I have been emailing 5.11 pretty much daily to bring back this line because I need the helmet/shove it AND admin gear sets. But I'm only one voice. You have the followers and viewers. Maybe together we can all get them to bring back one of the best bag lines ever made for pro and every day users!
Is this bag really that good? I just got the Rush 24 series... I did look at the AMP series but then ... The prices SHOT WAY UP when they were out of stock as much as 600+
I agree, four reasons why I won't get this bag: 1. Stiff backpanel 2. No external bottle holders (I like to see having both options, the internal bottle holders for when i carry less stuff AND external for when I am loading out) 3. I would like to see less curvature on the bottom so that the bag sits flush on the ground and does not flip over. 4. Vertical Zips for the internal admin pouch. I also think the top compression strap should be mounted an inch or so lower. Love the admin gearset though.
I think the reason they opted for the hard back panel was due to durability and structural rigidity. I have the AMP12, same back panel. The pack is built very rugged , its no doubt gonna be heavier and less finessed than your comfy ergonomic hiking-specific packs. 5.11 predominantly makes gear for the military/law enforcement/emergency responder market, where durability and function often comes before comfort. Think about wearing a ballistic vest or anything else in between you and the pack - at that point you wont feel a difference between an anti-gravity mesh panel or this hard molded foam. At least in my opinion. I like this pack for throwing over my shoulder whether im going out in the bush, going to work, etc, and not having to worry about it getting scuffed or damaged.
Love your bag reviews! Just picked up the amp 72 and it’s serving my needs perfectly! If you haven’t found out yet, the female buckles are removable. Takes a little work, but they do come off so you can address your double buckle issue. Keep up the great reviews!!!
Love the review and I have to tell the back is what works for me, perfect for my back but I do not trek with it, is for work use, the AMP 24 is my EDC, the AMP 12 is my medkit and the AMP 72 lives in my car, I finally decluttered and got rid of every backpack I had (dozens) and cleared out everything I don't use, I also have the LV10 sling for not work-related EDC, I'm set and happy about it, finally got everything in order. The price is always an issue with 5.11but is kinda understandable, I was lucky enough to find the 12 and 72 with quick deploy and admin gear set second hand (refurbished aka, cleaned up and stuff) for only £180 and I grabbed the 24 and the sling on a black Friday discount, made those purchases in a day, I was quite chuffed with my luck
Just got one today and absolutely impressed with the 15 inch laptop. I don't have to use the inside bag like I did on my Rush 24. And pockets in the right places.
Love the vid! Thanks for checking this out. I was looking at this, but passed because it's 300 bucks, there-a-bouts, for a backpack. I ended up going with the UTG pack, because it's circa 50 bucks for a modern back with all the things a person expects.
The female buckles on the Gear sets are actually split inside of the loop holding them on, to make them removable. Similar to the way you remove the G-Hooks from the loops, but you can barely see the split. You have to work at it, but you only have to remove them from the bag if you want to put an accessory gear set on and don't want 2 female buckles.
George DEFINED Although I loved the idea of the bag and bought all of the gear sets, I had to get rid of it. I couldn’t stand the side water bottle pockets as they were awkward to deal with. Also didn’t like all of the straps for EDC. And the double buckles on the bottom of the bag with the admin gear set messed with my OCD 🤷🏼♂️😆
I watching revives about this backpack and for me, it was a question of why on some foto and preview mother buckles placed on a loop panel and in other on backpack body. Now I understand thanks!
Thanks for a thorough review! I've come close to buying this bag a few times now, but just couldn't be sure that it was right for me. The cons are very valid and are things to really consider. I was really questioning the comfort of this bag with that back panel, so again, thank you for covering it! Much appreciation! =)
Hey Kilo, do you still like it? Coming from Germany myself i wonder if i should get this one, the TT Modular 30 or the Helikon Bug Out Bag ( which Looks not that good imho). I want to use it to transport climbing gear and for daytrips doing geocaching.
