Hi Shane, thanks forcreating this tutorial which is super helpful! I am facing a problem on ordering the data cards in a form. I have a massive table where all fields are presented in a same form, and i want to order the data cards linked to certain fields in my share point table in the form. I did most of the cards by adjusting in position X and Y, however there is 1 card that doesnt work. ie. however what number i enter in the X and Y position boxes, the card doesnt move at all. When I am back checking the numbers in X and Y, these numbers went back to the original default setting. May I pleae know if this is something you have seen before and any helps are appreciated!

probably a very silly question, I have created the form, when I click on play ("the form) nothing comes up? I followed the video step by step, and I used the gallery view, although my gallery fields are blank, I don't need the gallery view, I just want to see a form, kind of like you would see when filling it in on paper.
If you want the form to create a new record and be blank you need the form to be in New mode. It defaults to Edit. ruclips.net/video/BnzaSDYl8mA/видео.html

After practicing Power Apps, I have come across some questions:
1. In Dataverse, there is a lookup column 'Currency' in the Opportunity table. Is there a way to add a drop-down control in PowerApps such that instead of showing the default options (1,2 and 3), it shows the options that are already defined in Dataverse (US Dollar, Australian Dollar etc.)? Can it be achieved without manually defining the options in Canvas Apps, since there are hundreds of currencies and would like to sync my drop-down control with Dataverse lookup column.
2. While working with Edit Forms in Power Apps, I've noticed that when I try to add a lookup field such as 'Potential Customer' on the edit form of Opportunity table, it inserts a blank data card. However, when I add the 'Currency' field, the data card gets added with the field properly. Any reason behind this?

There is no situation forms are required. :) SOmetimes you might use them because they are quick and easy but never because you ahve to.

I have a Sharepoint list that Iḿ using as datasource for my app. In the first column (Company) I have a list of companies, but some of them have more than one at the same column as (Company1, Company1) with different sub-items. What I need help is - How can I group them in the Gallery or DropDown so they show only one of each, and only shows the rest when selected? Is it possible?
You mentioned the StarVisible part of the card, how do you actually define a field as being required?
That comes from your data source. PowerApps determines it on its own.

Great stuffs Shane. Thanks to your videos I've been able to create a first app for my office and got great feedback. But recently I noticed that the layout and fields info are no longer appearing on the data source pop up screen. Same as seen in this video at the 5 mins mark. It was showing previously though. Any idea how I can bring them back?
They have updated. If you look to the right can click fields and should be good.

Shane, with the gallery Titles, in your video are these list items? I'm building a fairly large form at work for a new contracts management system and as the SharePoint list has roughly 75 columns, rather than scrolling down one form, it would be useful to be able to use something like the gallery to navigate through different parts of the form rather than scrolling forever.

Great videos - I'm new to PowerApps & have learnt a lot from your tutorials - thanks.
However, I have one issue relating to dropdowns in a form.
I have a dropdown in a form that relates to a numeric field which is the ID of a store. The dropdown is loading ID and Title columns. When I load the record in the form I can see the ID number if I set the dropdown to use the ID - this value changes depending on which record I select in the source gallery (the gallery data source is a SharePoint list).
If I select the text value (Title field) to display in the dropdown I just get the first item from the dropdown source list (another SharePoint list) value - the displayed value in the dropdown (the store name) doesn't reflect the value associated with the ID value from the gallery/SharePoint list.
Any suggestions on how I use the ID as the data item but display the appropriate text in the dropdown?

Just a quick question. For your spacing, wouldn't it be easier to make multiple forms then select the column (from SharePoint) you want to display, then place where you want the page?
Maybe. There are lots of ways to do it. Submitting a bunch of forms can be difficult though.
Hey Shane! I’ve watched this and your PowerApps forms mode video a couple of times and I still can’t figure out my issue. Seems like either a bug or simple oversight.
I’ve attached a SharePoint list data source to my form and all the columns and corresponding drop down information shows up, and when I use the alt key play test it shows and works, but when I actually go in to play it shows me the “no data to display” screen.
I’ve tried changing the form modes like you do in your next video and still the same outcome of no data to show. For what I’m doing with the app having a gallery to auto fill the data based on selection doesn’t make sense, but do I still need the gallery for the form to work?

