I’ve owned the same JTV-59 since around 2018, and it’s the only guitar I gig with. The guitar modeling is incredible. I primarily use J-200, Strat and Les Paul. The virtual capo and alt tunings are awesome.
This video deserves a lot more views and likes. Thanks for not only playing so many of the options, but also choosing riffs and phrases that demo the guitar well instead of just showing off your skills. Genuinely appreciated! That ease of switching to a decent 12-string sound at 6:38 (well demo'd by your phrase choices) sold me on getting one. Yamaha/Line6, send this guy a thank you note!
best demo ive seen about the variax. I wanted to know if it had good acoustic sounds. I think it does the trick, Thanks a lot for the nice playing and sound quality
A friend bought one a few months back and let me try. I thought it would be gimmicky and some sounds I found not so good but as a tool for studio or live gigs it is interesting at least but what really got me onboard was the magnetic pickups, neck positition with a bit of dirt... That alone was worth the money. So much so that I have been hunting one for myself ever since!
2023 Yamaha bought Line 6 as of 8 /4/2023 they have stop making the Standard Veriax ! End of the road now what about parts electronics 10 years from now or next week . Full compass may have parts ?
Nice run through of the Variax, great examples of guitars/songs! Just curious how you chose the JTV-59? I've been waffling for the last couple years thinking of buying one. I think the 59 is the best looking of the bunch, but a 69 with trem seems like a good option too. My problem is no stores around my area carry these guitars which doesn't help in deciding. How would you describe the neck on the 59? Thanks!
Also, the headstock reminds me of the Brian May Special (a current fascination of mine), which I know this guitar is also capable of emulating. I can do without the tremolo, as time has shown.

Yes, it comes with about 8 or 10 pre-loaded, but you can also change the presets to different tunings if you want. I never use Open A, for example, so I replaced all the open tunings with various capo tunings

Thanks Ron, neck is thick, but I like thick necks. Think les paul neck.

which firmware? 1.9 or 2.0HD and newer? My guess is 1.9 , the last one without fake IRs.
What did you use to play this through. Was it a tube amp or direct into daw using software effects. Thanks

I have smaller hands. How thick is the neck? It is listed as a '59 style.
It's a little fatter than the average neck.