@@GeorgeDEFINED is that a standing offer? Because unfortunately I'm all the way across the big pond in Europe. But you never know where life brings you and I never say never to an opportunity. I'm definitely going back to US at some point, I'm in love with the west, where are you at?
Perfect review. Despite the fact you didn't fall on love with it, thanks to your review I bought it and really felt in love with! I took the shove-it Gear set with it which really makes it the perfect edc backpack for me! I just agree with you, the edc panel inside is a little bit tricky to access. Anyway, super nice review and channel! Cheers from France 🇫🇷💪🏻 (I apologize for the mistakes I'm not a native English that's why 😅)
Awesome review! I just bought this pack (like an hour ago) from my local 5.11 store. I'm looking forward to filling this pack up and putting it through the paces.
The female buckles do come off. Just bought the bag a few weeks ago, so far I’m liking it. Thinking of putting a plate in the back instead of a laptop.
Hey Nicholas, Yeah, one of the designers from 5.11 wrote a comment and told me the buckle do come off. I must have missed it . I'm glad you found something you like. Thanks for watching and the comment. See ya
Great review.. I like the video inserts you did showing a little more detail while explaining the features of the pack. I just picked up the 5.11 Rapid Orgin pack and pretty quickly realized it's just not what I wanted.. especially after seeing your review of the AMP24. I like the loop panels inside the main compartment, one thing I've always wanted in the 5.11 packs is more internal organization, now with that panel, I can organize with the gear sets or the ccw holsters/ccw mag pouches that 5.11 puts out..
I'm always in search for that perfect bag that can fulfill multiple roles. I'm not in the military or law enforcement, but I do a lot of missionary and humanitarian work in places where roller luggage or even duffel bags are just not practical. Thank you for your in depth reviews and criticisms.
hey mate, can you give me some feedback on the 5.11 amp24? are they really not comfortable in back? is it easy to organize in the inside of the pack? thanks mate.
@@awelbendebel8015 Hi dude, can't comment on the 5.11 AMP24 as I've bought the Rush 24hr, if it's the same then it's VERY comfortable to wear - the shoulder straps are shaped for comfort, the weight distribution around the shoulders is great. The actualy main internal body of the backpack is just one big space and yeah, stuff does tend to bounce around so consider using a couple of smaller packs to compartmentalise or a drypack and some smaller packs. There's enough pockets to store stuff too
DOUBLE FEMALE BUCKET problem with gear set. Dont know if you know now or if somone have told you, but when you have put your gear set on and get those double female buckles on top of each other, you can remove the bucle thats on the backpack. its a little hard to do because the rubber is stiff, but you can do it. The female buckle is open (it has like a cut in it, but the rubber covers it), so you can put the rubber through and get it uf. you just have to wrestle a little more with the backpack because the rubber is hard. I have seen it in a video. Hope it helps if you are still using the backpack.
Hey Katelyn, Thanks for the info. Sorry I missed that in the review. I like the work your team is doing pushing new designs for tactical gear. Thanks for the comment. See ya ✌🏾
Man, if this pack at the same mesh back support as the All Hazard Nitro/Prime then it would be the perfect backpack! I'm a technician that works on IT communication systems on vessels (especially while they are under construction) which means I need to have most of my tools with me at all times. The comfort of a bag I choose is one of the top priorities. I'm tempted to give this a try just for the sake of it's versatility, but it's a shame that it seems (based on your comments) that comfort is sacrificed on this otherwise awesome bag!
@@GeorgeDEFINED Currently, for my job and EDC, I'm using a North Face Surge backpack, and it does everything I currently need. However, I have (since originally commenting on your video) tried the All Hazards Prime by 5.11 and I didn't like it too much. I've seen some reviews about the comfort level of the AMP24 and I was surprised to find that a lot of people do indeed find it comfortable. I'll have to get my hands on it and try it out for myself, as I'm sure opinions change based on individual body types and such. Thanks for your honest review. I tried on at 5.11 store and felt the same uncomfortable back. I also tried the Dart 24 and LV18 you reviewed and found them very comfortable. Great review!
Love my LV18, it's currently my college backpack! I'm thinking of getting the LV6, which is basically a fanny pack that attaches to the bottom front of the LV18 and adds 3 liters to the overall capacity.
