I want to go back to the '80s. I was a teenager back then. So many memories of good times, no stress, still young, best music ever made,... I'm glad to see they still make this kind music
@@kentgpins9402 They are not - they're following a pattern and formula. Whoever makes it sound like the 80s the best has succeeded. There are differences despite this, e.g. massive full-on analog synth basses aren't found in the new music. No (or hardly any) FM either. Also, limitations of sequencers at the time, e.g. trigger all patterns on 1, produced a music with its own swing. If you look back at bands like Autumn or Linear Movement, take the headphones off and play it on a hifi and you'll see what I mean. These phase separation tricks in the new music are engineers' tricks to create more space and atmosphere inside headphones. If you want a full-on demo of all things I just mentioned, go back and listen to the original theme song of Terminator (1984). The machines had their own song and in the 80s artists tried to bring out that song. Today, people can only try to reverse engineer that. And it sounds like a builders anthem on Radio 1 most of the time - doesn't succeed. The harmonic progressions are period correct but there was more to the synth music back then.
I saw many, many, many 80's bands at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, Norfolk Uk. Fantastic times, crazy fashion, hair do's etc. Lower Common Room, fantastic Student Union. Love all of this Vid.
I do like the fact these "newish" bands need to sound like the early 80's electro-synth bands in order to sound modern and futuristc. The Eighties did it best.
It's not because the 80's were futuristic in the first place. It's because we seem to be unable to think of something new so we have to revive sounds from 40 years ago. It's the same with clothing by the way.
i was listening wave / gothic / EBM etc like 20+ years ago (best days) ... and i am surprised that the scene is still alive! long live you, goths and all other creatures of night!
Always great to come across a talent. This will be an afternoon kitchen dance, to lead into the New Year. As a 55 year old ex raver and adult daughter home for the holidays. Headphones on. Big smile on my face. Thanks matey.
Actually SYNTH-POP and for example GOTHIC, WAVE, NEOFOLK or EBM, Industrial are very different genres. But very often all that styles will be called GOTH MUSIC or DARK MUSIC.
people confuse goth for mainstream emo. even true emo music isnt depressing. Hot topic just hyped up mainstream emo bands like the used, My chemical romance, and hawthore heights after promoting gothic culture for so long that the laymen just made the two synonymous. It's a shame really. no one rally wants to learn about the differnces in genres or subgenres, and if you try to educate them they label you as a "gatekeeper".
Never been a goth but I'm a big fan of both music . I have bi polar disorder and have had many a battle with depression over the years . In all the years I have been listening to goth I have never thought of it as depressing personally I find it up lifting bands like Bauhaus the mission sisters of Mercy who are often called a goth band . When they toured Australia recently they were top shit . For got the lead singers name right now it escapes me at the moment . He said he never liked sisters of Mercy being regarded as a goth band . Goth or not sisters of Mercy are fucking awsome and in no way depressing . This music makes me feel good . Thanks for posting it . Cheers from a goth fan Sydney aus. 22/6)2023 ❤❤😂😂
Great beat apart from this one time in the club IBS is a terriable thing and I left my mark whoops, shout out to the dodgy curry shop on the high street thank you
Smoke that. Nobody is playing cards. If the '80s did it best then take a trip there. This is beautiful progression. _ '84 would love to tap this but it ain't that simple.
@Syntox Well I've done the wedding (went well, but one's enough for me) so I've just got to plan that funeral. Trouble is, there's so much good music to play that it's going to be v e r y long. I think the only answer is to hold it in weekly instalments. If you're going to have a party you might as well make it a good one - after all, you only die once (I think...).
This brings me back to the mood of the 80's....A wonderful decade, interesting and mysterious...Maybe that's how I feel from today's perspective as a 50 year old man and then I was a teenager
Amen.

These new bands are better than the 80s

Good music iscgood music. Different genre, but She & Him make great 50-60s style of music, like how The Suffragettes make surf music. I like this.

Yah, me too. Kids like us are better new and fresh anyways.

I don't know why people think goths are depressed, this music is straight up jolly.
It is just the stoical knowledge that at the end death and entropy takes us and everything in this material world away

The people who think that goths are depressed, are the type who want easy answers to everything.
More of synth pop with emphasis on pop than hardcore syth or goth. Good tunes but like you said, more on the light side.
I see Mira & Helen - I click. Thanks!
I remember being 13 with my first records listening to all the "B" sides in my bedroom. The sound were so special & evocative to me & still are.
The best compilations provider in town
