It's definitely not just quickplay. It might be some settings that I don't know. Hunt is definitely a stressful game so maybe that has something to do with it as well? It's definitely more stressful to play for yourself, especially mid-gunfights than watching some do it. Perhaps that can kind of make your brain don't recept some noises?

Hit detection is on the clients side, not the servers. If you hit the other guy on your screen hes dead. The same goes for you. Both people get the hit. Both people send data to the server. Both players die.
Yes. The camera is not centered. It is set slightly on the left side of the hunter. This means that you are also exposing your body more than you think when you peek on the right. In that particular case the enemy also had some cover in the balcony and he would peek on his left side giving him a bit more advantage too. In the end Rachta would be fighting more exposed against an enemy less exposed and he knows better than that :)
If you peak to where the cover/wall is on the left of you, your body sticks out before you can see on the other side of the cover, but if you peak where the cover is on the right side, you can see before your body shows. There are some indepth videos about it on youtube somewhere. I forgot who made em
