Extremely helpful information for people just getting into climbing (not just kids) and even some of us more experienced climbers that didn't know what goes into the differences of the various shoes.

Great video. I find climbing shoes hard enough as an adult and buying for my kids wasn't easy. Nice guide and a must watch for anyone new to climbing, for their kids.

Thank you for all the effort that went into to video. I usually wear Euro 32 street and thinking of buying a new climbing shoes with more toe hook coverage.

Im thinking of buying the scarpa drago kids for my daughters. Unfortunately they dont stock them in my country so I need to buy them internationally and ship them here.. How does the sizing run from your experience. Should I buy the same size as their street shoes?

Disclaimer: Every foot and fit is unique. That being said the Dragos were one of the most "close to size" we found. They also had the most stretch (uncomfortable at first, going from a flat shoe, having to take them off between sessions but then they were fine after a few days in the gym). However in hindsight I wish we sized them up a half or full size because they only lasted a few months before ScratchRick had a growth spurt and grew out of them. He now uses the Butora Comps (because Butora sponsors his team) but the Dragos remain the most comfortable and flexible advanced shoe he's tried.

I personally just dont think kids should be wearing agressive narrow shoes while they are developing. The damage to the feet is irreversible and that can take a couple years of their lives in the long run.

ScratchRicks dad here. To a certain extent I agree which is why I make a point several times to encourage comfort first and foremost, especially before and as I get to the "aggressive" shoes. But for kids who are competing a more "aggressive" shoe that still fits well is fine (we've inquired about this ourselves). The key is to make sure the shoe fits growing feet well and isn't "downsized" like adults do often scrunching their toes. As long as it's not painful or too tight and fits properly it shouldn't be a concern. We'd never encourage kids taking it to the extreme with overly tight shoes. The Butora Arcos are the most agressive shoe we got him and they are sized up (too big now) and he'll only wear them when and for as long as they fit properly. Thank you for your valid input.

I think that only applies to kids wearing shoes not properly fitted.
