Anyone who wants to donate towards relief efforts in Puerto Rico please do not do it through the government. Look for other sources like charities, churches or any other organization.

“Days to restore power” lmao more like months if they don’t start sending us lineman there to help with the restoration. They most likely don’t even have the natural material required to even do the restoration the correctly and it’ll be even more patched together than it was after Maria. I spent all last year working there and It was falling apart then and we barely had the stuff to keep the lights on safely. The thought they could build it back correctly is laughable.

I wonder when architecture in general will be changed to withstand this kind of event that seems to happen on a yearly basis now... the story repeats itself yet nothing is done to change how people live/build there.... They just keep building the same way and keep being affected in the same way too sadly. I was there for hurricane Maria and that seemed like a substantial wake-up call. Guess not. In 1945, the US refused to comply with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter that prohibits colonialism for being a crime against humanity. Moreover, the US has ignored 41 UN resolutions asking her to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. The US has never defended democracy. She has only used that word to defend only the interests of her 1% of citizens. That has meant 124 years of US colonialism for Puerto Ricans! If the relationship between the US and Puerto is so good for Puerto Ricans, why do two thirds of us live away from our national territory? Why must Puerto Ricans abandon Puerto Rico to supposedly “enjoy all of the benefits” of having US citizenship? Could it be that it was designed that way to get Puerto Ricans out of Puerto Rico? In fact as I was putting up my shutters, one of my trees feel over and there wasn’t even that much wind yet. Just near my house all of the tall trees fell. And I haven’t even checked the farm yet. 😊