Hi Shawn, I'm struggling a bit with this, I've created the same form as you. the only difference is that I have two screens in the form. Screen1 and screen2. both screens have info on the selected item in the gallary. So for example I select Chewy and I see the info on chewy in screen one, then I select screen2 to see more info about chewy but the highlight bar on the gallary just randomly chooses another item. So I have to manually go back and choose Chewy. Is there a way to tell the gallary to STAY on the selected item? Thanks
Hey Scott use the varRecord concept from this video instead of Gallery.Selected and you can overcome this common issue 😀

Hi Shane, at 04:44 you get to access the Form Pop Out form by clicking on any of the three options, such as Data. This gives you the option to refresh the datasource or edit the data etc. When I click on my form I can't see these options at all. Have things changed since you made this video? Thanks
Yes. Now when you click on the form of you look to the right you have slightly different options. But all the same things are over there.
Shane, at 12:25 where you're explaining field types, is there a way to set a text field to a dropdown? Or does power apps determine that for us?

Hi Shane, I've built a Powerapp Form from a SharePoint List and managed to incorporate a cascading dropdown field but if the field setting in SharePoint is set to "Yes must have info", I get "An entry is required or has an invalid value. Please correct and try again on Powerapps" when I try to save the form in SharePoint. If I set the field to "No", I can save the form but no matter what I select in the cascading fields, the corresponding field in my SharePoint list is blank. What should I do to make sure my entry can get saved to SharePoint correctly after I select from the cascading fields?

Hi Shane, great video's - I learn a lot from them. I am relatively new to Powerapps, but I have an issue with trying to show an edit-form. I get the message ' The property expects Record Values, but this rule produces incompatible Table values', and I haven't been able to figure out why. My gallery is coming from a PowerBIIntegration.Data object (works fine in itself), the editform has SQL server as a database. I try to connect the 2 by setting the item property to Filter('[dbo].[Tbl_CCMdata]',Srvc_order_unit=Gallery1.Selected.'Srvc Order Unit'). (Tble_CCMdata is the Sql data, the field in srvc_order_unit is seen by PowerApps as a String. The value of the selected value in Gallery1, 'srvc Order Unit' comes from the PowerBI datasource.) Any ideas why this isn't working? When I load my PowerApp in PowerBI, I see 'getting your data' continuously as well by the way (this may be a different problem)
Try lookup instead of filter.

Hi Shane, thank you for all the videos! My form works perfectly but somehow when I navigate to the previous page, and went back to the form page, the form is missing and will show 'getting your data...'. All the forms field will appear if I click New Form but somehow all the previous details that was typed in went missing. How do I fix this?
Check the Item property of your form. Guessing you did not set it.

I have a form connected to a gallery which is filtered by 2 date pickers, the form worked with item set to search gallery selected until i added the date pickers now it gives me this error "invalid formula. Expected a value compatable with the 'data source'"

How to create a tab view ? Something like the one in excel when u click on sheet that opens the same way on click of different tabs different forms should open but on same screen .

Great video. I just have one question. What about if you finish the whole app but you are asked to create a mail merge operation from a one record in powerapps to a word document?. Basically, you are asked to pick up 5 fields of 40 fields in powerapp and mail merge those fields to a MS Word document. The mechanics will be to push those 5 fields to specific positions in the MS Word document. Can powerapps do that like it can be done from access 2019 > External Data > Word > connect to a form and wham! the 5 fields end up in the right position in the word document. Can power apps do that?
David there are some Flow actions. That can help. Use PowerApps to send the data to Flow and have Flow do it.
Hi Shane, many thanks for the nice tutorial. You mentioned that you any another video where you have specified to define the Mode. I mean when the form is in edit or submit mode then a specific field should be hidden. Whereas when the form is in view mode then the field to be displayed. Could you please share the link of the video. Seems very useful.

Is it possible to have a field stretch the HEIGHT of a column without stretching the rest of the columns? For instance, I'd like to have my form fields on the left and have one field, say Comments, run down the entire right side of my form. When I add the Comments field and stretch it down, it pulls the other columns down as well. Really hoping this is possible. Thanks!

I love this video. But I have this question for you Shane... I designed a form which uses SharePoint list as data source. When I moved (export & Import) this into production and I updated the dat source with production list (Same columns) and it asks to replace / keep the data cards. Obviously I want to keep it, but when I removed the old datasource .... existing datacards on the form throws error. Is there a way that we can use the previous datacards without having to replace them when a datasource is updated?

I absolutely love your videos and they have helped a lot when setting up power apps forms. The one thing that drives me crazy though is that when I set labels or my sections and I have a scrollable form, the text labels scroll with the forms! I have tried setting the positioning using the X, Y components, tried using alignment, etc. and nothing seems to work! Do you have any quick tips on how to get that done?

