Hi Matt, thank you so much for the tutorial but I'm still wondering if you could help us make the page turn in a more realistic way. I mean the curve, the page does blend itself when turning (just like what you did in the beginning of the video). Thank you once again!
Hi Matt, love your tutorials. Just a question about how can be apply the perspective effect on the pages, like when the pages are half open you can see that they look kinda bloated from the middle, the effect you did works well for hard covers. i hope i have been able to explain my question. thanks in advance.
+Matt Wilson Literally just finished making my book animation, and I'm so happy about it! Your words of encouragement and your very thorough video explanation made it possible! I often feel very intimidated by AE just because it's a program I rarely use, but I'm forcing myself to play with it more so that maybe I'll be as comfortable with it as I am with the other adobe programs! Keep doing what you're doing! (: -Nomi
I can relate to that, when I first started I was super scared of AE it's very daunting at first! If you keep it up and do little bits at a time and keep pushing you'll be a pro in no time. I have only been using the programme for 3 years now so if I can do it you can too!
for me, doesn't work the combination "Alt(Opt)+]". And now i'm stressed out. Is other way to use that option? I need it a soon answer. I'm use AE cc 2017, and i can't use the keyboard configuration, this version haven't.
I don't know if this will make sense but in my keyboard the * was the main key so in the english keyboard the ] was the main key so i changed it and it worked.
hi! thanks for the video, but i have a problem, when i turn the page it looks likes it did it from behind the other pages i mean the page i'm turning looks transparent, how can i fix that? thanks for the video again, and i'm sorry if it's a silly question i'm a begginer in this whole after effects thing.
Thanks for the tutorial! So far its really helpful, I only just started using AE recently so I don't really know what I'm doing xD After I've cut the front cover and linked the inside page to it they don't join together the inside page just flips individually behind the front cover, I can't figure out why it's doing this, any ideas?
Hey! Thanks for the tutorial. Was wondering if anyone else has an issue with their 3d pages...When I turn my layers 3d it seems like AE doesn't know which should be on top. If I adjust in z space it seems to mess up the rotation of the next layers. Things don't go so smoothly as they did in this tutorial...what am I doing wrong?
Hi Matt. Quick question. Whenever I switch the 3d layers on the inside L or R (not sure which one) pops to the front and covers the front page. Whenever its switch off its fine. What am I doing wrong?
your channel is awesome dude, but you gotta get your shit toghether if that makes sense, dude this is gold you can make it the best after effects channel on youtube!! very easely!!
Thanks a lot man, I'm glad you're a fan of the channel. My problem is I can't record in my office in town as I share with other freelancers and my laptop broke so I can't record at home anymore, I'm saving for a new laptop so once I finally get one I'll be able to push out more content!
Would you have the stamps imported as their own layers, but make them linked to that page's layer, so that they turn along with the page? If so, how do you make them "appear" - do you just adjust the layer's position so it begins at that point in the animation?
+Lauren A Hi Lauren, I had all the stamps in a precomp which like you said I had parented to the page so they interact with that pages turns. Inside the precomp I simply animated the scale and opacity properties, add added a few highlights when they made contact with the page. Simple stuff really! :)
Hey, thanks for the super helpful tutorial! I was wondering how you got the 3D effect of your pages and also the shadows on the pages of the passport? Did you design the entire passport and all its pages in Illustrator, then simply animate it in AE? Sorry for all the questions haha, but thanks again for the help! :)
Yeah pretty much, I can't remember exactly how we did it now as it was such a long time ago but I think we illustrated everything in Illustrator then precomped each page turn and duplicated the precomp and filled it black and dropped the opacity to create the shadow then just nudged it to the side a bit.
this video saved my whole life
😂😂😂
Your tutorials are incredible! Thank you so much :)
Thank you i have an question. when the cover flips, only caves over. although i connected the next page to the cover for parent...
Great tutorial! Very helpful

i think that inherited from the design in illustrator, its curved already in illustrator, so it gives that effect like the pages are bending. I think
thx for your knowledge by this tutorial very helpful. success for you dude

Great video, dude! I subscribed.
Angel Hernandez Thanks man! glad you liked it!
Great tute, how do I get the page curve used in your passport animation?
MrTriptik Hey man, it's the same process I just drew a curved page in Illustrator. Nothing fancy happening!
thanks, just wondered if the curve was added in AE or AI
MrTriptik All in Illustrator buddy! Share some stuff with me if you do anything with it! I'd love to see what you're working on!
Thanks for your help :) Greetings from Turkey.

Sounds like it could be a parenting issue but without seeing your project it's difficult to tell!

cant you show us how to put the layers in illustrator because I'm getting confused in after effect
How do you configure the animations on the page of your passport, when stamps pop up?
Would you have the stamps imported as their own layers, but make them linked to that page's layer, so that they turn along with the page? If so, how do you make them "appear" - do you just adjust the layer's position so it begins at that point in the animation?
