“Diplomacy is war by other means.”
“Meaninglessness would come as a terrible blow to most people. It would be full of significance for them. So it wouldn’t be meaningless.”
“The intellect can share its wealth without diminution.”
“Sometimes I feel like we’ve just been living on hints. Seeing the world through a keyhole.”
“Changing his life meant changing himself.”
“I think most people feel a difference between their real lives and the lives they have in the world. But they ignore their souls, or hide them, so they can keep things together, keep an ordinary life together.”
“..the near-nothing that was at stake. His pride!”
“..when the cherished thought withers in the light of the slightest attention.”
“..take any chance to do a kindness. There’s no telling what might come of it.”
“So you never know what effect you might have had.”
    “Miracles leave no trace.”
“A married man! A higher order of liveliness altogether!”
“And then they embraced..as if they solved loneliness.”

I assume you know that the phrase Continental Europe was the antidote to false expressions like 'England and Europe'.