I needed to create a scrollable form and set different sections/screens on the scrollable form. Unfortunately, I did not do that... 😞 You live and you learn! As a novice user at best, I have too much time invested into the initial form to start over again.

Hello Shane, I have a Document library that uses a customized Content Type Document Set, I'm trying to build a App for it, but the field "Name" which holds de Folder name of an item, appear in the Form as ViewType, I cannot edit it, do you know if I can create a App for a customized Content Type Document Set ?
But the way, I'm getting the error "The specified column is generated by the server and can't be specified", I think when you work with Content Type Document Set, you can't create a APP for it ?
I haven't tried, sorry. But I wouldn't be surprised if you struggled. Content Types and Document sets add curve balls. :( you might have to look to the SharePoint API to do it.
Is it possible to add multiple forms within a form, to create a from or data. For example, you are filling a benefits form, a user has the option to add more than one beneficiary within the same form. when a user submits the form, the admin can review the form and view the multiple beneficiaries within the form.
I went through the steps to add a form to a new screen and when I view the screen says "no item to display". Not sure what I missed

Hey Shane! I'm running into an error for a powerapp that is tracking savings projects. For some reason every time I go to save I receive and error saying that my field that holds the savings value (number) is expecting a string and can't save. Have you seen this error before and do you know a way around it?
Guessing you are writing a text number instead of a number number. Try Value(textinput.text)

I've followed your exact procedure and everythings exect the image. The picture from the my sharepoint list does not get imported into powerapps. The field in the list is called photo. This doesnt even appear as a field in powerapps. its just not there, why?

Hi there, how do you set up your sharepoint list so that employee images show in the power app gallery. I have images of our employees in a employee sharepoint list but when I insert the gallery I do not seem to be able to show these images as you do in all of your videos.
I have a "Hyperlink or Picture" column in my list set to PIcture. Then for the URL I store the link to the file in a SharePoint Document library.

Is it necessary to select record from gallery or previous screen, how to get a particular record from db directly for editing and displaying. not sure if this is possible, may be take entire db rows into collection and decide which row i want to throw into the screen.. Alll the examples i have seen goes first to gallery and then edit, listview and edit view..

It did not show any where in the video how Form fields are linked to the selection on Gallery.
When you set the Item property to Gallery.Selected that tells the form what Record to show. All of the fields are then displayed for that record.

Hi Shane, for some reason when I am adding a Form in edit mode and connecting to a datasource it's not displaying "text" controls. It just shows fields label and no data. Can you please suggest what might be going wrong?
I found the reason why forms are not showing controls. The table from the datasource is in read-only mode.

Dear Shane YoungI followed your video. I am using a Power App Trial Version. I am connecting to Database on my laptop. I created the Gallery as you showed.When I added the Forms Edit- added the datasource same as in Gallery. It did not add the fields as you showed. I had to add the fields usig Edit Fields in the property pane. After Doing this. I am getting only the Field names.No text box to Enter or Modify data. What is your data source? If it doesn’t have a primary key PowerApps cannot edit or create records.

What type of list is it? You can use the other at the bottom of the list of lists for the SharePoint data source to add it.

After my organization decided to discontinue use of SmartSheet and move to Office 365, I have been forced to learn the suite of applications quickly in order to migrate my elaborate systems to this new platform. Your videos have been amazing in my journey to master this complex web of applications...thanks! Curious if you know what formula to use if you want two toggles (yes/no) to be connected when they are located on a gallery view, and a data card view. The goal is that when it is changed on one screen, it automatically changes on the other.

Min 6:35 is there any way to grow a data card vertically without modifying the entire row height? Kind of the same horizontally but vertically

I am referencing some excel sheets for creating LOV in power apps. Power apps is asking me to share the excel file with the user as well. is there a better method?
Don't use Excel as a data source. 😀 Use a SharePoint list. This is a topic for a future video for sure. Excel just isn't a good app data source.

Reason is I want to try and make the same as in this video, but I need to create that list, especially about the image, "Face" field, is it an Image column or attachment? Basically I need to know the structure and need to insert some record similar like this, first.

Face is a Hyperlink column set to picture. The files are saved in a doc library. I do need to make a video about that list. 😀
Hi Shane, I am looking for a way to add a chart (that looks like a grid) on the PowerApps form where the user can cut multiple cells from an Excel spreadsheet and paste it in the chart within the PowerApps Form. I have been seeing instructions to upload information from excel sheets but I just want the cut and paste to work. Thanks a million.
