Does anyone else get the feeling that whenever mercy is close to Genji, he gets flustered. He sounds like one of those high schoolers who wants to ask out their crush but is too scared too.
Yeah. Especially when he says "Not Swiss" like he is embarrassed that his chocolates aren't swiss.
Even when he says Angela, he sounds kinda unsure of himself.

I love when people bring up the Hippocratic Oath (Doctor/patient) argument, and then ship Mercy with someone else like Pharah or Moira as if the Hippocratic Oath doesn't apply with them as well. LOL
I mean... Still would pass as friendly joking flirt if needed - I know I had those with friend - but yeah, those two are definitely into each other.
Or maybe they share a deep connection and love 🥰 Maybe Mercy was in love with someone else (roadhog) pretty sad

I saw an article that apparently for a Valentines Day event you can romance either Mercy or Genji and if you do, Hanzo in a Cupid skin will literally appear next to them. I’m not sure how true this is or if it’s exclusive to those two together or if it’s something you can do with every character with either or. But maybe we might be in luck

Yeah same, it annoys me that people hate on Mercy/Angela just because of this one interaction. She’s just playing with him and actually doesn’t mind if he gives her different chocolate than the one she prefers. Mercy does appreciate the things Genji gives her and doesn’t act ungrateful for it
I swear everytime i hear Genji being less grumpy and more optimistic or willing to joke, it makes me smile. Especially when he talks to Mercy or Tracer.

One time, I was defending payload by myself because my team had died except for one. Pretty soon they focused the last person and it was just me (mercy main). All you could hear was Genji ult, fly in, and 1v4 the enemy team. I don’t know how genji mains do it. But I’m pretty sure we shared a moment. 😂

I find this ship incredibly wholesome and adorable. Genji and Mercy really do respect and care for each other as shown in their interactions and even in the storm rising cutscene. He is thankful for Mercy saving his life when she discovered him on the verge of death and wants to repay her in some way. Though she doesn’t want any anything in return, but is just happy that he’s healthy and alive. I’m glad Blizzard is noticing this and shipping those two 😭🥰
Boss, They particularly are the only ones at all within the cast to have Valentine's day, White day and Tanzaku festival voicelines.
All 3 of these days hold high importance in Asian culture with how relationships work. Tanzaku festival is pretty much exclusively celebrated by couples.
Genji and Mercy are pretty much canon.

This video is my comfort video. I still think gency is definitely happening, I think the head writer would be fired if they tried to retcon over five years worth of lore in a game that you can’t really “unpublish”, especially since in the loverwatch event it’s implied you’re playing as genji, and for genji you’re playing from the perspective of mercy. They make nods to long standing community jokes about genji and dinosaur chicken nuggets (if you know you know lmao), and you tolerating her coffee (which only genji can, supposedly so ya know). I think that the cutscene where they asked why they ever stopped writing each other which many labeled an “argument” between them, was probably because ya know, any overwatch activity was considered *highly fucking illegal*, which would include writing each other. They both probably got warned by some government agency that was watching their movements to stop. Besides, genji’s character doesn’t lend itself well to a person who would un ironically say that a friend or lovers artwork is horrible, or even suggest that they themselves are a horrible friend or a liar outside of a joke. This is the same man who says “my greatest enemy, defeated” when he kills another genji like he’s overcome an obstacle he previously thought insurmountable. And mercy sounds so wistful, like she wishes they had never even stopped writing in the first place. They have that conversation with such comfort and ease. There’s no hint of resentment towards each other in their tones, it just sounds like they’re wearing a smile on their faces as they talk.
I don’t know. I just wish they’d come out and confirm it already, and I don’t at all like the pharah mercy scheme they seem to be hinting at. It’s a forced ship that just doesn’t work whichever way you spin it. And I think if they did force pharmercy, it might actually get the game cancelled cuz it kinda pushes the narrative that queer people are groomers and that just… isn’t what anyone needs at the moment. Like in the lore, Angela is 19 and pharah is 12 when they’re first meeting each other. Mercy is working alongside pharah’s mother as a *coworker* at that time.
I just wish they had kept the old writer.

