    Loved that you could tell as a guitarist how she understood the absurd level of his technique by how intently she watched the video every time he started playing. Most people hear what he's playing, and really appreciate what they're hearing, but aren't absorbed by what's going on on the screen. She was listening, but also laser focused on what he was doing with his hands.

    If he was born in a different generation, he'd be a lead guitarist in a successful band, he has the improv and embellishment skills to become a touring legend, keeping it fresh is what differentiates a great touring artist and a good touring artist, especially in the rock world. I've always wished we'd see him in a proper band, because he is one of the few guitarists on RUclips who is actually as skilled as real guitar legends, not so much in his music theory and writing abilities, but particularly in his playing ability and ability to play off the cuff and improve upon other's work, all the great guitarists in major bands have that talent.

      @@sjmoorez Yeah, no idea what his comment is about.
      "If he was born in a different generation, he'd be a lead guitarist in a successful band" Doesn't even make sense. Dude could be in a successful band NOW, just seems like a personal choice he isn't.

    • @12sikrabfinah
      @12sikrabfinah Год назад

      You know, he can just go out and find people just to be in a band right? Especially NOW as we typing here. He has enough clout to make a band as well.

    • @ghostbravo7127
      @ghostbravo7127 Год назад

      @@12sikrabfinah Yes he can, but if you'd been born before the internet was widely accessible to the general public, you'd know that artists like him were more inclined to join bands and work with people as there was no massive online community, you had to go out to meet people and share your artistry and talent. Not only that, but those early decades were the golden era, so there was a lot more opportunity for lasting success and impact on the musical world. I'm not saying he couldn't do it now, but I'm saying he probably won't, certainly isn't as much of an incentive these days, and it wouldn't be the same either, you'd have to have been there and experienced it to understand that. It is a compliment, and maybe I am rambling while reminiscing, but it is nothing to get bothered over.

    Yah, his improvisational skill is absolutely a 10. Overall? Kinda hard, when the field contains so many literal rock-star-class musicians. Dude, Steve Vai is in there. Overall, is he a better musician than TheDooo? Unknown, clearly TheDooo is close. If folks like Vai are a 10 (and he kinda has to be), where's everyone else? I dunno about an overall 10 for TheDooo, but an extremely high fractional 9? Sure. 9.8, 9.9, all day long.

    • @frankiek2269
      @frankiek2269 Год назад +1

      It depends on the skills being graded. Technicality, Improvisation, and Innovation. Ex: Tina S is one of the best technical players (even TheDooo agrees), but she’s never made her own song to my knowledge. Roger Waters wrote classics, but he can’t play [doesn’t have the technical ability] some of the stuff other musicians, like Beck or Vai, can play. Then you have innovators like Tom Morello, which even as late as ‘92 developed a new way [kill switch technique] to play. I hate the “best” discussions because their is no clear line to what that is.

    • @BinkyTheToaster
      @BinkyTheToaster Год назад +1

      @@frankiek2269 Oh, completely agree. Like I said, it's _so hard_ to say, when everyone at that level is a literal rock star. I think that it's more like the Olympics, where it's possible for everyone to give a 10 performance, and who's "better" really depends on what day it is.
