The new numerical scale (4 for commons you would play in all archetypes but aren't pull, then 3/2 archetypes, then 1, then 0) makes a lot of sense for evaluating cards below B (which are actually pulling you in). Great change, it does indeed foster a better conversations among less playable C/D cards.
35:17 - Healer's Hawk at Common could be a serious nuisance. I remember Lost Caverns of Ixalan with Ruin-Lurker Bat as the turn 1 groan-inducing white play and that was an uncommon. You see this thing resolve against you when you're on the draw and realizing it's going to ding you for probably 3-5 damage and gain that much life unless you want to spend precious removal on it or hold back your flier, or hope you have a reach creature.
Hey Ben and Ethan, love your show and listen every week. You are my favourite Limited content creators and have helped me significantly up my Limited game! I am hoping to be in a position to support you on Patreon soon, but things have been tight lately with a recent addition to our family. Thanks for the update on the new planned release schedule however, unfortunately my LGS runs its Draft nights on Wednesday. I'm on the other side of the world (Australia) which means your new release schedule for the main episodes means they won't come until after my chance to draft each week. So sadly I wont be able to benefit from your helpful advice until more than a week later 🙁 I don't think too many other people will be affected like this, as Fridays are a more common day for drafting at LGS, but I just wanted to mention it. Thanks for listening and keep up the good work. PS - I love the idea of a second little episode each week, sounds like a great idea to keep Patreon supporters engaged and I enjoyed the first Lords Unlimited epsiode.
Dreadwing Scavenger looks a lot like Shoreline Looter to me, which was phenomenal despite having the same shortcoming (awful on block in a color that's gonna be behind). Obviously being two colors changes the dynamic, but still
I think it will be possible to set up aetherize in such a way that you get essentially a board wipe if you can get all of your creatures tapped down that your opponent wouldn't want to attack into or a racing situation, it just blows them out when they swing
The new patreon stuff sounds like a great idea! I know folks are weird when they feel like something is being paywalled, but it sounds like a great way to offer more to the people coming over.
Your honor, I Would like to point out that Uncharted Voyage is not basically an effective reprint of the card in duskmourne. There's quite a big difference between "non land permanent" and "creature." I think you might have missed out on that one. Love the content though, have a sub!
I’m not really hype right now for magic in general. I’m raging about the SL Marvel debacle today AND the UB in standard now announcement. HOWEVER I will never miss yalls episodes. So here I am! Can’t wait to watch you get some games in.
You guys of course have the right to charge whatever you want but I think the Monday podcast was a nice niche on a slow day for content, and it would make a lot more sense for the “early access” to be a $5 perk.
Witness protection and atherize might be good in blue white where you can attack over the top, but might not be able to just straight up race the archetypes that are playing better stated creatures
26:00 - I decided to look up where this card was first printed, and it says something to me about where Standard is at that a MH1 uncommon has just moved straight to core-set Standard for 5 years. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Good-Fortune Unicorn is a sleeper Modern hit, but Modern Horizons stuff just landing at new Standard is certainly a change.
How do you guys think drafting this will be compared to previous Core M - sets? Also do you think this se being a feeder into future sets hurts its drafting?
Is it my impression or is Dimir often the worst/one of the worst archetypes? Has anybody ever gone through a bunch of sets to see which color pairs are on average weaker?
Thank you for making the card pics so big! It’s helpful for me as a visually impaired watcher to not need to zoom in and then out for different cards.

Luckily there is a lot kore one mana removal then there was in lci but it will be a nuisance for sure
My ongoing Lords of Limited gripe is with “drain 2, gain 2.” Doesn’t drain already imply they’re losing life and you’re gaining life?

Scavenger is gonna be sweet

Dauntless Veteran + Inspiring Paladin could be wild, i'm anxious for the new set
Considering the Overrun discussion, y'all shoulda seen the LRR PPR. Overrun ended almost every single game during their matches.

Betterhelp is a scam. Downvote
Good timing!
I think Aetherize is good against Red/White as you said, but also Green/White to undo the counters.
I think Aetherize is better than you guys think.

Mtgoldfish podcast was literally saying standard is like 2014-2015 modern
