    Thanks for this! With lack of a builtin tutorial, it was very useful to understand how everything works for the most part.

    Sorry to beat a dead horse but I just flew several successful rescue missions today based on the skills I learned from this video, and I want to thank WKFO for making it!

      Yeah, the video is very helpful and informative.

    Thanks for this tutorial! I have figured out most of the HUD already, but you really filled in some gaps in my understanding. I have to say this new version of Pioneer is AMAZING.

    I'd give this tutorial more than one Like if I could. One thing I'd add, though, is how you used the arrow keys to shift from forward to rear views for the retro burns. That might not be obvious to a newcomer. (I don't think I saw you mention that, maybe I missed it.)

      Yeah, maybe it could be nice to mention. I just assumed people know how to do the basic stuff, because if I also started teaching those I wouldn't finish the video before I hit the one hour mark. But thanks for pointing it out, to everyone! :)

    I’ve got myself a Skipjack equipped for long-distance traveling, and fuel scooping means I’m self sufficient save for paying my co-pilot. Trolling around Fed space taking odd jobs.
    Any places in Pioneer you recommend visiting? Cool vistas and the likes?

    • @WKFO_Space
      @WKFO_Space  2 года назад +1

      There is a "Places of interest" page in Pioneerwiki but I think they might be obsolete if the galaxy generation changed since then. My favorite places are hand-crafted systems near Sol, interesting terrain features usually found on small airless worlds (big canyons and odd pillars and such), systems with multiple giant stars in close proximity and the daring travel to the 2 easter egg-ish systems in unexplored space.

      @@WKFO_Space Hey thanks! I also gotta thank you for your other Pioneer videos. I feel like I’ve honestly gained enough know-how from flying around in this game that I can start applying it to other sims.

    Great tutorial, explained more to me than the wiki could. One question though, you continually let the braking distance indicator turn green by turning off thrust for a while. But at some point you kept the braking thrust on as you approached the planet, bringing the indicator nearly all the way to zero. How did you know at what point to do so?

    • @WKFO_Space
      @WKFO_Space  2 года назад

      Just whenever I wanted to come to a "full stop", I kept burning continuously. If I had a navigation target on planet surface, I probably wouldn't do that.

    how do you actually dock?!
    I made it to London, 'landed' on the pad (disengaging the auto control leads to the craft slowly nosediving into the station), I am completely at a loss.

    • @WKFO_Space
      @WKFO_Space  Год назад +2

      You need to request docking beforehand (right click on the station and drag mouse onto the "request docking" icon on the radial menu) and land on the pad you are assigned to.
      Needless to say, you also need your landing gear down.

    Just got into this game, I fail to see why anyone would spend money on Elite Dangerous when this exists

    I made this to be quick and therefore the tutorial had very little planning. I might remake this tutorial in the future, not sure.

      Please Do. I feel like I can't truly enjoy this game the way I want because I don't know how to land manually onto planets. Question, can I land on rocky planets even if they don't have inhabitants living there?? There are some cool looking planets that I would love to land on.

    • @WKFO_Space
      @WKFO_Space  2 года назад +1

      @@WilliamsWrestlin You can land anywhere on a rocky planet

      Try using Set Speed mode to travel planetside, it usually makes things quite easy.

    • @pebblegarden
      @pebblegarden 2 года назад +1

      A couple things can make manual landing on planets easier. 1. Don't aim straight down, but come in at a shallow glide angle. 2. Use the Set Speed mode (as mentioned by WKFO) and constantly lower your set speed as you get nearer the surface. With some practice you'll figure out what safe speeds are, for your ship. 3. As you get lower, fly closer to horizontal, thus continually lowering your descent speed even if the ship speed is high. 4. Save your game just before you try the landing, so if you mess up you can reload and try again.
