  • Rebuilding the musical instruments of the ancient Khmer
French ethnomusicologist and archaeomusicologist Patrick Kersalé has spent over 25 years in Asia, searching for historic instruments and studying surviving traditional music. But it was not enough for him. He has spent the past 4 years investigating musical instruments from the Angkorian world, through the iconography, inscriptions and archaeological objects. Based on that research, Kersalé has been able to rebuild extinct Angkorian instruments from the 7th to 13th centuries! Several kinds of harps, monochord zithers, cymbals, drums, trumpets, and conches have thus literally been brought back to life !

      @@bruceanderson5377 🤭(Theory 5: The Skulls Theory
Researcher H.G. Quaritch Wales attempted to prove that the Tai people had originated in Thailand itself by using skulls he found and studied in Kanchanaburi Province, which dated back to 50 A.D.
He compared them to modern-day Thai skulls and concluded that the two were extremely similar, theorizing that the Tai people had occupied Thailand for the past two millennia.
This idea was corroborated by Sud San-Vichien, a physiologist who compared ancient bones from Kanchanaburi and Rajaburi provinces with bones from modern-day ethnic Thais, concluding that they were virtually identical.
He, too, concluded that modern-day Thailand was the original home of the Tai ethnolinguistic group.
To corroborate, archaeologists and anthropologists have found evidence of continuity in culture, tradition, physiology, and civilization. Today, the theory is debated, but it is one of the most popular regarding the origins of the Kingdom’s people.

@@ธารินคีตสังข์ stop the nonsense. I am not khmer and I have no problem with thai, but the truth is that thai "copied" khmer (or more relevantly, was influenced by khmer). Thai are part of tai-kadai people, and thai is originally from southern china. Thai emigrated from what today is Yunnan to modern day Thailand, which used to be ruled by Mon-Khmer and Khmer (Funan, Chenla, then Kambuja, Ancient Khmer Kingdom). Thai people attacked Khmer and adopted Khmer culture, thai language was influenced by khmer, and ultimately all forms of Khmer art was adopted to thai culture. Thai people have their own culture, but you lost it since you emigrated from China. Nowadays culture of Thailand is ultimately khmer, that is a fact. Khmer is original. Fortunately the world knows the truth no matter how much you try to twist the history.
      Facts are facts.
      Peace.
