Hey! This is Sarah, the Hidden Victoria tour guide in the video. Of course Victoria is worth the effort to get off the ship! Glad you enjoyed my trivia and jokes. Come back and spend more time in Victoria and the rest of Vancouver Island. Safe travels to us all. I’m moving to Morocco in Aug 2024 to teach tour guiding in Casablanca! Bon voyage to all
I know a lot of people wouldn’t be crazy about being in port for 4 hours, but I like the idea! You have time to sleep in after doing some crazy stuff the previous few days, get your bags ready for disembarkation, get to see the scenery while coming into port. I still think it’s better to stop than to not stop at all! If anything, let it be an incentive for people to visit Canada! I’ve only ever traveled through eastern Canada, but it is very much worth the effort of getting a passport!!!!
Just returned from this cruise 2 weeks ago. We packed during the day, and we did a bus excusion. Very informative, but I wish that we had more time in Victoria. We live in metro Detroit so we are just 40 minutes from Canada and have visited numerous times. Victoria BC was very different and I look forward to returning soon.
Too bad you only had a few hours here in Victoria. Hopefully you will be able to come back another time and see more of it 😀 Thanks for sharing your experience.
Most people seem to say that they wish they had more time in Victoria. Yes, it is because of the Jones Act, but why such a short visit. ? Most only stay for a few hours, but some like the Cunard Queen Elizabeth stay all day. I heard that it was because the cruise lines actually own a lot of the attractions in Alaska, shops, tours etc. and that is where they want you to spend your tourist dollars , NOT in Canada!
Great video guys! We feel like we got jipped! 4 hours was not enough, and it was probably closer to 3 hours after finally snagging a taxi. It was such a beautiful Port, we would’ve loved a full day there.
Thanks for watching! A full day in Victoria is so nice! I haven’t gotten to your Victoria video yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing how your short day went.
Hi guys, this video series was very informative, interesting and enjoyable. Thank you both so much. We will be going on this exact cruise next year end of May. We will be bringing our children and grandchildren ranging in ages 14 to 24 yrs. with us. I will encourage all of them to watch this series of Quantum of the Seas! Thanks again so much, happy cruising and stay safe😊🛼🏊🏼♂️🎼🛳️
My next year Sept princess majestic cruise will stop by Victoria from 7pm to 11:50 pm . I am speechless. Will stay in the ship for dinner. You will have to clear custom, that's take some time. Does not make sense to get off the ship.
Loved this video ( I sound like a broken record) and wow amazing info about the whales and the fishermen wharf. I recall your previous Victoria trip and you guys had the most beautiful weather. I think the Jones Act became more of a awareness of its existence during pandemic how dumb it is in certain situations. Jaylynn looked very sad at the end 😂. Can’t wait for new Navigator serie 🫶🏻
I live in Victoria and love the buzz in the city when the cruise ships come in. Of course the NIMBYs don't like it! They used to stop here much longer, to give people a chance to see more like the Gardens. Apparently is that the Cruise lines now own most of the gift stores in Alaska! They don't want you spending money elsewhere, hence the short stay!
Is unfortunately a trick that cruise lines are starting to do it more and more since they need to reach a Canadian port in an Alaskan cruise by Maritime Law. The sad thing is many guests are not reading the hours when booking the cruise and their you go. To find a cruise that really stays 7-8 hours in Victoria is like Scavanger Hunt. When I was working on NCL Jewel in 2016 we where there for 7 hours which was really cool. I wanted to book a cruise for next year as passenger this time and have Victoria also for the good memories but I skip it. Even the travel agent put the arrival time 7 am to 10pm but because I know the trick I find out before booking that was actually 7pm. I recommend to visit Victoria on your own for a day or two. Worth it
Do you need your passport or does royal Caribbean’s birth cert and state ID suffice to adventure in Victoria? Also I have an infant who will be 9 months? Can he go into Canada too?
You don’t have to get off the ship, but you’re technically still traveling internationally, because you leave US waters, and enter into Canadian territory.
We just did this last sailing of the season and found it to be the WORST itinerary. 1. We lost Ketchikan as a port due to weather (understandable not within anyone's control) so we were only in Alaska for 2 days. 2. When we got to Victoria on a Sunday at 5pm, everything was closed except the nick knack touristy shops.
I’m sorry to hear that. Unfortunately most Alaska cruises only have 3 stops, so if any got cancelled it would really suck. But Victoria is almost a waste of time with how little time you get.
We took a 2 hour pedicab tour. Driver took us to parks, downtown with great stories, Chinatown, peacocks and back to ship. Fun and informative

Y’all are so cute! 💗Your video was very helpful. We are taking an Alaskan cruise in June. So excited!

This video was extremely helpful. I am scheduled to go to Alaska next Aug. 2025. Looking forward to it. Now I know.. pack before Victoria, lol!

My Alaska cruise was unable to stop at Victoria due to high winds so they sent a token small boat in to touch the land.
Great video guys! We feel like we got jipped! 4 hours was not enough, and it was probably closer to 3 hours after finally snagging a taxi. It was such a beautiful Port, we would’ve loved a full day there.

Quantum in general was great. But yes, not enough time. We plan on going on Ovation that will give plenty of time in Victoria and not be rushed.
Thanks! We’ll save Victoria for another time.
Great content! I can't wait to visit Alaska on cruise. 🚢thanks for sharing

Actually on your way to Alaska you travel the Inside Passage which are Canadian waters, your first entry into Canada.

Stopping at one foreign port allows the cruise industry to avoin US labor rules which would force them to pay much higher wages to crew.
What US Labour Laws??

Can we just stay in the cruise itself to avoid port of entry or other visas issues ?? Please let me know
You don’t have to get off the ship, but you’re technically still traveling internationally, because you leave US waters, and enter into Canadian territory.
You can stay on the ship. Getting off is optional
So she walks you back to the Port? This sounds interesting. We go next month.
Yes, I can walk you back. This is Sarah, the tour guide😊

The truth is. Cruiseship must arrive at least one international port for at least for 4 hrs.
WHY DID YOU GO IF IT WAS SO BAD
These 2 are right. Victoria is a wasted stop. Whatever cruise line
Thanks for all the things and I'm about to go on it in 2 days and you really have given me a lot of thing to do
Thank you so much for sticking with me the entire series! I’m looking forward to hearing about your cruise
