounds flawless
Three hilarious things that I'm not sure people noticed 1. Chin vibrato lol 2. He takes breaths in the middle of phrases (which is extra funny because Jeremy normally has impeccable phrasing) 3. He closes to the "r" at the end All of these are bad singing habits that he emulated PERFECTLY
I also found the breath thing amazing. Especially because it's Jeremy, because I swear when he sings he doesn't even need oxygen, that's how amazing his phrasing and breath control are!!

I believe he was re-enacting the first time he auditioned for his musical theater program at college. He said in another interview that this was the very song he chose
I agree. It was funny and I'm glad we have this comedy version to entertain ourselves with, but I wish there was another video where he sings it naturally. Anthem is one of my fave musical theatre songs of all time, and Jeremy is terrific, so the combination would have to be thing of particular beauty...
from piecing some random JJ YT blackhole interviews this could've probably been his audition at carnegie mellon where he said for some reason his throat ran dry which probably led to 2:01...... (hit like if you think i should get a life LOL)
I bet after his audition they were just like:"well he completely butchered that, but ha know what it was the most entertaining rendition of that dull overplayed song we've heard so, why not!!" 😂😂😂
