Just a heads up that 4k is processing as uploading in 4k 60Fps can take its time, and I have infact received a £20 Refund for what was a £30 card, so these things will cost you around £10....Which isn't half bad.
Found this on my local ebay www.ebay.de/itm/fur-Nvidia-Geforce-1GB-GTX750-Ti-DDR5-192Bit-PCI-Express-Videokarten-Lufter/382376514912?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D49132%26meid%3Dfc3529ef37424a7f850f4745d5853cd1%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D173151983604%26itm%3D382376514912&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 It seems like it's the same. It says Replacement for GTX 750ti and in the description it says Chipset GPU: GTX 750TI but also something like second development of GTX550ti how are my chances to get a refund?
Here's a video idea: Since this "750Ti" comes with a reflashed BIOS, it probably has driver compatibility issues. It would be interesting to see how it performs against a legit 550Ti.
Awww, thanks for the mention :D I'm surprised this thing can do 4K. All my gear is 1080p, so this is something I cannot test, so cheers for looking into that.
Yea they are well worth it. You never know when you need it, BIOS flashing can fail, so this is a good way to flash it even if the card doesn't display anything.
I actually decided to buy one of these scam cards. The one I bought was claiming to be a MSI GTX 1080 Ti for around $60 USD. I bought it, knowing I could just get my money back with eBay. Anyway, it took a few weeks to get here (as most do), and when it finally arrived, it was actually what was shown in the stock eBay photos. It wasn't brand new at all, It was pretty beat-up and it was simply bubble wrapped. At this point it was probably just a "shell swap" of an older card or something right? Well, I tested it out in my i7-4790 rig just to see. Got drivers, which surprisingly installed, and then went to go check GPU-Z... It was actually a legitimate card! I don't even get it! I probably checked the stats like 80 times in disbelieve. However, the card was in pretty terrible condition honestly. Both of the fans weren't working probably, it was covered in dust the plastic was cracked, and the back panel was just completely gone for some reason. The NVIDIA display driver also frequently crashed upon switching resolution for some odd reason. I guess it goes to show it is possible to get a legitimate card, if you are extremely lucky, just don't expect it to be in good condition. This one was probably used for bitcoin mining or something, and since the fans stopped working, the card could no longer be cooled and overheated, so it was sold as brand new to try to get some profit I guess.
Nope, not all of them. I have a "GTX 750Ti" and a "GTX960" that are both actually a GTS 450. And a "Asus" "GTX770" that I'm not actually sure of what it is, but since it doesn't work with official drivers past the 400-series cutoff (where nvidia removed support from pre-400-series cards from their driver packs), I suspect it might actually be as ancient as a 9800GTX/GTS250, although the remains of what was printed on the Die (printing came off with the thermal chewing gum they used) lead me to a 9800M GT notebook GPU (!?!)
I didn't. Bought them on purpose as curiosities, in some cases from other people who got scammed and tried to re-scam by selling them as "lightly used, don't need it" on ebay again with the same fake model numbers etc., just with the slight advantage of being local (so no month worth of waiting on shipping) and usually a bit cheaper. Oldest fake card I have is a Geforce "GT(S)240" which is actually a pathetic Geforce 7300GS :D
Its actually quite surprising how many games you can play at 4k with a modest card. I played almost every game I had at 4k when I had a 970, though obviously new AAA titles were out of reach...
I somehow became addicted to the way you clean those things, i feel relaxed somehow.- Sorry you got scammed, dude, that sucks. Really like your channel
Terraria is a great game, but all the weapons enemies and bosses get a lot more demanding closer to the end of the game and what I've found with my PC is that in a frame rate that started off in the high fifties in the early game ends up in the low twenties at the low twenties closer to the end.
It's surprising how (relatively) demanding it is tbh, I remember the integrated on the motherboard for my old FX-6300 was a 15fps slideshow at 800x600 on minimum settings even when it could do age of empires III fine at 1280x1024
Any decent graphics card will get you by in Terraria. It can be quite demanding, but you should place the blame on your processor. If my Q45 can handle that game, anything can, and throwing an R9 280 in there really didn't help much on my Pentium.
yup ^. i have a spare computer with an a8 5700 and added a 650ti and maxed out the game with 1080p. can also run fortnite 1080p medium with 60-80fps avg.
What the F***?? People are running GTA 5 in high settings just by wasting $35? And I can't even run it properly in my $1000+ laptop. EDIT: I'm talking about Dell 5559, i5 6th gen, AMD R5 graphics, 8 GB ram. Not too good, right? Yeah, but in my country computers and its components are 3x of what they cost in US.
Lol, $1000 should be getting a GTX 1060 mobile. I was recently looking at a super high end laptops (full blown Ryzen 1700 desktop chip, yes, real socket so you can put 1800x or whatever you want) with RX 580m for $1500. At that price you can get 1070 mobile chips with 120 Hz Gsync screens. Obviously the 1070 would be better for gaming, but I was looking at it for mobile workstation use. Decided I could live without it though. Or he's comparing it to old prices, like my i5 2520m with HD3000 potato TM graphics ($1200 in 2012, but I got it for $150 refurbished on Newegg). So I call it a $150 max laptop, and really I bought that a while ago, so its not even worth that (except I've upgraded RAM and SSD, so maybe $200 price).
There's a new Ryzen AMD chip that's shipping with Intel Processors that's meant to be around the performance of a 1050/1060 and laptops with those will be coming out starting in spring, so well I can't vouch for previous laptops though my 2014 HP Laptop with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M can run GTA, not on the best settings of course but playable. Don't know much about fake GPUs but well I don't see why you should have any issues (suggesting your specs are good on your laptop, which for $1000+ which was the price range of mine, it should be if you're bumping down the settings).
The problem with the scam cards, even when you know it's a scam card, when everything identifies a 550Ti 1GB as a 750Ti, the latter is expected to have 2GB of GDDR5... but it really only has 1GB... so some games will try and use 2GB on the "750Ti" and when it goes over the 1GB the card actually has, you can have weird issues and/or crashes.
its easy to spot scam cards on ebay. the way the card looks is nothing like any other manufacturer made it/would make it out to seem. EVGA, etc put some type of logo showing who the card is made by. on scam cards, the most you'll get is 2 nvidia stickers on fans.
I have 550Ti 1GB. It works very good. I tested Armored Warfare, World Of Tanks ,CS GO and Crossout. I used medium settings in all games and i have decent rezults. 50 FPS Average in AW 45 in WOT, 70+ In CS GO and 40-45 in Crossout. I used 1080p rezolution
Interesting video! :) Not that I would recommend buying a scam GPU... Anyway, will it run F1 2015 at more than 15-25FPS at 800x600 low mode? (Currently what I get on Intel's HD4400 iGPU.)
Man the Sega GT2k2 music is really triggering. Here we have a publisher who claims that PC is their most profitable platform, but release most of their titles only for consoles.
I have one of these sat in my cupboard, along with a dead 6870 and two dead 7970s I should do something with... I got my money back for the scam card though.

