So as someone who doesn't consider themselves Christian anymore, not due to any disdain or anything (it just doesn't stick/fit with me), what would you say to someone who isn't Christian in regards to making the help they seek stick?

Hey Connor! That’s a great question. I’ve always stuck by the motto, “ where there’s life, there’s hope.” A lot of times when we go through really hard things, we can’t understand it. We have this feeling of ‘why me’ or ‘ I don’t know if I can get through this.’ I tend to think, if I have survived an emotionally hard, traumatic, or horrible circumstance, then there must be more of life for me. And I can learn and grow through it and become a more wise and potentially happy person ( but even that realization doesn’t help a great amount when the pain of life is so strong.)
So on that note, counseling really helped me. I think it’s so important to process your feelings with an unbiased, healthy, and educated ear. It helped me see all sides of my feelings and circumstance, and not just through the eyes of my pain. It truly gave me strength and perspective. A lot of times, we get through pain when we know someone is in the midst of it with us. Not judging us, but truly wanting us to process and be healthy.
