- I'm planning a HUGE 30th birthday party. Planning a party this big can be expensive but with a bit of planning, it can still be a lot of fun! In this video, I've decided on my theme -- it's Great Gatsby Roaring Twenties -- and I'm picking the venue, choosing my menu and starting to work on entertainment, my decor, and my outfits.

My mom did this for her 40th complete with dance performances by ‘flappers’ (great gatsby had come out that year so we had like 3 flapper inspired performances to the music from the album) it was so fun and the pictures came out AMAZING

Hi Raven, I love your page. I have been following you for some time, now. I understand that you need a Jazz Band that plays modern style music. May I make a suggestion? I understand that UTA has a Jazz Department on campus. You might want to look there for Jazz musicians or go to the main office of the Jazz Department and ask them to make referrals of students,(the students or either already playing with a band or can put a jazz band together for you), or you could make a flyer requesting an audition of some Jazz bands. ON the flyer, you should leave your request or what you are auditioning the Bands for, your contact information and other information regarding the party. As for the price of payment for the band, it is probably easier to ask a musician on the scene, there in Austin for the average payment of a Band for the evening. I know that this is unsolicited advice but I hope that you will find it helpful.

Run black and white movies on the TVs like your Mom suggested - there are some with African American casts.
There’s a company called After the Tone … they have an emphasis on weddings buts it’s a company that gives you a vintage looking telephone and let’s all guest leave messages on the telephone and I believe you even get to keep the phone ( would make sense lol)

I'm going to say something controversial. Raven, it is sooo awesome seeing how you have built such an amazing life and how you handle your business like such a true boss!! You are a great leader, you are thoughtful, and you are decisive. You and your Mom do such an amazing job managing your roles as businesspeople. With that being said, for some reason, it's a struggle for me watching a daughter tell her mom what to do sometimes (that's my own personal problem), however you are not doing anything wrong at all because you are doing exactly what you are supposed to do as a business leader running a company. That brings me to think I think it would be an interesting video to discuss how you manage your dynamics as mother-daughter vs business people to be able to switch into those modes without taking it personally. You guys do such an amazing job of managing your dynamics. hope you don't take this personally as it's not personal at all it's a true compliment

when I when to wedding where they send our inventions with a meal list we had to check what we would eat like Chicken , fish, or something vegan it so made easy on they meal choices so maybe you can do that for the App reties just thought and I hope you the best 30's party I know my day when it came for me .

I'm EXCITED about your party. I hired a band for one of my birthday parties, and I gave them cd's (yes cd's) with tons of my music that I wanted them to play and they did just that. It was AMAZING.