Something i like about their dinamic it's that Genji it's one of (if not the only one) that calls Mercy "Angela" when almost everyone else calls her Dr Zeigler also their voice actors totally support the idea of Genji and Mercy being together

I didn't know this was a ship until just now (12:30, November 12, 2022) and I didn't know I even needed this ship in my life. Sadly, I never played OW1 and have only played OW2 so I was really confused by the voice lines existing because I've never heard them before.
But, as a Mercy main, I highly approve 👍

People who dislike the Gency ship tend to point toward a possible Florence Nightingale effect-type influence causing Angela's allegedly predatory attraction to her 'patient,' Genji. I firmly do not believe Angela saving Genji's life to be the root cause of their mutually romantic affection. Far more likely, their still-growing attraction toward one another developed directly from their years spent together serving side-by-side in Overwatch.
Plus, it took quite for Genji to get used to and accept his cyborg body. I think it was implied that he despised Mercy and Overwatch for saving him while he was in Blackwatch, he barely spoke to anyone and kept himself in isolation. After Blackwatch was disbanded, Genji worked more with the other Overwatch heroes, and I believe that's where he finally started to open up and start a relationship with the others, especially with Tracer, Winston, and Mercy.
@@itsmilkie456 I also like to think that Zenyatta played a big part in Genji opening up to Angela and appreciating what she and Overwatch did.
Not to mention that they were presumably separated for sometime while Genji was in Blackwatch until it was sidelined and joined Overwatch proper. So at that point, the patient-doctor aspect would be long over since Moira would be his doctor for a while. He probably only started being basically Mercys lab assistant/listener because she is so different to everything he has ever know about life, you know, death... He probably loves hearing someone who appreciates life that they study and practice to save it, when all he knew was about ending them. I like think that's why he has so much appreciation and dare I say love for her :>

All the new writers are LGBT+, anytime they are asked about Gency, the people on twitter get blocked, there's numerous threads highlighting all of this and the writers in particular interact with a Pharah-fan account and openly consider her when they write Pharah content. It is also NO SURPRISE that they suddenly FORCED numerous Pharah-Mercy voicelines out of no where and after 8 months, there are 0 spawn interactions for Genji-Mercy. :)

They're actually consulting with a Pharah fan (and possible Pharmercy stan) for story ideas? Seriously? Are they that bankrupt?
I'd like to see the threads that highlight all of this. Can you link it to me or if you can't point me in the right direction to find such information? Because to actually have that sort of evidence would be very beneficial.
The fact that the new writers (The fact that they're LGBT and they're doing this doesn't surprise me) are retconning 6+ years of Genji and Angela's relationship just to pander to Pharmercy and wave the LGBT flag for brownie points is just spineless. Even worse is when they do it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Blizzard get's themselves in yet ANOTHER massive controversy.

They wont, the new writer hates Gency and deleted almost 90% of their lore together including their in game voice lines. He/They added flirting voice lines between pharah and mercy and between hanzo and cassidy/mccree. The new writer on twitter before they got the job at blizzard used to share lots of pharah x mercy fanarts and pretty sure he also wrote a fanfic of them. They also changed pharah's age from 30 to 35 to almost match mercy's even tho there is a cannon photo of mercy next to ana holding new born pharah. Gency will never happened again unless there will be a new writer who will finally fix the lore and bring back old cannon ships.

You can tell how much they cared about overwatch 1 compared to its sequel. Making these little interactions made the game feel so much more alive.

Not sure how many of you remember, but the Gency ship first set sail in the first year Overwatch came out. Christmas that year, the comic 'Reflections' came out and on one page you see Genji writing a letter, and on the next page, you see Angela reading a letter, blushing.
After this, someone made a comic that went into great detail on what might have been going on. Then some VAs dubbed it and put it on RUclips. It's called 'Letters' and if you somehow haven't already listened to it, I highly recommend it. 💚💛

This makes me so sad we lost all of the pregame interactions in OW2, aswell as during game interaction. We have lost all of them to pander pharmercy, even with so much buildup!
I hope the pandering doesn't go into the story they want to tell in the storymode, because they've hinted at gency interactions being in the storymode.
They had so many voicelines and interactions hinting and basically confirming a romantic relationship but it's been sidelined for pharmercy shippers begging it to be real. This whole video is evidence that there was atleast something but it doesn't matter anymore apparently.

They do actually have some voice lines, but they seem so cold and emotionless than compared to the OW1 lines. IDK what happened between them, but I hope they'll at least try to explain it, instead of just a abandoning their relationship for whatever reason..
