That line always cracks me up. I'm a strait man and my best friend is a gay man. He always says things like that about strait people. "It's what they read" ,etc. It's funny. I tease him about "his kind" and he teases me about "your people" and it's all good natured humour. 🤣
When I was still in the Marines, I was playing this movie on my TV when my roommate walked in and was excited because he loved it as well. I asked him, "you want to watch it, drink some beers?" He agreed and we were quoting it and imitating the screaming while laughing our asses off that entire evening
I feel so bad for Albert. He's the kindest guy in the whole film. He literally cares about everyone. Even the senator and he's excluded for his mom. Poor guy
The last part of this scene makes me sad. I can't imagine having to leave your own house because someone doesn't think who you are is acceptable. Bravo, Nathan Lane!
Not only that but that's his husband of what like 30 years and his son who he raised didn't want him there. Think as a parent all the boo-boos all the big moments the love he gave the sacrifices to be his loving parent. Vals mom took money and ran and he accepted him as his baby. You might as well ripped out his heart and gave it a blender it would have hurt less.
Yes but sadly enough it happens. Folks break up and one comes out of it with "Nothing". Also Val was supposed to be the way he was yet he realized how fortunate he was. He had two loving parents he even admitted he was the only person in his Fraternity that didn't come from a Broken Home.
God, I love Nathan Lane's shriek at 2:01, too funny. I'd probably freak out like that, too, whom can blame him? I love this movie, though, absolutely one of the best actor pairings yet.
I wish Nathan Lane would get the Oscar for this role. It was his peak! He performed mom's behaviour so truly ( ensemble of the socks, viewing the family album... etc. ). Perfect performance!!! I love this movie, it is not just crazy comedy, it is touching illustration of a bit different family life. Usualy don't like the U.S. remake of European films, but I have to say honestly, this film knocked over the original!
This movie's funny cuz nobody played their real ages. Nathan played 50 being 39, Robin played 50 being 42, Calista played 18 being 32 and Dan was 29 and played 20.
Just about the only time I DIDN'T laugh during this movie is the end of this scene. I felt SO bad for Albert. He raised Val along with Armand and treated him like his own son and loved him. Then he's basically told he's not welcome. To make matters worse, he has to find out Val's birth mother who had no part in his life will be there instead.
Kind of what my sister in law did to my mom. My sister in law barley spoke to her mom. She wasn't even at her wedding, but when it came to Christmas gifts or visits her mom would take priority over my mom. It hurt her a lot because all my mom wanted to be close to her and her kids and she would push us away. Sad.
Val was a total bitch the entire movie.while everyone was total secure about itself he looked so scared of everyone.even from the mother of his beyonce.loved the way armands tells who he is and how much took him to face it. Best scene ever
@@KasbashPlays Val was raised with drag queens, never knowing his real mother, living with two gay parents and a gay housekeeper. His whole life was over the top and he took it all in stride. Armand and Albert adored him and were proud of him and there's no indication he wasn't a loving kid growing up. He fell in love with a girl who was sweet and accepting of his family so he wasn't homophobic or mean but her family was a problem. I think we need to cut Val some slack.
Hey! Listen, that's a shame, that is his home, never disregard a ❤ , what treasures get plundered and regards, I'm proud of people, ALLLLLLLLLLL PEOPLE I LOVE YOU
I’m kinda surprised one they didn’t tell Albert the real reason for the changes, cuz of Barbara’s parents. Or Armand could’ve said to Albert something like ‘I forgot to tell you I’m having some wrk done we can’t go back till it’s done’. But yea the way they handled it was so hurtful
Nathan Lane’s emotional range is absolutely amazing. One minute gut-splitting hysterical, the next moment poignant, even tragic. I would even say his character, Albert, is the most tragic and most sincere, authentic, unpretentious figure in the ensemble because of the work that he had to do to conform to other people’s standards.
Ppl prob know this but I'm gonna throw it out there. The roles originally were to be reversed where Nathan was Robin & Robin was Nathan but Robin didn't wanna do female drag since Mrs. Doubtfire so he chose his role & Nathan chose the drag & the rest is classic history. Good decision guys. What I could never get is Nathan was as a female in their shows so why think he couldn't play Val's mama? But it's still classic. I luv this movie
2.00 that's how Billy in predator was suppose to scream. Also it's when I wake up sober after the bit of stuff I brought home night befire. Miss you Robin Williams ❤️💔😢
2:00 - 2:04 oh no no no!!!!! *screams* We've been robbed! Me: *chuckles* what! This is the funniest part of the movie. Reminds Me of Sing 2 Thanks Andreas Basler
Classic comedy device in film - the two leave the landing at the front door and the camera remains in place to catch Al's screaming reaction from inside.
The fact the son is making his parents do all this is beyond despicable. "this was a different time," doesn't work. I am gay and I grew up in the 80's. It was despicable back then too.
My God, I would have loved the Fellows Decorate My Home. I loved how they ran out, they knew the mess was gong to hit the fan. When Nathan Lane screamed folks in the Cinema laughed.
This movie is funny. Have never been in this situation but if you have to hide who you are then perhaps you need to look at why you do all this. What do you think it’s going to solve? I used to not think like this but I am learning that in life you or others may have skeletons in their closets. And there comes a time to reflect on the situation and try to learn how to deal with the reality. It’s uncomfortable and unpredictable. But it needs to be faced.

Nathan Lane's screams are the best part of this whole film.
He has a great scream as the cat Snowbell in Stewart Little. 🙀
Nathan Lane is pure gold in this movie.
my friend Alex screams exactly like that

“That went well.” And that look on his face as he delivers that line-priceless. RIP Robin Williams.
Surprised you can see any reactions, since this was clearly uploaded in 120p
The older I get, the more reasonable and less overwrought Albert's reaction seems. Amazing what a little knowledge of context does for this film.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH! We've been robbed!"

It really helps that Lane is gay, so he can really emote the pain of it all in this scene.

Aw, this clip makes me want to give Albert a huge hug! Poor thing!

The irony of Albert accusing Armand of overreacting and being hysterical.
5 seconds after he says "You're overreacting" he screams like a girl at the sight of his stuff missing- LOL!
The Genie and Timon.
Exactly!
Nathan Lane was brilliant in this movie..He stole the show from Robin Williams and that's hard to do.
Only because Robin always stole other people's jokes and materials. Lol
These two had the best comic chemistry i can't stop laughing at this even years later
Robin gave a great, subtle performance!
