Oh ya! But you dont really think about the temp when those situations arise. My parents broke through ice on their snowmobiles once and I dove right in the water to help!

You should look into Monty being a dog model. You two could become reasonably well off. When he's standing or lying down on the top of a big rock, looking out over the water, he looks so majestic!

It boggles my mind just thinking about how you set up all these amazing multiple camera shots all by yourself to film yourself on these journeys: Hike out to a good flat camera location and set up the camera at a picturesque distance, then hike all the way back to get your stuff, then hike with all your stuff walking by the camera nonchalantly acting like you were never there, then hiking back to get your camera, checking the camera to make sure you got the shot, then hiking all the way back to get your stuff, then continuing on, rinse and repeat. Not to mention sometimes there's even drone or underwater shots or even POV shots on Monty's back. All this while sometimes wrangling 2 dogs and all your gear in harsh wilderness and weather conditions. Then editing down all this ton of footage together to paint an amazing story for us. That's a lot of work!! I respect you Sir! I'd love to see a behind the scenes "making of" video that demonstrates just how you do all this solo. Some people watch these vids and forget that this is all one dude filming himself with no crew following him like tv shows have. Amazing quality content man! I'm thoroughly addicted to this channel. This is real "reality tv" while tv reality shows have all become so contrived and scripted these days.

I actually prefer watching you camp more with less portages. Camping, fishing, filming your island or site area. Love it when you catch, cook and eat your fish. My husband and I like your goofy but enjoyable experiences, and our dogs love Monty.
Monty is so handsome. He reminds me of Freddy Mercury with those front teeth. So cute. Must say these two are optimists, come rain, sleet, sun, snow or wind they just jump in and enjoy what Mother Nature offers. Bet this was one happy trip.

Every day I leave the office and go home for an hour to have lunch. I pretty much always turn on RUclips. Your vids look pretty darn fantastic on my 60". One thing that has been impressing me, aside from the fantastic content, is the sound quality of your vids. Other RUclipsrs could take lessons from you, dude. Great outdoor canoe tripping in the BWCA, awesome sound quality, good clean hyjinx, nature, beauty, fishing, campfire living, and a fantastic canine companion... a man alone in a canoe in the wilderness with his dog. ... can't get much better than that and stay Rated PG! From the Netherlands here! Monty is the most adorable,relaxed dog i have ever seen and it was Monty that drove me to your videos at first. But now, i have to say, you're so good with the camera! The way you talk and what you are talking about (also mixed with a little humour), absolutely great. Keep doing what you do now and you will become bigger and better than all those other bushcrafters out there on youtube. I stopped following a "bigger"more known youtuber who also does these trips with his dog and his videos are afwull right now (he didnt stay true to himself just for fame), too much commercial going on and also..you are way better with your dog! Much more carring and loving. Just my opinion people! I watched the longer version of this trip and you made it look like i was there with you the whole time.I got this weird tradition every night, when work is done and after diner, i just sit down with a blanket and watch your videos. It is more relaxing than a movie LOL. Anyways, i think you deserve the credits i am giving you now, and keep on doing what you do! I never ever subscribed to anyone, but you will be the first.

"A late start" You mean a normal start? XD You ever think of picking up some MREs to add a unique twist to meal time? You can get First Strike rations which are 24 hour meals (aka, all the calories and such a working man would need in a day), normal MREs that are equivalent to single meals, or if you want to save on weight, some MCWs or Meal Cold Weather which is dehydrated. It's processed food and probably won't be as great tasting as homemade stuff but I think they'd be a cool thing to bring once in a while. You never quite know what all you'll get in an MRE aside from the main meal. As I've been watching this, I've realized that probably the best and most endearing thing about you and your channel (aside from Monty) is how everyman you seem. You look like you could be my coworker at the factory or a guy I see in a outdoors store or Wal-Mart. A lot of RUclipsrs have this kinda "celebrity" glean about them. I could never imagine working with Markiplier, PewDiePie, Mr. Beast, or the numerous other big name RUclipsrs out there in a factory or running into them on the street but with you I can. You also stay 100% away from any kind of politics, even mere mentions of any issues, whereas people like Markiplier or PewDiePie haven't. You also don't give off the feel of an "expert" in what you do but only as someone who has learned from experience and research. I think that helps you appeal to more people than what your overwhelmingly outdoors content would normally allow. Good on you for managing to make that happen. I remember a time when me, my brother, my father, his girlfriend, and her daughter attempted to going camping. Conditions were like what they were in the video but it was unbearably humid and it was raining so much, it leaked into our tent so our stuff and foot of our sleeping bags were soaked. It was horrible. That and bugs are probably what have turned me off of camping for so long. But your videos have shown that when the time and location are right and you have the right stuff, it can be immensely fun. Thanks for that. Stuff has been happening with my job life so I haven't had the chance to gather any stuff or go this year but I'll certainly do it next year.
Your food prep is on point, I love fishing all day and coming home to make a feast out of the simplest catch, but that taste. Monty for Pres. or Prime Minister here in Canada

I personally enjoy going to Quetico and camping around the Sarah Lake area during my trips. My most previous trip I went from the ranger station at Prairie portage all the way to dark water lake and back. It was quite the seven day experience.

You are a fantastic dog master and Monty is a wonderful dog. Montys breed is known as Lassie in Australia because they are not common with our heat. I am looking forward to when I can have a dog again and building a strong relationship like the two of you have. Its a credit to you both.

You ever think of picking up some MREs to add a unique twist to meal time? You can get First Strike rations which are 24 hour meals (aka, all the calories and such a working man would need in a day), normal MREs that are equivalent to single meals, or if you want to save on weight, some MCWs or Meal Cold Weather which is dehydrated. It's processed food and probably won't be as great tasting as homemade stuff but I think they'd be a cool thing to bring once in a while. You never quite know what all you'll get in an MRE aside from the main meal.
As I've been watching this, I've realized that probably the best and most endearing thing about you and your channel (aside from Monty) is how everyman you seem. You look like you could be my coworker at the factory or a guy I see in a outdoors store or Wal-Mart. A lot of RUclipsrs have this kinda "celebrity" glean about them. I could never imagine working with Markiplier, PewDiePie, Mr. Beast, or the numerous other big name RUclipsrs out there in a factory or running into them on the street but with you I can. You also stay 100% away from any kind of politics, even mere mentions of any issues, whereas people like Markiplier or PewDiePie haven't. You also don't give off the feel of an "expert" in what you do but only as someone who has learned from experience and research. I think that helps you appeal to more people than what your overwhelmingly outdoors content would normally allow. Good on you for managing to make that happen.
I remember a time when me, my brother, my father, his girlfriend, and her daughter attempted to going camping. Conditions were like what they were in the video but it was unbearably humid and it was raining so much, it leaked into our tent so our stuff and foot of our sleeping bags were soaked. It was horrible. That and bugs are probably what have turned me off of camping for so long. But your videos have shown that when the time and location are right and you have the right stuff, it can be immensely fun. Thanks for that. Stuff has been happening with my job life so I haven't had the chance to gather any stuff or go this year but I'll certainly do it next year.
Your food prep is on point, I love fishing all day and coming home to make a feast out of the simplest catch, but that taste.

I personally enjoy going to Quetico and camping around the Sarah Lake area during my trips. My most previous trip I went from the ranger station at Prairie portage all the way to dark water lake and back. It was quite the seven day experience.
