    • @untaintedwheelchair
      @untaintedwheelchair 4 месяца назад +69

      @macbook802 it's not just about individual responsibility - it's about the systems in place which enables and promotes these kinds of problems from the start/source.
      Globalisation has lead to corporations selling goods wrapped in plastic to communities without the means of disposing it appropriately. Without the infrastructure and systems in place, many take the easiest route and dump rubbish wherever they want. There's also the lack of and enforcement of laws.
      Saying "dirty people" is lazy and racist as hell, because if the weekly rubbish collection didnt occur in any city, the same thing would occur there, but on an incomprehensible level. New/updated laws, systems, infrastructure, and awareness is required. And business models such as Coca-Cola are to blame.

I contributed because it felt like the first project that would truly help the issue… while the governments and scientific community was off greenwashing, these guys decided to actually DO something about it and said “let’s just use the simplest most cost effective and efficient solution to take the most plastic we can out of water”… and BAM we have this!
