Good race. He beat my team of 4 by a couple hours. We had a broken arm and took 12 hours to get into him on the race course. Bike was mangled and had no head lights but we finished. 46 hours for our time! Great job!
"I know how to read the terrain, Sylvon.", Gregg Godfrey circa 1997 below Factory Butte at Swingarm City, Utah. A.K.A., Cainville. Gregg was an accomplished desert racer in his youth and it comes as no surprise to me that he did so well! Congratulations Gregg!
I raced Baja for a number of years and I tip my hat to anyone that rides the whole 1000 on a bike. I was at this race in a Class 1 car. However, the title of this video is deceiving. This is no "World Record". The course is different every year.
We raced that race... with 5 guys!! I mean, what they tried to accomplish is just insane. All the pre-run issues and prep is typical for most. Even the most professional have those kinds of issues. I laughed at the pre-run with no lights, it's a great way to prep for the race as you can lose your lights at some point. Just par for course and how luck plays part in so many miles. I loved the lack of knowledge for the GPS ... like your going to be able to see the screen anyway. The course is never marked well enough, and when your seeing double in the dust with campfires and Trophy Truck lights coming from behind... it's just like being on another planet. Super weird feeling. Something you just can't describe. The "meal plan" was another that seems to always be an issue. Nothing wrong with tacos... until, your body revolts at 80+ mph. I mean... I've been there, and it's not fun. All I had on me during a pre-run were rain-x wipes. Oh boy... infused with alcohol. Sphincter and alcohol is no bueno. Hats off to Greg for that ride. Travis too. But to finish... is just a monumental moment. We raced Class 22, and came in 4th bike in our class. At 29:30:35 (29.5hrs). My section, only being 320 miles and I had some issues in that short of a span. Man, I'm just amazed at what they accomplished that year. Thinking Travis was on par to make the finish about the time we did if his bike hadn't of died. JUST AMAZING.
Can somebody explain the duct tape methodology and theory behind it? Blister prevention? Extra support? Crash protection? Are people still doing this today? Or is there better glove tech nowadays?
Ever had your nipples chaffed so bad they’re bleeding? Motocross and supercross guys go 30 minutes max. When you’re racing 3+ hour races in the rain, mud so sloppy you sink, snow and ice? Duct tape around your body and over the nipples is essential protective equipment. 😂😂
I’ve had a few DRZs great bikes but not for this an XR is ten times more rugged and dependable I get he’s a Suzuki guy but even a DR650 would have been better than that.

Congrats to you and your team!
I thought only 3 people completed it?

Great Race! Congratulations on your finishes.
Travis, what were you thinking, XR650R all the way dude!
He’s a Sazuki man but an xr would’ve survived the whole race and been good enough to ride back home
Way to have fun Godfrey Team!
One of the better things I’ve ever saw on RUclips! Awesome run!!
Dude, check out the Into the Dust movies here on RUclips. There's 4 of them. About 100x more in depth than this one.
Pastrana should have been on ol trusted Honda 650r,just ask Campbell or hengenfeld.
Go Big Red Pig
@@davidkris true that.
He couldn’t at the time. He was under suzuki contract. Now last I heard he was with ktm. But that may be over now

Baja is life
Greg is my hero
Didn't Mouse McCoy Do It In, 'From Dust To Glory'? Thank You.
Where do the other racers get there superfoods? I've seen banana, power bars ect.ect.

Crazy
Awesome!
What bike was travis riding? An rmz450?
DRZ400
Is that a DRZ400?
Awesome vid
The duct tape to support the wrist?
Nope, on the hands for blistering and on the wrists to prevent chaffing from the jersey flapping in the wind!
Great ride Greg...you all have Huavo’s...
That wasn’t the longest it has been check the mileage for the 2000 Baja it was longer.

2007… way old
drz 400 ?
Why did he tape his hands?
To protect his hands from getting even worse blisters.
Sorry guys already been done ten years ago. Mouse mcCoy!
\
Mouse did iron man it but gregg was the longest iron man run to date. Point to point, over 1300 miles🤘
Booby traps and 30 hours or more..
Amazing race... Poorly made video
typical american sport where money largely determines who succeeds
lol stop being poor then