Hey Tom, Thanks for your comment. It makes me feel two ways that you had a similar experience with this pack as me. One bad because this pack has alot of potential, good because it backs up my thoughts on this pack. See ya.. PEACE
I wish I had seen your awesome review before buying , I agree with every point exactly. Overall it's to flawed a few quirks I can live with but in just a minutes wear its uncomfortable due to the back panel , this packs gonna come back and bite them in the ass. Also I find the hexgrid a fail its very weak and won't hold up. What a shame might have been a game changer but ruined sadly
Hey deltatoofow, You make some good points. I love 5.11 I hope they learn from this and take some of the good design features and put them in an even better pack. See ya PEACE
Great review man! I just got the same pack and I thought the same about the ccw pouch, I believe it’s supposed to be kinda concealed but I mean it does it’s purpose. Could definitely be more concealed or secure
Is this bag good? It looks damn solid and sturdy & just looks good! I always seen 5.11 tactical and wanted to try one.... N this AMP pack seems perfect... Let me know thanks brother. Great review btw.
Hi George, thank for your complete video, do you know the specific frontal pouch that you put in the AMP 24 ? If you have the link ? Thanks for your help.
Very nice review, unlike the other RUclips ball licker affiliates. Thank you for the honest review. Still buying one but think it might be a bit too big for my edc.
Great thorough review. It seems if you don't have the same loadout needs, this bag is really good. However, for most EDC packs, I feel like the modularity is a bit overboard. Thoughts?
Hey BS, This one has a crazy amount of pockets. I like to know where my stuff is but I want pockets with a purpose. Thanks for the comment and for watching. See ya
@@GeorgeDEFINED Will buy the Admin gear pack this week. I have the Rush 12 and 24 as well. I got this one as it kinda looks cool. Once again I loved the review.
Just got mine in the mail today. I’m still fidgeting with it. As for first impressions is concerned, it’s a pretty cool pack. I will be ordering an AMP plate carrier as win the near future along with a couple different gear sets.
Hi its great review I got one AMP 24. I got MSI 15.6 inch and which is tightly fit in the laptop/ bladder compartment. I live in south east asia. so I am worrying about the water resistance of laptop bladder compartment. I can't use additional sleeve as in my previous backpack. what's your experience and opinion of putting laptop without additional cover in 5.11 laptop compartments. thanks
I have the amp72, and I ended up removing the plastic stiffener and the aluminum hoop. It’s so much more comfortable! The bag actually conforms to your back.
Yo George ! Wassup bro great review ! I heard you can take out the back panel to cut the weight. Perhaps that can also fix the back issue.keep up the good work bro.
Yeah, actually, with a hip belt (which I cannibalized from another bag) the back support distributes almost all the weight on the hips, which is the way it should be. Personally, I think it's a positive rather than a negative.
Have you checked out the LV10 yet? I sold my moab 6, and my moab 10. The LV 10 is a winner! Is that a leatherman juice I gave mine to one of my kids and now want it back lol.
@@pollock56th how does it compare to the AMP 24? I'm thinking of switching my MOAB slingbag for the AMP10, but I'm not sure how it will hand when converted to a singlestrap or how sturdy the removable clips are. Any thoughts?
@@stephenpatrick11 Slinging the AMP10 is not very comfortable compared to the LV10 or the Moab 10. The LV is by leaps and bounds the most comfortable sling bag for me. Try not to exceed 12lbs with any sling bag thats just my opinion.
@@pollock56th what about the CCW of the amp10 versus the Moab. Any pros or cons on access or security? Last the Moab interior is almost perfect for me. How did it compare to the amp10.
Is there any water bottle attachment to go outside without messing up the space available inside? I’ve got a north face backpack currently and it has a similarly designed water bottle pouch so i can’t put in both my bottle and books at the same time
like the review, what do you think about using it as a travel bag for around 2 weeks? Im a minimal kinda guy so dont need a lot of space but the AMP72 might be a better option?
