Hi just done this job myself. Did the same with the backup cam. But i think it Wold have worked with just tapping into the two wires in the plug where the radio is and have the car running and put the gear in reverse.
Good video! My late bro in law inherited me his 2015 Camaro ss and looking to do this. Could you share link where you bought and model number. An I like your pedals! Where did you get them thanks!
Pedals are stock for a ZL1. As far as the radio, I wouldn't buy it. Stick with a Sony, Kenwood, Alpive or what you like and get a Meastro interface or another brand. This radio drops wifi when running Pandora and is clunky when trying to switch to A/C or other modes.
@@fasnuf Actually, the Onstar RCA cables are it. I just got the actual Digital Octupus DO2 (looks like the factory MyLink) and in their install video (and my actual installation) connecting those cables gets you the factory microphone. In fact, I made the mistake of having the sound turned up way too loud and I got feedback from that microphone.
@@cetifoxproductions OK, well you comment and then delete it but I get it in my email but can't respond because you deleted it. Yes my console USB works and I thought I explained that in the video, maybe not. My onstar RCA cable didn't work which really didnt matter much to me because I wasnt interested enough in onstar. Maybe if I pursued it more I couldve got it to work and the mic too.
@@fasnuf I deleted it because I went back and caught that part of your video (I somehow missed it the first viewing). As for the OnStar connections, that's odd, because on my Camaro it definitely connected the microphone in the overhead console...not sure why my experience would be different, unless the particular trim on my 2013 SS (w/sunroof) was the key. I'm not complaining, though, the mic works great. I did go ahead and order the GM1 adapter (and I shared that info w/Digital Octopus), so I'm anxious to get my console USB back.
yes, i think im getting used to it pretty fast, i wish there was a way to bind the second knob to the A/C fan speed. also, do you get good audio from the mic? mine is really squeaky when in a call
How does that new touchscreen radio sound ? Did u get to use the new EQ yet ? Does it have pre amp outputs and video output on the back ? Let me know. Thanks😁
I would say it's not as good as say a Sony or Kenwood. I don't remember the outputs and there's no manual to reference. You would have to watch the video and try and see
Yes for both questions, but after having this for a while, I wished I got something else. What, I don’t know, but this thing has WiFi issues and is hard to navigate.
@@fasnuf After prowling around ebay and rewatching your video I noticed several identical units with different brand names. Eventually discovered a dash kit without the head unit that looks the same. If I'm correct you could probably remove the head unit from the frame and replace it with any 10" android stereo if you are having trouble with the current one. The canbus and dash kit are the expensive parts. They probably get the kit and add a $45 head unit and mark up the price!
Installed this exact stereo in my 2015 Camaro having trouble connecting my phone to Apple car play it connects via Bluetooth on settings app of stereo is there any other steps or special app on the stereo I need to connect to for my Apple car play to work
Did you ever have a problem with it throwing off your tire tpms sensors?? And did you have any problem with it reading mp3s on (USB) in the music app?? TiA.
I wouldnt buy it again, but only because it takes too many button pushes to get to the A/C controls. Also for some reason if I'm on Pandora and drive near certain cell towers, it'll lose it's connection. I think the wifi isnt shielded enough in the receiver. Other than that it still works but my camaro isnt a daily.
@@fasnuf thanks for the info yeah a lot of people complaining about ac some of them cannot even turn it on but i dont know for an better alternatives in my country only this one have warranty
How does it sound? I haven't seen a single review or installation on this product that talks about audio quaility? The specs on the their website don't show any wattage specs nor do they answer the phone or answer their chats... I do not have the 9 speaker system in my 2010 only the 6 speaker system with the same crappy headunit everyone else hates. Thoughts?
Well I can't really say I'm an audiophile by any means, but it does well enough. Does it compare to a high end unit, no. I can hear some distortion on the top of the volume and being this runs through the Boston system isn't stellar. I really wanted it for the navigation which my MYLINK didn't have and the apple carplay feature, both work good. It's a mini computer and I sometimes get lost in its behind the scenes GUI, but on the front side it does good. If you have NAV and plug in with Apple car play already, I wouldn't spend the money to go to this. I also got this because the rotary knob was in the way of my gauge like I mentioned in the video. If you're a serious audiophile and must have clean, clear sounds, I would look elsewhere. Crutchfield used to have good stuff and good info if their still around. Thanks for watching, hope that answered your question
There are better head units out there for sure. My biggest problem has been the unit will stop Pandora near certain cell towers and then not restart Pandora unless I reset it.
Hey what’s up just wanted to ask if you had any form of social media? Instagram, or facebook..somewhere I could message you and ask some questions regarding your coil over installation?
I have Instagram, but don't use it much for communicating. The best way is to DM me on the Camaro5 forum. I'm also only running BTR springs with magride shocks, not aftermarket coilers. Thanks for watching.

Yea, I figured that out later in the video but had already done the job of adding the camera. That's ok. it still works
Did you have any problems with this unit??
Best install ever dude
It is possible to unplug the radio and use the Dashboard kit to put another??

How is this holding up so far? I've read from others the screen didn't last, and issues with ac controls.
My only issue is it freeZes up on Pandora near certain cell towers. Something with the WiFi.
According to the techs at Digital Octopus you're supposed to be able to connect to the existing factory microphone.
Cool. Post a link please

The USB-GB1 cable does not fit my 2014 LT Camaro. It has a different cable going to the radio evidently. Any idea what I can use?
thank you so much bro, excellent video, i ha installed mine yesterday and it works great
Cool, they do take some getting used to, especially to get back to the A/C controls.

I’m looking for the cable that connects to the phone. The dongle i believe it’s called. Where can i get it. @fasnuf
Oh what about xm radio?
I like the ac control knobs. But I can see why you didn’t like them. These screens are pretty awesome though.
the new a/c controls are a bit of a pain to use, but I dont adjust them enough to care
I'm having trouble with ac controls
Loved the video 👌🏽😮💨 really loved the USB hack that was amazing!
Awesome, Thank you
Does your ac and hazard lights stay lit up after you turn your car off?
Doe it works steering wheel buttons?
Yes
I did the same but I can only hear the radio and car sounds but I can't hear bluethoot
I have trouble sometimes too. I think you have to select it on the phone after getting in the car.
Cuando usas el encendido a distancia también enciende el aire acondicionado???
I don’t have remote start. Sorry
Thanks for watching.
I have started the car manually and the air conditioning was on so I think it will be in the last mode you leave it previously.
Does it seem that your AC dont feel as cold as the OEM head unit?
No difference at all. Thanks for watching. I do lose Pandora when I get near certain cell towers though unless I'm using bluetooth instead of WiFi
How do I change my language back to English

does it have controls for heated seats? Also does the heads up display still work?

I connect with the TLINKS app. See if that helps. I also have wifi on the stereo on and my phones wifi connects to the radio that way.
Nice work 💯
I couldn't figure out how to do Apple CarPlay, help me out?
Did you have the TLink app loaded and WiFi connected to the radio. I'm still learning this thing myself cuz I've hardly used it since the install.

no problems like that. I've had it just quit and need restarted though.
@@fasnuf does that everytime I reverse….
Your HVAC controls are now in the radio?
Correct, no physical knobs outside
