People do not know that all domesticate animals are amazing pet, when you put them in an environnement where they can be themselves. Even fish. Some fish love to be pet and having interactions. Chicken put their head into your neck when they want to cuddle. Cows have best friends. Goats love to be pet and learning tricks for their favorite treat. Guinea pigs love to cuddle. Rabbits kick the ground with one rear legs when their are mad, lizards know their name... all animals have feeling. All animals have intelligence. I mean... trees "talks" to each others and support each others when one was dying or sick. If a tree can do that, imagine what animals can do... ^^
Love how most of yall commenting "don't eat animals, they have feelings" eat meat, or support those industries in some way. Also people have been eating turkeys for thanksgiving for hundreds of years, and turkeys have been domesticated for thousands more. Why stop now?

My Tom passed just a few weeks ago. I still can’t even say the words out loud. People may think poultry don’t have feelings like we do, but my Tom loved life more than I do. It feels like a tragedy that he can’t experience all of life’s loves and joys. But I’m so glad he did once. And I’m so glad Lemon gets that as well.

I fully understand...I have pigeons that I love as much as your tom...and the ones I lost over the years still tear me apart...but you will see him again someday just like I will see all my pigeons and so many other pets I loved...I'm a 75 year old man who still cries when I think of them..may you feel peace in knowing how much you loved each other..I'm so sorry you have to feel so hurt..grief is love with no where to go...

My mother is in her late 70’s and has daily visits from at least forty wild turkeys multiple times a day. She goes outside to refill her bird feeders and she whistles and they know her whistle and come running! It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Turkeys are actually pretty smart creatures and I enjoy watching my mother smile because she says they give her a reason to get out of bed every day since my father died. Animals are better company than most humans ❤

I love how sweet and empathetic this lady is, and I really appreciate how she respected the way her neighbors lived with raising their own food! Lemon is an incredibly sweet bird, it is so interesting to see how she interacts with her world.
I’m glad that she demonize them, she just spoke about her own feelings and how it was hard for her. For the ones raising food birds, they may even feel it’s more ethical than buying from the store when you don’t know what kind of conditions they were raised in. It’s not comfortable to be part of an omnivore species when you feel so strongly for the animals we use for food. I really appreciate that she didn’t try to paint them as “bad” people despite that.

She's adorable There is a place in my heart for blind animals as I adopted a blind dog and she was the light of my life. My best friend had a pet turkey and the darned thing was the world's best watchdog. LOL TY for adopting Lemon.
Raising my first white meat turkey, as a pet, not food. Added her to my chickens, ducks and goose. She loves the yard and hanging with us all. She knocks on my door sometimes for treat or even wanting to come in. We talk back and forth everyday. I was surprised that she was so interactive.
That's great! Turkeys really are lots of fun, they're somewhere on the scale of a cat or dumb dog, but with a weird bird twist! If you haven't already, look up some information on rationing feed. Unfortunately the broad-breasted breeds are somewhat doomed, but you can extend their life by restricting how much they eat. Best of luck to you and your snoodly pal
@@holysirsalad it can be used as both aggression and unsettled, my Turkey does that when feeling spooked or unsettled, also have a mostly blind chicken and she makes the noises a broody hen (a hen hatching eggs) makes, these are usually aggressive, but she just makes them because she is scared of being blind. Lemon probably just makes those to navigate her world, animals not born blind don’t understand why they can’t see anymore.
Animals do have feelings and the pureness of your empathy allows you to understand everything about lil Lemon. I'm so glad you rescued her. She's beautiful.
You are a wonderful person. I had the same relationship with a blind goose. I feed a flock of 15 wild turkeys here, on Hawaii Island. They are super smart birds.
Funny how her being blind led to her survival and living a pampered life. She has moments of being so sweet and moments when molting that make her grumpy.

Turkeys make great pets. They can form strong bonds with their owners. They are really affectionate if you raise them from chicks. I hatched meat turkeys and now I have 4 turkey pets. They were supposed to be BBQED. Something about raising them from hatchlings changes your mind, lol.
Turkeys are the best pets! My big tom, churchin, lived in the house. Danced for me when I came home. Ate with dogs and drank out of toilet with them. I loved him so much !!