I don't understand why you can't see your stuff beneath the NET.. I can even identify those just watching this vid.. But good advise to have it all zippered that's another plus..
George DEFINED ah good. Seriously considering this pack as a possible alternative to my Rush 24 for one bag travel. Thanks for the review! One thing I always find 5.11 packs do is carry a heavy load as comfortably as possible.
Yes, I regret to bought this AMP 24. The back panel and shoulder straps are just so uncomfortable. Its too hard that make the shoulder tired quickly. I am consider switching to Vertx Checkpoint.
@@GeorgeDEFINED For sure brother, I was only asking because I have the M4 LV 20L rifle bag for one of my AR's...the cushioning is different so comfort isn't a question but removing the panel in some cases does help with that contour some may want...dope videos though.
hi fellow EDC enthusiast. hope you can help me with my dilemma... i am really interested in getting an EDC covert tactical bag. i am now using a TNF surge bag for my EDC (school/gym). i am looking to getting either maxpedition riftcore or the 5.11 amp24 (tho im leaning more towards the riftcore), i like them coz of the clam shell opening (i havent tried a bag with a clam shell opening but i think they would be much easy to organize and access things in and out) and the modularity option for both bags. My gripe is that both of them have quick release buckles, and i am carrying everyday atleast 15-18 lbs of gear, books, laptop, gym stuff and i am always in daily commute, train jeepneys and buses. i am afraid that the quick release buckles might accidentaly snap off while carrying heavy gear (especially when seats are full i just sometimes hang on the jeepney and/or buses railings 😄👊💪). also i intend to use it in hiking, so again my concern is that the quick realease buckles might accidenrally snap off while hiking in steep slippery hills and tje bag with its heavy load might put me off balance and get into a mishap 🤕😂🤕. So to make the long story short, id highly apprexiate any experience, feedbacks comments or suggestion regarding on should i still consider investing (i said investing because they cost a lot), or if there are something that i can do to remedy and make sure the the buckles would sure be not to accidentally relase off. **** and also what can i do to cover the grommet holes at the bottom of the maxpedition riftcore, i dont see me having any use for it, and moisture and dirt (as ill be again using tje bag for hiking) might actually sip in the grommet hole **** thanks for reading my long post... hope you can give me a good advise as i really like the compartmentalization of these great bags (self confessed O.C. 😊😊😊) thanks again a lot mate.

1. Stiff backpanel
2. No external bottle holders (I like to see having both options, the internal bottle holders for when i carry less stuff AND external for when I am loading out)
3. I would like to see less curvature on the bottom so that the bag sits flush on the ground and does not flip over.
4. Vertical Zips for the internal admin pouch.

I hope you like it. See ya ✌🏾
@@GeorgeDEFINED agreed , so close to being an amazing pack disappointing ,back to the Rush 24 for me
I appreciate the review. I'm looking for a great bag and this looks great (except for the backplate issue..).
Glad it was helpful!
It's a Business, 511 along with other backpack manufacturers, they have to make Money!
I loop in the extra buckles on the admin gear set under the gear set that way they are concealed and they stay in there due to the velcro
How do you find the back panel?
@@kidbuddha86 Its great lot of support but stll allows for good airflow, this is a great bag
Nice review. The loops over the zippers aren't for a theft deterrent. They are for anti-snag. At least that is my impression anyway.
Hmmmm🤔.. Thanks for the feedback and for watching.. See ya ✌🏾
Sweet Review of the 5.11 Amp Backpack. 😎👍 Thank You
Thanks Steven.. Be Safe ✌🏾
New subscriber, great in depth video.👍
Hey Medicmartinez, Thanks for the sub and the comment. See ya
A wonderfully thorough review, thank you!
Moazam thanks for the comment.. See ya ✌🏾
Man I just really enjoyed your review. Also first person that I’ve heard mention how uncomfortable back panel is. Now I don’t know if imma get it
Great review man! I just got the same pack and I thought the same about the ccw pouch, I believe it’s supposed to be kinda concealed but I mean it does it’s purpose. Could definitely be more concealed or secure
Yeah Ethan, I just wish it was more secure. Great design on this pack. They just missed a couple of things for me. See ya
Is this bag good? It looks damn solid and sturdy & just looks good! I always seen 5.11 tactical and wanted to try one.... N this AMP pack seems perfect... Let me know thanks brother. Great review btw.
