American Green Berets had been training the Ukrainian's for quite some time prior to this. They are without question the worlds best force multipliers and specialize in the area they are assigned to include culture and language.

I suspect there might be a few berets over there thwapping from a distance. They're always where no one suspects, yet just about everywhere, which is one of the key differences between them and the SEALs, but that's irrelevant except for the fact that that's what makes them useful in this situation

I don’t know about TikTok, but China has the Chinese Anti-Indulgence System (CAIS) that limits how long people can play games in a day, as well as what hours they’re allowed to play during.
The system works off peoples’ NID (equivalent to US SSN), so it tracks time played between games on the same platform; without a valid (and verified with the government) NID, accounts are treated as under 14 with full restrictions.

In April 2021, within three weeks, two armies and three airborne units were successfully transferred to the western borders of the Russian Federation in the areas of combat training tasks. If we consider that the sun never sets over Russia, then this is a very good result. In Russia, there really never is a night all over the country. If it's morning somewhere, then it's night at the other end. And vice versa. The question of such a rapid transfer of troops is only expediency . This is not required for Ukraine, there is a limited contingent fighting there and not a single army in full strength.

For example, Ivanov is the son of Ivan, Chernigiv is the city of Chernig (prince of either the end of the 8th century or the first half of the 9th century). Kyiv - on behalf of Kiy. The language of the 9th-12th centuries differs from the modern languages of the Eastern Slavs, therefore the Ukrainians have Kyiv, and the Russians have Kiev. Ukraine is a reminder of how peaceful and prosperous our lives have been, for so long, and how little we value or even notice that peace in the West. You fight with a bravery few of us have anymore, but it has stirred something in all of us. Ukraine truly is a guiding light to us all.
I hope that that light also will shine in the darkness to the east. That the people of Russia will look at the Ukrainian people as an example that they too can follow. Wars today are so civil. I feel we have gone back to colonial or pre-colonial war. I wish no war on anyone, but any country could decimate any country (or each other) by actually going to war. Russia could of dropped 5-10 tactical nukes and the war would of been over. The entire planet would of retaliated, but wars are now fought by winning hearts and minds.

There are a dozen other cities facing a similar fate. These are cities filled with women and children. Russia is led by a coward with no honour. Just because it could be worse, doesn't mean it's civil, or that these same people aren't capable of ramping it all up some more. It's only been a month, and their levels of barbary are only increasing.

The only aspect I would disagree with here is that Russia resorted to attacking civilians and its scorched earth policy only after it was "backed into a corner." Russia employed the exact same tactics in Syria--bombing hospitals, and even using biological weapons against civilians--and essentially that war, as well as their excursion into the Donbas, were practice runs for the full invasion of Ukraine. If Zelensky had fled Kyiv and UKR had just rolled over in the first few days, maybe it wouldn't have happened, but Russia was bombing maternity wards and sending cruise missiles into office buildings within the first week.

    • @kev792

It’s possible that it probably wouldn’t happen, but Zelensky staying in Ukraine and the military putting Russia into a corner by fighting back is NOT an excuse to bomb civilians, hospitals, schools, and commit war crimes. Plus if Ukraine did give up, they would just be controlled by Russia and wouldn’t be their own sovereign country.

It's because Turkey plays both sides so isn't really a European/Western ally despite being part of NATO somehow (Basically just because NATO needed a safe home somewhere in the middle-east, to counter Soviet influence and aid in repelling any attack on NATO. The most important asset, is the NATO airbases in Turkey which have seen tons of use in the middle-east and Eastern European conflicts and interventions. A NATO airbase in Turkey is also one of the few homes of US Nuclear weapons outside the US, with aircraft nuclear bombs and air launched Nuclear cruise mssiles stored under guard in case something bad enough happens that we need to use and also share our nukes with NATO allys.)
An example of Turkeys questionable loyalty was them picking Russia's S-400 Air Defense System, because of its great performance and critically, Obama kept stalling on selling them the US made Patriot Air Defense System. This resulted in the US kicking Turkey out of the NATO F-35 Program, their pilots training in the US told to leave, and their economic and material role in manufacturing parts for the plane removed and being redistributed to Germany. 2 F-35's were already delivered to Turkey, but not the rest with some given to Greece instead. Think the US refunded Turkeys money put into the F-35 and bought back or at least tried to get back the 2 already in Turkey. Unfortunately they already have the F-35 data since they were a key member of the program which could be shared to or stolen by Russia, and is likely being used for Turkeys new "indigenous" 6th gen stealth fighter to "beat the F-35" (Turkey's also a big weapons manufacturer in NATO).
This also pissed the turks off as another reason also questioning their loyalty, their conflict and border disputes with their NATO "Ally" Greece... apparently Article 5 doesn't include conflicts between NATO members, only outsider attacks against NATO members.
Turkey and the US also back warring factions in the Syrian Civil War, with Turkey declaring the US backed faction "terrorists".
The most recent example is Israel/Hamas, when the Turkish president declared that Israel responding to Hamas's attack on them was "Genocide" against Palestinians and if no one else would help, they "would" if Israel crossed into Gaza to root out Hamas, ya know, the Terrorist organization and self-appointed dictators of the Palestinian Gaza strip. (IIRC they've also been denounced by the "technical" government that's supposed to run and lead Palestine, but ignored by all the fanatics with all the guns and rockets so there's not much they can do). Meanwhile the US has an aircraft carrier group parked off the coast of Israel, and have pledged to defend them in the case that someone opens a second front against them. This was mainly meant to tell Hezbollah in Lebanon and Houthi's in Yemen to "sit", but could also now result in war between Turkey and the US if Turkey attacks Israel for defending themselves from further Hamas attacks, and we intervene to defend Israel like we recently just did with a USN ship shooting down some Yemen/Houthi Missiles fired towards Israel).
(Another reason for Turkey being allowed in NATO is probably NATO needed said airbases AND IRBM missile fields/sites in Turkey as part of their planned defense against the Soviet Union and Com-Bloc/Warsaw-Pact countries. For instance a little known fact is part of the Cuban missile crisis was that the US had IRBM's in Turkey, Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles that close to the Soviets gave them an extremely short time for "Early Warning" in a first strike scenario compared to ICBM's from the US or aircraft bombs/missiles which alarmed the Soviets more than expected, so the Soviets put their own IRBM's in Cuba creating the same issue for the US. Part of the de-escalation ending the Cuban Missile Crisis not widely publicized at the time, was JFK quietly agreeing to remove our Missiles in Turkey if they removed theirs from Cuba.)

Kiev is russian version of spelling. Kyiv is ukrainian.
We (ukrainians) joke that only this damn war (or more like full scale attack) made most english speakers to use actually ukrainian versions of our names. Which we have been requesting for ages.

      You can pronounce like Kee'ev.
Kyjiw would be most correct way in latin alphabet. Fully correct is Київ. Bit complicated to pronounce the ukrainian way because the y j i are very different in pronounciation and they are written after each other, it sounds like: Köüjiv.

Not really. Only one point of view I’m concerned with. Ukraine getting invaded 🇺🇦. Putin wants to increase his sphere of influence by taking over Ukraine and at the same time, make Ukraine a neutral state if he can’t. How about letting Ukraine be it’s own sovereign nation and deciding what path and future they want to take.
