======================================
Well done for reaching the bottom of the description! :D
Hahaha Westie, I'am from the PMRJ the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro, my main weapon when I as an recruit was the Medsen Mg captured from an Drug lord from one of the Slums, and yes I have the gun in my wall as an present from that days.. hahaha when I start watching the video I though you wouldn't gonna talk about the Brazilian Use of the Medsen, and if you wanna know, yes we still using this weapon hahaha but they are all captured, the drug dealers use this weapon to bring down especial unit choppers in conflict. Have a nice day man, an you better not stop doing this great vids hahahaha !
Your intro and outro music is always spot on Westie :)
Thanks man :)
I very much enjoyed this video on my Sunday morning sipping my coffee. Thanks, great video
The Farmer of Lead None Great to hear buddy! :)
Sporky Right its 10/10
It's the one from the single player trailer, if you watch that, it fits very well.
Since the gun was so popular, I'm pretty sure the Madsen inspired the British Bren MG and the Japanese Type-99 MG, both used in WWII.
yep.
Console_Pheasant I thought it was the BREN when I first saw it, they are very similar
Console_Pheasant the Bren was copied from a Czech mg
The only real similarity is the magazine placement, The two weapons use completely different repeating mechanisms to load new cartridges, Gas operated systems are a whole different world then recoil operated systems.
I'm addicted to bubble bursting. Sorry.
JustSomeGuy fan of forgotten weapons i see? :)
as a Dane I am happy to see a Danish gun in a game for one's
Ye.
i0am0the0one0 Once.
nice gun m8s (brazillian here)
Yep
i0am0the0one0 også mig!!
Id like to see the history of the Lee Enfield bolt action rifle. theyre quite famous
Hornet 2-2 yes
Would enjoy that
Best rifle of World War 1 and second best rifle of World War 2, after the Garand. The STG44 being an assault rifle.
DJWoody Man the Garand is in its own league, beats any rifle back in the day
***** well hes not necessarily wrong, its all a matter of opinion
Damn, police using an LMG that's pretty intense even if it is 120 years old
especially if it's that old
Weehoo 2 they use it to attack fortified criminal positions. If you google "favela", you'll see that it's a very intense urban combat enviroment that demand a lot of firepower. Plus, when criminals have LMGs, police brings them up too. After all, equal or superior firepower help a lot in winning a firefight.
danish design you know ;) we make things that are build to last - just look up B&O design
Well they are still using a few benét-mercie's in Rio too, and in mine state, Mauser rifles. There is no limit to use overpowered guns if you hate those criminals hahaha
Well look at the AK-47 its been in use since the late 40s and is the most mass produced gun ever
The Madsen was also made in a 20mm and 23mm versions, which was the main mobile antitank weapon during the 2. WW in denmark. It was mounted on motorcycle sidecars.
And its nice to hear someone who can pronounce the name correctly. 99% of the gaming channels dosent know about the silent D :) God job :)
The falling block action is used in the martini-henry as well
It is indeed! :)
Gian Luca Marazzi It was used in a lot of American designed rifles after the US Civil War. The "Martini Henry" was a modified Peabody rifle that the British produced in violation of patent, and the American manufacturer unsuccessfully sued the UK government for financial redress.
great vid as always westie, and good job on pronouncing Madsen as danes do. also, if it was first introduced in 1902, and was last seen in 2015. wouldn't it be 113 years and NOT 103 years?
+ACuteScone Thanks man! Yeah I got the math wrong 😂
So for future reference, the D in Madsen is silent?
TugaAvenger basically, yes.
the HUOT automatic
yes
U wot?
I second this
Not that much history of it in use since only 4 was produced
PROPAGANDACHANNEL isn't it a modified Canadian bolt action rifle?
What about the history of the gas grenade 😏
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Westie (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
lord have mercy
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
+Westie they first started using it in 1915, the battle of leper.
the music at the start is just amazing and fits in perfectly with ur voice tone and vocals!!!!!!
Thanks buddy!
i want to see the m1911 next, its one of the longest serving pistols in history, from the early 1910s and is still used by some police officers today, because it is a reliable, high powered, and accurate gun. not to mention it looks really cool
I really appreciate the effort you've put into these videos. I love history and I love guns, especially classics and odd ball style guns. So thank you for the entertainment and the history lesson, very cool.
+FlyingZuchinni I'm really glad you like the videos buddy :)
73 machine gun that north korea has look similar model to madsen
Honestly I hate the new support weapons. I was a very support-heavy guy because of the tap fire beasts that were the BF4 lmgs.
Now with these weapons I can get two headshot hit markers with a couple more regular hitmarkers and the guy just waltzes away. You need a huge accuracy buff or something when crouching, or I think supports will soon die off.
spartanB0292 they did get an accuracy buff.
