Woodturning - You're A Wizard ...... Harry Smith

This is the first of my four videos making artistic interpretations of the Harry Potter Hogwarts house wands. After the positive response to my first wand video I thought this was a more than necessary next step!
The handle of this wand is a piece of crotch Yew from my garden, and the stem of the wand is curly American hard maple. Both have been sanded to 1000 grit and finished with Danish Oil and Wood Wax.
I used my new dremel to carve three claw/talon shapes into the top of the handle to signify Ravenclaw!

Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practise. The gloves I wear are tight fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing.
