The Hawks, Eagles, Falcons, and other birds of prey have two things in common... they have powerful beaks and claws like a mechnical vice-grip... once they got hold of their prey, they are doomed...

The Red Tailed Hawk is awesome, but just as a reminder, make sure to appreciate the gopher snake (I think) a little too. Snakes are an important middle link in the food chain, they help keep small pest populations under control, and then feed medium sized mammals and birds of prey when their time comes.

You shouldnt be. There one of the few predators that youre more of a threat to them than they are to you.
That being said Red Tails are territorial and you shouldn't get to close to a wild one. But even if that did happen the worst youd get are some scars and cuts on your upper body. It cant kill you, in fact with a stiff backhand you can really mess up a bird. Thats why they are so protected in the United States.

Nope! There's only one species of snake that spits , and it's the spitting-cobra. That spit has pin-point accuracy. There's no creature's eyes that doesn't get irritated from its venom. I know some people like Dingo love all animals like snakes and I can respect that. I on the other hand adore the birds that kills them. Such graceful creatures. They are the majestic guardians of the sky and no one can mess with them!

We have some BIG red tails here in ohio...just watched one take out a sneaky snake just like this video and then he flew off too...he heard me from 75 yards at least...what great senses they have. I even saw a big red take out two falcons once...they thought that they hadt he upper hand and boy oh boy he showed them a thing or two...was like national geographic when he grabbed them one at a time and gave them the beak then perched himself and looked at them with his headdress sticking straight up...they flew off in the opposite direction after they had composed themselves from the whoopin haha. I used to line near Washington,pa. now I`m near kent.ohio..good day :o) Jean

Sun Tzu taught that when fighting on open ground where surprise is difficult is likely to be helpful for the stronger force. That snake paid a terrible price being the weaker force on open ground . lol

Are Hawks and other large birds immune to snake's venom? surely tussling with these serpents it will strike them a few times, but you never really hear about if the venom has any affects on the birds later on

Their great eyesight and small body size gives them great reaction time. It's weird how it works but typically they don't get bit. They also do a matador technique in which they try to get the snake to aim at the feathers and strike the snakes head when they pull the wing away.
Tragically though there have been multiple scenarios in which a snake or cat has killed the hawk instead of vice versa.

Red Tails have scales on their legs and the snake's fangs cannot penetrate that armor. Hence they can take out rattlesnakes. That is an interesting process.

can not believe the snake stayed alive that long as birds of prey sink those talons in real deep to any thing they catch.
