Just a middle ground between the startup speed of LP shoryu and the damage and reach of HP shoryu. I usually use LP or HP, but MP works fine too. The only *specific* thing I know about it is: in the corner, after EX tatsu, MP shoryu > SA3. This gives you the non-cinematic version of the super and leaves you +26F right next to them, rather than +8F spaced out. I can imagine a situational use for this but it's very niche...
