Although Superior's stores are largely located in less affluent and more Latino areas, it's not a "Mexican" supermarket in the same way as Northgate or Vallarta. It was founded by a Korean woman. They have a lot of items that latinos want, but so do Ralphs/Vons/Food For Less in those neighborhoods.
Yeah but lets be honest. The only people that shop and work there are mexicans. And they even have hot food in there that just so happens to be mexican. And all the stuff they sell is usually, well Mexican. They have all the things needed to make mexican food. Im not hating im just saying that i would def call it a hispanic food store. Yes you can buy regular groceries there but they have stuff that you wont find at a place like vons, safeway, etc. ntm the bakery they have in there makes mexican pastries. They def compare to northgate.
I live in the Bay Area, CA and our Food For Less stores all closed down due to high rates of theft years ago. I miss ours, especially since I live like 2 minutes away from where it was, because it had the best produce and meat selection. Ours catered to the Hispanic and Filipino population and they expect quality when it comes to fresh ingredients. Places like Safeway just suck in comparison but it's all we got...plus the prices are way higher.
@@MayorMcheese12 That's because of the area it's located which is mostly Latino. If they opened in areas which mostly white, black or others they might sell some different things.
@@MayorMcheese12 That depends on the neighborhood and, like I wrote, they have stores in areas with lots of Latinos. The one in Baldwin hills stocks a lot of Caribbean and "soul food" items you don't normally find at Vons, Ralphs, etc., because it's in a "Black" neighborhood. Which is why I shop there when I need those items. You can find Mexican pastries, bulk beans, Jamaica, and meats sliced the way Mexicans prefer at Ralphs also in the same neighborhoods as the Superior stores I've been to. Superior is just catering to what the neighborhood wants to buy. That doesn't make it "Mexican".
Ya usually the flan in cups sold like that, have the caramel overly runny (water like)which is pretty much expected to always be like that… you can find it more thicker in consistency when it’s homemade or sold like in restaurants which just overall tastes way better imo.
Tamales taste great, they got great flavor, just texture wise they are more on the “moister” side which can leave you with a mushy tamal. Especially true with the raja ones. Taste great just overly moist.
It's awesome to see you check out Superior! My moms worked for them for 20+ years. Glad you enjoyed it! The hot foods section makes pretty awesome burritos, should check those out!
"I saw what looked like rice cookers" (sitting on top of a giant cart, labeled "Tamales"). ".... but when I opened it up, it turned out to be Tamales." 🤷♂
I believe they are one of the few places that have turkey carnitas. At least the one on Whittier Blvd in Montebello had them the last time I was there. They were good, too.
Your rolling of rrr's when you said Chicharrón, is most impressive dude! I live in the middle of Missouri after moving here from SOCAL, and your videos make me both homesick and happy. ❤️🔥 Thank you!
We don't usually eat guacamole with chicharron. We would break up that into bite-sized pieces and squeeze some lemon or lime and drizzle some Tapatio, Valentina, or Cholula on top.
Hey Sho, thanks for this video. :) I was looking for new snacks for my brother to recommend and try with. I'm going to pick him up today and we're going to our local mexican grocery store to pick some up. :D
When I was 11, I suffered serious head trauma. Anyways, I have a memory before that someone in my family made flan. Honestly, that’s one of my favorite desserts right next to Guavas con miel [with honey].
I swear I'm the only one that didn't think the Guac chicharon combo was mind blowing. It's really good but it needs a vinegary element to it to round it our.
I miss Superior in Santa Ana when I used to live in Orange County. They’ve got a lot of selections not only Mexican foods but Latin American foods as well.
Next time order "chicharrón con carne." Pork rind/belly with meat. Then dip in the guacamole. Or have it chopped up, dollop of guac on a nice warm tortilla.
That flan was a packaged powder kind that is no where near authentic. And the tamales are a terrible greasy mass produced mess. Also no where near authentic. Only in mom and pops shops would you find all these items in the video be edible.

@@J7pat7 @thomasjmclain oh i didnt know that
Damn that chicharron can feed a small village...😂
One of the most cultured guys on youtube ✊🏽
Chicharrón is always justified!
Not always. The chicharron could be tough instead of crispy if not cooked or trimmed correctly beforehand.
Not with guac 🤢
The Flan "Caramel" is suppose to have a runny consistency FYI. Tamales looked sus.
I was gonna mention the same. Processed flans are different

I buy those every week. Not oily, no after taste.
Delicious!!
I usually pair my Chicharron with a durag and lime/ tapatio
I believe they are one of the few places that have turkey carnitas. At least the one on Whittier Blvd in Montebello had them the last time I was there. They were good, too.

Love This!!

Did you also like the way he pronounced “te-mal” for tamale and put giac on chichirone?
When you gonna review Tommy's at Beverly and Rampart? 😊

Good ole Superior ☺️. 💃🏿 They have really good beans there!

Man, just fasten that bad boy into the passenger seat and you've got a carpool lane no problem. Just put a hat on it.
Great price for tamales easily can devour 3 or 4 perfect for lunch

The caramel is always that consistency, dude
Flon is soo good
I would munch this and then start crying because I guarantee you that’s probably at least 95% of all your allotted daily calories 😂
Shopocho channel has a 10/10 value score
Holy shit I want that 😂😂
When you gonna review Tommy's?
Wow
Flan caramel should be like that!
I like chicken tamale or ground beef tamale. Also cheese tamale. I love salsa verde.
Ive never had a sweet tamale.
giant chicharron needs a giant return of the durag!! 🗣️🗣️
It literally said Tamales on the sign and bro thought it was rice 😂😅

Oh yeah, value
Nothing more busing then guac and crispy chicharon
your audacity to have chicharron in yo car tho lol😅😅
It is ok, real authentic Hispanic flan will always have watery caramel
Pound and mince garlic, Thai chilis and Filipino white vinegar and dip that chicharron in it and some warm white rice, bruhhhhh 👨🍳💋
THAT CHICHARRON!💀💀💀
👍🙏🏼
please wear the durag again
"WOW THAT'S BIG!".......that's what she said 🙄
I just saw the view went from 180 to 179
Hey Sho, how was your day? Question....tell us about the gun show today 💪
That’s an absurdly sized snack.
Is that chicharron cardiac friendly ?
thats a whole pig skin!
“Te-mall” ?!?😂
😊el chicharon definitely overpriced in mexico some tianguis they sell it very cheap
Brah you have been in mexico, why didnt you try chicharron there 😅
I feel the scores to excitement ratio is a bit unbalanced
"You can tell they really stuffed it with meat." 💀
the tamal very soft? 😭

Flan caramel is thin on purpose
Deep fried pork skin
The Flaun...eh, the tamales looks good, and the fried pork skin looks...eh.
thought the caramel is supposed to be watered down
Guac is 9 dollars? America is wild
Where is your durag
Next time order "chicharrón con carne." Pork rind/belly with meat. Then dip in the guacamole. Or have it chopped up, dollop of guac on a nice warm tortilla.
Bro it read tamales right on the rice cookers
I think flan is supposed to be like that?
Did Sho say he’s Asian?? I couldn’t tell!!
I think he is Korean
Day 10 of asking for the durag back #DURAGORDIE
Those chicarons are supposed to be bought in portions not the whole thing lol
That looks like a creme brulee and in this case the caramel it's supposed to be watery.😅

I personally take eating a tamale with a spoon disrespectful.
( dont worry im not hating )

it can’t be that big… right???
No but why does the flan look like the fat and oil from meat 😅
