I'm so glad you're planning to restock the bookmarks as I'd love to get a set which are so pretty! I love the sound of thunder as well and rainstorms which are one of my favorite kinds ASMR videos. I really enjoyed participating in the 24 hr readathon in which I was able to finish a book! Participating in the Magical Readathon is one of my favorite things to do despite setting my TBR way too high! I have read 6 out of the 10 required subjects so far, hoping to also read the group book and possibly get to 5-7 other books :D
So I finished 8 books and almost done with number 9 😂 It’s amazing. I’m enjoying myself so much. I’m so happy and feel amazing and just so loved by eveybody who’s so kind! 🥰💙✨

I missed the readathon! Which I'm so sad about, but my husband is out of town working, (15 days, only halfway through) I have read 4 book for my newts- total read is 5 out of 10. 2 technically are extas so 5/8? Either way. Super psyched. Read all 3 in the series of the Inventors Secret by Andrea Cremer (just got Turncoat's Gambit book #3) and absolutely LOVE THEM ALL. 1st, 2nd and 3rd time reading each book. I'm doing so much better than I thought I would! Honestly thought that schoolwork (distance education college student here, no summer vacation for me!) would make the N.E.W.T.s difficult but because I have to read 50 books for my literature class it's actually perfect to motivate me haha!
I struggled reading the English Patient, took me almost a week, but then I finished both Strange the Dreamer and Muse of nightmares in a freakin weekend! OMG!! Thank you for recommending them! I have such a warm feeling now, after finishing them!
I love the cake! :D also I would rather you sleep good than read lots :) 😂 I sometimes have my socks half off, but only when it's too cold to take them off and the band bothers my ankle. And I can't have only one half off so I nudge the other down too! I don't know if this is a similar thing for other people, but that's why I do it :D
If you want a good psychological scifi thriller, you should definitely read Flowers for Algernon. It's about medical experiments on people with learning difficulties. I don't want to say more in case it's too spoilery, but it's one of those things that make you think about ethical questions.
So this inspired me to run down the street and buy some blue and bronze nail polish (had a long discussion with the shop assistants whether or not the bronze nail polish was actually bronze and then realised it wasn't that important :P). Now just need to find some time in which to put it on when I won't be doing anything to smudge it.
I finished two novels and a graphic novel this weekend, which felt awesome! I'm now up to 10 books complete for NEWTs. Sorry to hear you didn't like Sorcery of Thorns. I really enjoyed it but no book is going to be a winner for everyone.
I think Under the Dome by Stephen King would be considered an urban sci fi? That's what your description reminded me of. I'm completely obsessed with your bookmarks, they're 100% my new favourite ones! My cat destroys cardboard boxes exactly like that! It's so annoying, we always find tiny pieces of cardboard all over the place 😂

I've read both the Sleeping Giant series and Dark Matter, and I recently read Permafrost (which is really short btw, but perfect length for the story) by Alastair Reynolds. I really liked that one. It might not be exactly what you are looking for, because it's about time travel/alteration, which is a premise I don't usually like but here it was done really well. But it was urban sci-fi and really thrilling at times. Anyways, loved the vlog!
just a tip about the ducks, you mentioned bread but bread is really bad for ducks!! it makes their wings curl and it's really hard for them to fly like that, and its just generally bad for their digestive system. i would suggest feeding them cracked corn or birdseed.
Not gonna lie, I wish subscription boxes would stop with the stag thing. On a couple of things, sure, but I feel like it is used on everything now. There are more Patronus’ than Harry or Snape.... I would like a bit more creativity with this.

Bread actually isn't good for ducks so that was lucky! You should try taking things like corn, shredded lettuce, peas, or duck pellets (you can usually find waterfowl food at pet stores, also online).
You may like The Man Who Ended the World by Jason Gurley!!! I am in the same boat as you regarding Sorcery of Thorns. I never really connected to the story and it took me a long time to get through it.
So glad your ordering more bookmarks I haven't gotten a chance to catch any before they sale out yet and i need them in my life but also my 10 year old daughter Jordan is having a fit over them and wants them for her and her harry potter loving friends and teachers at her school. I think the genre your thinking of as urban science fiction is often called Speculative Fiction. I'd recommend looking into more books in that genre to see if you like more there. One book I read recently that was like that was An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. Let me know if you find more of these books you like!

please please please don't ever feed bread to ducks!!!!!! It kills them! They get full very fast but since there are not nearly enough digestible nutrients in the bread they feel full but they actually starve to death! If it's not something the animal can naturally find/eat in the wild it should not be fed to them! (I understand that a lot of people don't know this so hopefully you see this!)

I think the genre your thinking of as urban science fiction is often called Speculative Fiction. I'd recommend looking into more books in that genre to see if you like more there. One book I read recently that was like that was An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. Let me know if you find more of these books you like!

yeah, no grains like popcorn, bread, chips - it makes their tummies swell up when actually they'll be starving, not good nutrition for them - but corn, oats or rice is good, grapes are great or lettuce bits or earthworms if you're into gardening and find some! :) No shade G, just to be aware

please please please don't ever feed bread to ducks!!!!!! It kills them! They get full very fast but since there are not nearly enough digestible nutrients in the bread they feel full but they actually starve to death! If it's not something the animal can naturally find/eat in the wild it should not be fed to them! (I understand that a lot of people don't know this so hopefully you see this!)