Esa mochila es buenisima la voi a comprar muy buena revisión amigo gracias
Hi George, thank for your complete video, do you know the specific frontal pouch that you put in the AMP 24 ? If you have the link ? Thanks for your help.
Here you go... www.511tactical.com/admin-gear-set.html See ya ✌🏾
@@GeorgeDEFINED ohhh Thanks you very much ¡¡¡¡
Only thing this review is missing is a direct comparison with the 5.11 Tactical Rush.
The Rush is better! but your right.. See ya
Great review, really honest and detailed.
Thanks for watching Mike..
Excellent, detailed review George!
Hey Erik, Thanks for watching my videos. This one had a lot pockets. lol See ya.
Very nice review, unlike the other RUclips ball licker affiliates. Thank you for the honest review. Still buying one but think it might be a bit too big for my edc.
Appreciate it man! I try to be honest.. Your right man, it may big for EDC! The make a 12 I believe. See ya ✌🏾
See ya
Four fingers, one thumb.☺
Really great review!
Great review. Just got one of these today.
Let me know after a couple weeks how you like it.
@@GeorgeDEFINED Will buy the Admin gear pack this week. I have the Rush 12 and 24 as well. I got this one as it kinda looks cool.
Once again I loved the review.
Mister George; what you like the most for EDC? AMP 12 or 24.
Amp 24
Nice, honest review. Subbed.
Thanks David.. See ya ✌🏾
Just got mine in the mail today. I’m still fidgeting with it. As for first impressions is concerned, it’s a pretty cool pack. I will be ordering an AMP plate carrier as win the near future along with a couple different gear sets.
Still concerned?
Hi its great review
I got one AMP 24. I got MSI 15.6 inch and which is tightly fit in the laptop/ bladder compartment. I live in south east asia. so I am worrying about the water resistance of laptop bladder compartment. I can't use additional sleeve as in my previous backpack. what's your experience and opinion of putting laptop without additional cover in 5.11 laptop compartments. thanks
This bag is water resistant! Not waterproof! I wouldn't count this pack in a down pour. Just my 2 cents See ya...
Good review. I used to be maxpedition and 511 backpack only, till I discovered Vanquest. Check out there packs when you get a chance.
Hey Chris, I'm going out their website now. Thanks for the comment. See ya
I have the amp72, and I ended up removing the plastic stiffener and the aluminum hoop. It’s so much more comfortable! The bag actually conforms to your back.
A lot of people have told me that.. 🤔
I love your videos brother! Keep up the momentum!
Yo George ! Wassup bro great review ! I heard you can take out the back panel to cut the weight. Perhaps that can also fix the back issue.keep up the good work bro.
Hey CrimDellaRem 605, I don't see that on that on the pack?? If you can that should cut alot of wieght. Thanks for the comment. See ya
@@GeorgeDEFINED if u open the back part theres a velcro. There u can pull out the back panel
I feel the back panel made me stand up straighter
Hey Pete, Think you may be right. Thanks for the comment. See ya
Yeah, actually, with a hip belt (which I cannibalized from another bag) the back support distributes almost all the weight on the hips, which is the way it should be. Personally, I think it's a positive rather than a negative.
Thanks buddy 🙏🏾
Have you checked out the LV10 yet? I sold my moab 6, and my moab 10. The LV 10 is a winner! Is that a leatherman juice I gave mine to one of my kids and now want it back lol.
Hey Pollock56th, I might have something coming on the LV10 :-) Yes is a Leatherman juice that is my go to multi-tool. See ya
@@GeorgeDEFINED I just picked up the amp10 for range/ camping bag
I’ve got a north face backpack currently and it has a similarly designed water bottle pouch so i can’t put in both my bottle and books at the same time
I like the Vanquest water bottle holder..
