  • How do you value stocks? Finance textbooks argue that you should look at their dividends. But many stocks don’t pay dividends, and even if they do, it’s hard to forecast what they’ll be in the future. And newspapers talk about a stock’s 'price-to-earnings' ratio which seems nothing to do with dividends.
This lecture will explore the essentials of stock valuation, explain what causes stocks to rise and fall so wildly, and demystify the jargon used by finance practitioners.
    A lecture by Alex Edmans

As someone with a finance degree I wish I had finance professors this talented at teaching! I've spent a lot of time performing security analysis in the years since I graduated college but even then I learned something here. Thanks!!

excellent series, everyone needs to watch these videos to get at least a framework and a mindset about what money/value is and how its being used and traded in the world today. that way people can avoid many basic misunderstandings and biases and traps and scams and better protect themselves financially and to better earn and better invest and enjoy a financially secured and fulfilling life.

How do you value a stock? Pull some numbers out of thin air, for how much it's supposedly going to grow. Ok. No wonder asset markets are so prone to bubbles and crashes.

Please put this guy on GULAG for being so patronizing and capitalist religious.

Diverse workforce argument is very weird coming from a professor as it a virtue signalling move rather than based on any key metrics that actively shows a diverse workforce really contributes more to a company, but then again I am willing to look past a shameless plug considering most of this is valid points excluding some general ramblings from certain liberal professors

      LOL.
WITHOUT diverse workforce how can you easily trigger pre-season brained REACTIONARIES to prevent class consciousness that would ultimately ABOLISH the CAPITALIST.