what do you record your games on? i have an i5, 8gb ram and intel 530 integrated graphics and obs and other programs refuse to record it. anyways great vid regardless.
You could've actually used frame scaling within GTA (in the advanced graphics settings). Would've been interesting to see the game running internally in 0.5x mode on 720p (half of 1280x720, so 640x360) scaled up to 4k .... would've been absolutely pointless³², but it might actually run kinda sorta okay...ish :D PS: in most cases you can use official nvidia drivers for these fake cards, as long as the version you're trying to use supports the actual GPU being used on the card (550Ti in this case, not what it's trying to fake with the modified card BIOS). Only the older scam cards based on pre 400 series GPUs needed the modified ancient drivers that usually came with the card (since nvidia dropped support for anything pre 400 series ages ago)
Can the Scam GPU beat the real GTX750Ti in at least one game? Here's one game that it might have a fighting chance at. Recently, I reached into my shelf, and got Prey from there, a game that came out in 2006 and runs on the same engine as Doom 3. I used to play it on... well on a variety of cards back in the day, but it did perform pretty well on GTX295, very smooth performance. Upon trying it on my GTX750TI, which for the most part performs significantly faster than the GTX295, I was surprised that the performance wasn't all that. I mean it would usually be 60, but dip into 20ies occasionally like when looking into an area with many overlapping shadows or into a light source. I don't know what's up with that for certain, after all my GPU should have not only oodles more computational throughput than was available back in the day, but even twice as much VRAM throughput as was possible back when the game came out, although i'm clearly not reaching the memory throughput of GTX295. More likely is that there's actually something weird going on and what many games would consider an optimisation in drivers and hardware ends up pessimising the game on this modern Maxwell GPU, which has changed the deferred tiling implementation for the first time in a decade.
Is this one of those mysterious brand-less GPUs I see on EBay? Been needing a 16x PCIe card for an older AMD machine and keep bumping into these ones that will list them as 'brand-new' NVidia or Radeon boards but no other branding.
Just a heads up that 4k is processing as uploading in 4k 60Fps can take its time, and I have infact received a £20 Refund for what was a £30 card, so these things will cost you around £10....Which isn't half bad.

Slap some case fan on the GPU heatsink and it probably could run fine again
They can update the BIOS or something like that to add a different name to the GPU, so yeah it's prob not a 1080ti
that's on the better side of scams. Atleast you did not get an absolute potato like most scam graphics cards are, it's still a scam though.

You should get an GPU since Intels intergrated are pretty bad..
Why even bother trying it on 4k. You could just spared the 4k section. By the way great video as always!!!
I just ordered a 550ti off of CeX Australia, it’s gonna be better than my current ATI Radeon HD3450
KOTOR 1 Taris Cantina theme nice choice.
not sure how can someone afford a decent 4k Monitor but would think its a great idea to go with potato PC :D
Another Good Video As Normal.
Good Job!
You could've actually used frame scaling within GTA (in the advanced graphics settings). Would've been interesting to see the game running internally in 0.5x mode on 720p (half of 1280x720, so 640x360) scaled up to 4k .... would've been absolutely pointless³², but it might actually run kinda sorta okay...ish :D
PS: in most cases you can use official nvidia drivers for these fake cards, as long as the version you're trying to use supports the actual GPU being used on the card (550Ti in this case, not what it's trying to fake with the modified card BIOS).
This is a very good video good job👏
Idea: the budget server hosting computer.
Is this one of those mysterious brand-less GPUs I see on EBay? Been needing a 16x PCIe card for an older AMD machine and keep bumping into these ones that will list them as 'brand-new' NVidia or Radeon boards but no other branding.
At least it plays on 1080p, which is better than most in built GPUs.
A damn cloth soaked in alcohol takes up thermal paste very easily FYI.
Great video man 👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥 can you do a 2k modern gaming rig?
Gta looked like a literal slide show from my english class
Aaahhh...the GTA 5 game slideshow..😂😂😂
0:40 *It's ALIVE* !
gotta love those havit gaming keyboards
