This is mezcal dorks
It’s not mezcal either. That name is reserved for a certain amount of states in Mexico.

What is the brand name of the agave they distill?
The "species" they distill is the blue webber agave. The same used in Tequila. I am interested to see if they begin to plant other species that will grow in California as well, like Salmiana.
The outside leaves on the agave will make you inch
Fake stuff
how is it fake? It's the same species of plant, made the same traditional way. They just can't sell it by its regional name since it was cultivated outside the region and country it is licensed through. Same goes with wine and any other regional spirit. That's why they are forced to call it agave spirit.