I just went 70-30 in my last match, post patch. they've almost buffed them too much to be honest.
They just need a damage buff thats all,
accuracy is ok but they do too less damage.
1. Use a bipod
2. Find a spot where you arent instantly going to get spotted
3. Go to town
4. Move, repeat steps 2-4.
Frank Münster again, since the patch, haven't noticed an issue. I was going toe to toe with assault players in 1v1 matches, using the mg 15. it was amazing.
Try bringing her sensitivity down, it might help.
+DanteWolfwood I dont really have a Problem with the LMG's, and I'm not bad with them but sometimes it feels like I should've gotten the kill earlyier (Lewis gun, Hout, Benet).
But the MG15 is bae I know ;).
Yep my Portuguese grandfather used a Madsen in the colonial war!
goosebumps at the end god that music is amazing
Lol i'm Danish and also my last name is Rasmussen. I know like 20 Danish Rasmussens. fukin spooky shiet
NZO Im from Paraguay, and I know a family Rasmussen, maybe they are your parents then 😂
Federico Ascencio. Rasmussen is a quite popular last name in Denmark, so i doubt that you guys families know eachother. Though, theres always a chance xD
NZO I'm Danish too
Anton Rasmussen :D
Anton Rasmussen i just read your name, i now know of 21, f*ck sake
You pronounced Madsen correctly and that makes me very happy
Epic video Westie, please never change the intro music it's so good, almost makes me cry hahah. I'd like to see the history of the Mexican Mondragon in the next one.
Cheers from Argentina :)
Love the video, love the Madsen. I'd like to see either the Gewehr M. 95 or the M1916 Selbstlader next.
Your vids are so helpful when playing this game.
Paraguayan here :) I remember seeing a Madsen MG in a Chaco War museum , they're pretty big. The Bolivians also use some variations and improved versions of the MP18
Impressive for a weapon, was used for a long time and still being used. Didn't expect to see a pic from 2015, crazy. Loving BF1 and it's got me interested in the history of the conflict irl...gonna sub to you. Good stuff Westie!
my grandad used to be in the Danish national guard (home guard) as a LMG gunner, used to have his Madsen LMG standing in his living room back in the 70,s - 80,s the weapon actually saw service here in the national guard to around 1985, but that was because if a member of a unit back then had a gun he favored that were put out of use for new recruits, he could still keep the weapon because it were the weapon he were best suited to use.
Your pronunciation of Madsen is spot on!
Source: Danish
Man, you're teaching history. Keep it up.
Incredible idea!
When I use this gun I put the recoil direction to the right, causing you to naturally go against the recoil by dragging to the left. This helps slightly with the blocked view from the magazine
I had never really heard much about the Madsen before. Very interesting video Westie!
The Lenét-Mercié LMG
I am curious about it
Who Is WITH ME?!
Gamez Trickz I'm with you, buddy. it's my fav LMG
Gamez Trickz Benet Mercies were horrid. But they won French Favour and the Americans stupidly adopted it over the Lewis Gun in 1909 to replace the M1895 Browning guns because William Crozier, who ran the US Ordnance Department had a huge personal beef with Isaac Newton Lewis. They however used a flimsy steel 30 round clip that flops around and gets dirty easily, had a scrappy gas system and had a terrible bolt handle. The French began replacing it with the Chauchat in 1915 and the Americans first replaced it with the Chauchat in 1918, and then that was replaced with the BAR in late 1918 once production kicked up, as the USA had very few machine guns in WW1 - in fact they were the worst equipped and least advanced army in WW1 I'd argue, they had to rely heavily on French and British designs because they couldn't manufacture their own.
Do you now a curious fact about the Hotchkiss benét-mercie 1909?
*They still in use at Rio Military Police too* . In very few quantity's. But still there.
Great video! The background music is epic, inspirational, keep using it.
As a history and gun nut, I would like to say that I am enjoying this series AND; in light of the apparent "controversy'; I like the real world/game world info and comparison.
2015 - 1902 = 113
+USeeMeTrolllin Mistakes were made!
Westie 2+2=4-1=3 quick math
The picture you show at 5:15 is from WW2, the day that the Germans invaded Denmark. Several of the men on that picture died that day.
The madsen actually stopped several german tanks, the blood went both ways.
big fan of your history pieces on the BF1 arsenal's. Keep it up bro
Westie, your channel deserves a lot more then it gets. I hope you can continue posting videos like this.
Madsen has slowly but surely become my favourite Support gun. BAR is a great gun, but i always seem to hit the enemies for 90% of their health before i run out of ammo. Having those 12 extra bullets have saved me more than once.
I am interested in the shovel, very interesting device!
it's invention was ground breaking
Maxim Van Daele literally
The shovel had many purposes: to cut to the human flesh easily and entrench land.