Thanks for reviewing this george! Asked for it a couple of times
like the review, what do you think about using it as a travel bag for around 2 weeks? Im a minimal kinda guy so dont need a lot of space but the AMP72 might be a better option?
Hey Bartsons, Thanks for the review suggestion! See ya PEACE
Hey Bartsons, I think that this would be pack maybe a little tight for two weeks of travel. Are you minmalist?
I cannot find the gear sets anywhere!
I don't understand why you can't see your stuff beneath the NET.. I can even identify those just watching this vid..
But good advise to have it all zippered that's another plus..
I wish there was better access to that organizer.
very good review indeed
You actually can take the female buckles off. There are a slit in the buckle under the "gripper".
Hey dude try a 3 days Mystery Ranch Pack. A serious backpack...
Thanks for the suggestion!!
Also man the female Buckles can come off for when you have a gear set, 5.11 plans a lot out
Yep.. I found out after I did the review... Thanks for the correction.. See ya
looking for a replacement for my $20 wish backpack thats falling apart. this might be the one
Nice upgrade! This is a good pack.. See ya
I take it the dents in the laptop were there before it went into the bag?
Hey LastStarfighter, Dents in expensive electronics come with kids..lol See ya
George DEFINED ah good. Seriously considering this pack as a possible alternative to my Rush 24 for one bag travel. Thanks for the review! One thing I always find 5.11 packs do is carry a heavy load as comfortably as possible.
Where are you located? that’s a nice area.
Hey Shuvalea, I am located in the JUST ALRIGHT state of Maryland! lol Southern Maryland. Thanks for the comment. See ya
Yes, I regret to bought this AMP 24. The back panel and shoulder straps are just so uncomfortable. Its too hard that make the shoulder tired quickly. I am consider switching to Vertx Checkpoint.
Good info and presentation but the music is distracting.
Okay thanks for the feedback 👍
HI George, does teh 5.11 AMP 24 backpack fit a 17" laptop? or it can only hold a 15" laptop?
Hey LGT Baymax, I don't have a 17" laptop so I can't say for sure. Sorry man See ya
Bruh it's 19 inches long what you think
dude can you review a maxpedtion riftblade.
Hey Awel, Thanks for suggestion!! I'm going to check it out. See ya PEACE!
Did you try removing the panel insert inside the back panel? Speaking in terms of mitigating comfort...
I didn't Cal, but that's a good idea.. See ya
@@GeorgeDEFINED For sure brother, I was only asking because I have the M4 LV 20L rifle bag for one of my AR's...the cushioning is different so comfort isn't a question but removing the panel in some cases does help with that contour some may want...dope videos though.
$119 on Black Friday sale 2020
Agreed
Hay Marvin, Thanks for the comment. See ya PEACE
If the back panel is too hard on your back, just slide it out bro.
hi fellow EDC enthusiast. hope you can help me with my dilemma... i am really interested in getting an EDC covert tactical bag. i am now using a TNF surge bag for my EDC (school/gym).
i am looking to getting either maxpedition riftcore or the 5.11 amp24 (tho im leaning more towards the riftcore), i like them coz of the clam shell opening (i havent tried a bag with a clam shell opening but i think they would be much easy to organize and access things in and out) and the modularity option for both bags.
**** and also what can i do to cover the grommet holes at the bottom of the maxpedition riftcore, i dont see me having any use for it, and moisture and dirt (as ill be again using tje bag for hiking) might actually sip in the grommet hole ****
thanks for reading my long post... hope you can give me a good advise as i really like the compartmentalization of these great bags (self confessed O.C. 😊😊😊)
thanks again a lot mate.
No
Why not make the whole bag hex?
Hey BananaBandit, I think the gear set is enough for me. You could add some in the inside tho... See ya ✌🏾
what is the music? please!
You got it wrong the back panel is super comfortable. I just went out hiking for few hours and didn't notice anything with it. I think you are lacking.
okay
Yo dude, thanx to sexy backpack
Thanks for watching.. See ya
Vape juice. Rofl. Didn’t see that coming.