I've heard before that raising turkeys for food is hard because they have such big personalities andvare hard to not get attached to unless you really keep your distance.
They follow you around like any cat or dog and want to hang out all the time.* They'll come and hassle you (in their own way) when it's bed time. If they miss you they'll come up to the house and peer in the windows. We've had various turkeys tell us off for being annoying, point out threats, and ask for scritches. One day a few years back one of the boys followed my wife, myself, and the barn cat on a slow walk through the woods. Just happy to come along, and even put up with the cat rubbing against him! Depending on the mood. If you're being boring they'll wander on
@@holysirsalad I raised 3 turkeys for a family friend who had been given 3 fertile Turkey eggs but was going on a trip for a month, I raised them up to 2 months. I got my pick of one to keep, they’re only requirement being that I didn’t stick them with 2 males, luckily it was 1 Tom and 2 hens, I picked the little runt, well actually she picked me, she cried if I wasn’t with her for even a few minutes. They took Elvis & Priscilla, named after Elvis Presley and his wife, and I kept Brown Sugar. Sadly Priscilla was eaten by a great horned owl a week after they took them back due to insufficient enclosure safety. She is 6 months now and we just call her Turkey most of the time. She lives with our chickens and likes flying onto the neighbors shed… she also likes flying onto our roof, but we just have to call her and she flies right back. They are Standard Bronze crossed with Sweetgrass, Priscilla and Elvis just looked like bronzes, sugar on the other hand is a beautiful dusty mousy brown and she has the white wing stripes of a bronze which looks quite lovely on her color, they all had such unique personalities and I can’t eat Turkey now without thinking about Elvis’s sweet little goofy face… I don’t eat Turkey anymore, still eat chicken tho-
Lemon is really lucky for her breed. I've seen a rescue video from Germany, where the turkey at one year old had so much, and heavy, breastflesh that he could hardly walk and not at all fly... her human said that she knew her turkey remembered "when he was younger and could still fly"... heartbreaking.
I raise turkeys (along with other birds) and they, by far, are my favorites. They're smart, funny, a bit ornery- okay a lot ornery and they have such deep feelings. They absolutely can have their feelings hurt, be jealous and hold a grudge. They all know their names and will come when they are called. Your girl has some male characteristics, it might be from growing up as the only turkey.

Turkeys are the best pets! My big tom, churchin, lived in the house. Danced for me when I came home. Ate with dogs and drank out of toilet with them. I loved him so much !!

I've heard before that raising turkeys for food is hard because they have such big personalities andvare hard to not get attached to unless you really keep your distance.
They follow you around like any cat or dog and want to hang out all the time.* They'll come and hassle you (in their own way) when it's bed time. If they miss you they'll come up to the house and peer in the windows. We've had various turkeys tell us off for being annoying, point out threats, and ask for scritches. One day a few years back one of the boys followed my wife, myself, and the barn cat on a slow walk through the woods. Just happy to come along, and even put up with the cat rubbing against him!

@@holysirsalad I raised 3 turkeys for a family friend who had been given 3 fertile Turkey eggs but was going on a trip for a month, I raised them up to 2 months. I got my pick of one to keep, they’re only requirement being that I didn’t stick them with 2 males, luckily it was 1 Tom and 2 hens, I picked the little runt, well actually she picked me, she cried if I wasn’t with her for even a few minutes. They took Elvis & Priscilla, named after Elvis Presley and his wife, and I kept Brown Sugar. Sadly Priscilla was eaten by a great horned owl a week after they took them back due to insufficient enclosure safety. She is 6 months now and we just call her Turkey most of the time. She lives with our chickens and likes flying onto the neighbors shed… she also likes flying onto our roof, but we just have to call her and she flies right back. They are Standard Bronze crossed with Sweetgrass, Priscilla and Elvis just looked like bronzes, sugar on the other hand is a beautiful dusty mousy brown and she has the white wing stripes of a bronze which looks quite lovely on her color, they all had such unique personalities and I can’t eat Turkey now without thinking about Elvis’s sweet little goofy face… I don’t eat Turkey anymore, still eat chicken tho-

Lemon is really lucky for her breed. I've seen a rescue video from Germany, where the turkey at one year old had so much, and heavy, breastflesh that he could hardly walk and not at all fly... her human said that she knew her turkey remembered "when he was younger and could still fly"... heartbreaking.
She got dealt a way better hand than those other dinner turkeys!

I raise turkeys (along with other birds) and they, by far, are my favorites. They're smart, funny, a bit ornery- okay a lot ornery and they have such deep feelings. They absolutely can have their feelings hurt, be jealous and hold a grudge. They all know their names and will come when they are called.
Your girl has some male characteristics, it might be from growing up as the only turkey.