Always great to see westie upload!
This series is amazing I hope you will do this for all the guns
For the longest time, this was my go to gun in BF1. Even after I unlocked the BAR, I was still managing longs killstreaks with this thing mainly because of the larger magazine and rof. The storm version is the superior version of them all.
Great video again Westie! Learnt a lot, can't believe the life time of that gun has lasted. Most people don't even get that old. And it's rather incredible that it's been used for so long and not really had a successor or a competitor that has beaten it?
Eganator2000 Dude every light machine gun from 1920 onwards bests it, it just is that it does the job well enough that some people couldn't be arsed to spend some money upgrading their equipment. When it's used these days, it's usually because it is from captured enemy stocks, not because it is officially in adopted use or ordered. It's the same reason so many people still use AKMs despite more inferior guns like the AK-74M, AK-107, AEK-971 etc all being out there. If it ain't broke, no point spending money fixing it is the argument.
But the Madsen was pretty much obsolete by the 30's. Better and cheaper mag fed LMGs were around like the ZB-26 and its variants, and belt fed GPMGs like the MG34.
You should do the Winchester 1895 next. I think it has a very interesting history.
those 2 pilots at 7:14 tho
nice video westie!
Westie you should do the BAR and talk about how today we have a modern variant known as the HCAR
Just a note that the Forgotten Weapons channel has an excellent presentation of this LMG.
Keep up the history reviews, please! Always checking to see if you have new video up.
guys, theres a channel called forgotten weapons on youtube check it out to get the full history of who made these various weapons, how they were developed & see how these weps work internally. bullet calibre design specific for certain weps and sometimes see them at the range.. its a great channel for you gun nutts out there and theres a whole playlist for bf1 weapons for interested gamers also, and yes theres a vid for the kolibri lol.. but i do apreciate westie's vids as always.. thanks for the upload westie!
the madsen is a beast, certainly the best LMG for close quarters. though I can still pull some long range kills with the trench variant, but those are unusual.
I think it's the medic turn, I want to see the Mondragon.
I really want to know more about the Martini Henry or the Huot Low Weight the latter being a very unique looking gun. As always great video. Love the outro music.
Please do the Lee Enfield (SMLE) you would have so much to talk about
really enjoying the daily content Westie, You have become my go to channel for bf1. I would like to see a history of the c 96 Mauser and the carbine variant. you know mix it up a little bit :) keep up the good work
loved the vid man!! you should do the M1911 next
awesome vid westie! loving the intros
Madsen MG Low Weight is my favorite/best machine gun!
Low weight has the best accuracy. And I only play the objective. It takes a bit more skill to use in cq then the storm, but it’s worth learning. Just look at the stats of the low weight.
Cool video Westie as always!
I know it technically isn't a primary weapon but could you do the T-Gewehr Anti Tank rifle from the Tank Hunter kit? It has a very interesting history especially because it was the first anti tank gun ever adopted, and also because the US used it's cartridge as a template for the Browning 50 cal.
That would be interesting. Also, they planned to make an MG variant, the MG18 TuF, which appears in some kits for planes in the game (like on the "bomber killer" fighter).
I love soaking up that history great work keep it up
ahhhhh the intro and outro is statisfying
I didnt liek the game stats in the first video but after I realized I would be using these because I want to play historically accurate I went back and watched the part I skipped lmao great video series
You should talk about the history of the C93 hand gun as it was apparently one of the first successful semi-auto handgun.
AA sights really help with this gun
The guns I would love to see from the 4 main classes are as follows:
Assault- Trench Gun and revolver you get from rank 10.
Medic- Selbstlader 1906 and Mle 1903
Support- BAR and Repetierpistole M.12
Scout- Martini Henry (Or m1903) and the Kolibri.
Love this series and thank you for making these great videos!
The Selbstlader M1906 would be tough because obtaining concrete info on it is hard. I'm shocked that DICE even got enough visual info to put together what is probably a fairly accurate model. The only widespread info about it is that it was an experimental rifle combining the Luger's action with a rifle's body and the standard German 7.92mm ammo. There wouldn't be a lot to talk about.
Daniel Sinks I mean they some how managed to get the level 10 assault weapon in (cant remember the name) that had little to no info on it. I just assumed that since westie made that gun work, he could make the Selbstlader work too.
Joffasaur Well there's more public info about the Hellriegel then this. It could be done but it would just be more difficult.
Daniel Sinks Ah. true. I still hope it happens though! It would be very interesting.
Best gun for the support class, Westie you should use the AA sights. With AA sight on the low weight variant (bipod) you won't find any oponent in the support class, not even the BAR
some people use left recoil on this wep claiming it helps with line of sight not being obstructed by that magazine as much. i haven't tried it myself yet.
