You shouldnt be. There one of the few predators that youre more of a threat to them than they are to you. That being said Red Tails are territorial and you shouldn't get to close to a wild one. But even if that did happen the worst youd get are some scars and cuts on your upper body. It cant kill you, in fact with a stiff backhand you can really mess up a bird. Thats why they are so protected in the United States. ....that and DDT. 😢
Nope! There's only one species of snake that spits , and it's the spitting-cobra. That spit has pin-point accuracy. There's no creature's eyes that doesn't get irritated from its venom. This hawk wouldn't have killed a spitting cobra. That's a footage that I wanna see. I've already seen footage of an eagle losing to a black mamba.

I have a red tail hawk nest in my backyard and they are nesting right now. Yesterday one of the parents flew right over me carrying a snake about a foot and a half long...damn I WISH I had my phone with me to video that!!! wow....
Awesome Nancy. I love birds of prey. We have a Pair of Great Horned Owls that have nested in our backyard for the past two years. I’ve found Squirrel and bunny body parts but no snakes yet. Watching them catching a snake would be cool.

Awhile back i read a page on an Oudoor News Magazine here in South Texas where a patrolling Game Warden noticed a Hawk swooped down on some brushland and saw all the russlting and got off to go check, to his surprise he saw a (black Indigo) wrapped around the predator nearly choking the Hawk to death!,..Happy ending was a saved Hawk as Officer pulled the fight apart!, Regards from South Texas!

Are Hawks and other large birds immune to snake's venom? surely tussling with these serpents it will strike them a few times, but you never really hear about if the venom has any affects on the birds later on

They also do a matador technique in which they try to get the snake to aim at the feathers and strike the snakes head when they pull the wing away. Tragically though there have been multiple scenarios in which a snake or cat has killed the hawk instead of vice versa.
Red Tails have scales on their legs and the snake's fangs cannot penetrate that armor. Hence they can take out rattlesnakes. That is an interesting process.
