Hi, does Asian like water? One of mine planted in the lower area, where it holds a lot of water when raining 😮

Such an inspiration! Do Hosui blooms overlap with Chojuro's?

Yes, Chojuro are much slower, but the window still works as pollinating partner.

Your pear varieties look very healthy. I have a kieffer pear and I am dealing with fire blight. I’m looking for a replacement pear and I heard Asian pears are disease resistant.

no, they are not. Some varieties like the Shinko are more resistant to blight, but they will get diseases just like your Kieffer

I read somewhere that grafts from different types like pears onto apples, would fail. Interesting that yours seem to be doing very well. Have you had any asian pear grafts fail on an apple tree? Thanks for your time and sharing your experience

Failed by not doing grafts correctly, yes. As for the ones that took, they are still alive after 2 years. I did it both ways, apple onto pear and pear onto apples. I'm still waiting for these to die, but so far, they are still going strong.

@KhangStarr thanks for the reply. Will be interesting to see updates as the years pass. Very interesting. I just grafted 2 asian pear varieties to crab apple rootstock just to see if it will take

Enjoy all your videos! I'm planning to get a Hosui and Korean giant. Do you think they will pollinate well? Based on your latest videos, it seems the Korean giant might pollinate better with Shinseiki due to their closer flower window. Thanks

@@candiethai6877 Yes, they will make good pollinating partners.

Hey Khang Starr, I finally got a promising start to growing the KSLS you sent me on the Chinese New Years. How do I know when to harvest seeds from a pod. I appreciate everything you do for the community and what you have done for me. The prior season I was getting winter frost up into July. I want to grow one all year long indoors if possible. I watched your videos doing so. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

You can harvest seeds when the pods turn bright yellow.