I would love to see a video on the BAR soon, or maybe the Pieper rifle for the vehicle classes
madsen storm is my fav support gun and my friend stared to work on support and asked what he should get for his class and just told him any madsen cus is too damn good
Love this series keep at it
Great stuff Westie. Battlefield 1 is a really impressive game, I love how they mixed the history, but still made it engaging for the modern player. One trade off being disproportionate amounts of weapons that didn't really see service, or saw combat on a limited scale. However, by dragging up things like that, they made an opportunity to explore the history of weapons and how they developed into today's firearms. What I'd love to see you cover, and a gun that really falls into a similar category as the Hellriegel is the Pedersen device. Another fascinating offshoot of the war, that actually was something of a technological dead end. Fortunately it was a lot better documented than the Hellriegel, despite the secrecy associated with the project.
I'd love to see you cover it.
the Mauser 98 has a great amount of history for you to cover . itd be nice to see
THANK YOU for not saying the D in the Madsen. It's just such a common mistake everyone makes.
glad to know the D is silent, i'll make sure i'll say it correctly
It would be cool to see a gas system for guns to improve rate of fires for some guns with benefits and penalties. This could add more levels of customization and more things to play around with.
Great vid Westie! I learned some pretty cool stuff and I'm excited to see the next one! I think a cool gun you could do next is the Automatico because it seems to be very unique for its time. :D
History of the automatico please
Captain Kirk967 it'll probably be in the same video as the villar perosa.
History of the Automatico: Satan forged it from the depths of hell itself so you could rage when you die at close combat
Joshua Rathbun so true
keep up the good work westie
I think everyone can agree that Madsen is very powerful right now in BF1. Mobile lmg, whose firerate is beaten only by BAR in it's class, but it's much easier to use and have more bullets in magazine.
I really like this series of videos
+Westie great vid, but you missed one crucial point about the Madsen. It could be shouldered and fired effectively on the move. That was the true revolutionary element to the gun. My granddad even fired it from horseback in the danish army as part of regular training. Now just imagine that in BF1...
westie, you are the best battlefield comentator
So cool! Very good series westie :) i would like to see in the next episode the automatico
I'd like to see one about the MARTINI HENRY!
Love this series. please keep it up.!!
mg15 please history on that would be cool as it's the mg series, best support gun in my eyes
shibster88 The mg15 is actually the mg08 without the water cooling jacket. They stripped the water jacket and tripod, gave it an air cooling dissipator and a bipod.
Also, even though the MG15 n.A. is available to support and the MG08/15 is only available to the sentry in this game, the MG08/15 was the more common one and the MG15 was used in smaller numbers. It's considered to have been forgotten amongst the other German MGs.
Are you planning on doing an episode on every gun in the game, including sidearms, pilot and tanker weapons etc?
I'm looking to do one for each weapon yes. Things like the Tanker/Pilot weapons, some are variants of pistols, so I'll include those in the same video :)
Westie ily:)
yes someone finally someone who pronounces Madsen the right way
The Madsen MG is very similar if not identical to the Bren light machine gun, which was a modified Czechoslovak ZGB 33 LMG. The British ended up purchasing the rights to manufacture it.
Martini henry
WORSTXB1PLAYER Tyler Tee H C.
The Martini Henry did fire the .577 Snider round which was a 400-480 grain projectile.
Shapes_of_ Dusk Martini Henris saw rear line issue for British troops that didn't really need the best guns. They also were used to equip the Arabic Rebels sometimes, and Romania used them on the Front Line due to the limited supply of Mannlicher rifles, because they were at War with their Austro-Hungarian suppliers and had a severe shortage. Their cavalry had some old Martinis in storage and brought them out.
Aidan Templeton The Ottomans also reissued their Peabody Martinis to second line and garrison troops at the beginning of the war, along with Remington Rolling Block rifles and other old BP rifles, since their government was too poor economically to buy newer rifles.
Lee Enfield. Lots of history to an epic weapon, varients are still used today in the Army Cadet Force for training
the martini-henry also utilizes a falling block action
History of the Lee Enfield next please Westie!
Love the Madsen, reminds me of the Bren
Can you do the history of the Lewis gun?
Amazing work Westie, I don't even know that the Brazilian army used to use the Madsen, holy sh*t. And I'm Brazilian actually 😱
it's the police, but yes.
I love your videos Westie, Can you do any weapon history episodes on the Pilot/Tanker class? I always wanted to know more about the Frommer Stop
Loved this series westie, maybe pick up weapon history for DLC guns?
I like this series
The martini-Henry would be awesome to see!
your my new fav youtuber westie!
hell yes, more vids like this for sure.
Will you do behemoths and some other vechicles?
this gun is amazing I recommend it.
