That cage match should've never happened fr, multiple people got injured in that match and Alex Coughlin had to end his wrestling career because of that match. Imo that was one of the worst matches in NJPW, due to the fact that literally everyone in that match got hurt in some form. Wtf were they even doing? Trying to kill each other fr? What a bunch of idiots

This is a misleading title and he's NOT laughing at it in celebration. He's doing the same thing some of us military veterans have done when we've been injured and recount something. The "unbelievabilty" of it often brought on a 'WTF' chuckle. OAN, BIG UP to Al for explaining how Ospreay reacted.
To be fair I'm sure at the time he wasn't laughing, but can laugh now because he's ok, and the craziness of it all

Agreed, it's how a lot of people work through a scary situation after the fact. Once you know everyone is ok you try and look at the humourous side.
I don't like modern wrestling or Will Osprey and I get where Al is coming from, but they're kinda making too much out of him laughing.
I think that's definitely what it was. But y'all are missing the point of the segment. Vince knew that which is why he laid out when Al (the show's wrestling Expert) explained everything so perfectly and simply. If you notice, Vince didn't disagree with anything Al said. The "chaos" comment at the end I think placed a nice bow on this because it ties in to why Vince and Al discuss injuries every week. And that point is that too many of the talent take "non-necessary" (a vinceism evidently) risks by relying primarily on dangerous stunts just for the sake of doing the stunt or whatever.

People deal with traumatic situations in different ways it's all coping mechanisms

I don’t think it was a laughing matter in the moment. Al is absolutely right about unnecessary risk that doesn’t really make for great storytelling. Some of my favorite matches had participants that never left the ground or used a chair or non wrestling item. But this was more like nervous laughter. But the increased stunting is ridiculous.

Ospreay tries to be one of those English street thug hooligans but he comes across as an immature dork. I watched the highlights of Ospreay vs Rey Fenix and it looked like synchronized wrestling performed by gymnasts. No selling, no ring psychology, no crowd interaction, just jumpy flippy whatever you wanna call it. If that's Meltzer and Tony Khan's golden boy he's not very impressive there's so much bouncy castle wrestlers in that company he's just another one.

I wasn't even there (Jim Cornette's Davey Boy Smith voice), but in spite of revisionist history, Russo was a major factor to WWF's nirvana period. Plus, renaming The Bucks as Generation Me is... UNDERRATED: Their current gimmick & psychology encapsulates the inference of the name. Russo just does himself no favors by not owning up to his blunders and he, like none of us, lay nothing but golden eggs.

This is exactly why i stopped watching A&W a year ago. Yeah ospreay is a decent wrestler, but i don't want to watch blood matches. Wrestling is a soap opera, like a martial arts film. i don't care about promos, i do care about good storytelling. Al is 100% right. its not about popping the viewers or audience, its about 1 up-ing the boys in the locker room. i call it crap wrestling.
Let me make this perfectly clear. Denise Salcedo might be the sweetest girl alive and she actually looks like a genuine fun girl. Now….speaking constructively, I skip every single thing she does for Busted Open, and any podcast she participates in because she must’ve missed a lot of important classes in journalism (if she attended) because journalism 101 = I’ve never seen a talking head YELL completely 100% vocally with no such concept of vocal dynamics and speaking softer and louder other times when it’s warranted. Trust me. Go try. She speaks at 10,000 volume level ALL THE TIME regardless of what she asks about. She could talk about Owen’s death fall from the rafters at 100% vocal screaming cringe range with no breaks or valleys in between whatsoever. Seems very nice but not for me and never will.

What annoys me about todays wrestling is these guys doing a bunch of crazy spots and not selling them. Like they go back and forth smashing each other and no sell the moves. Then they go on to have wayyy tooo many near falls. Its like a million 2 count kick outs. Its too much. I don't mind 3 or 4 near falls that makes it exciting, however a dozen near falls. Also everyone prostitutes their finishers now. They'll kick out of a finishing move then lose to basic move. Its almost like the agents or the takent themselves don't no how to put on a match without it looking too choreographed.

Very common opinion to have, seems like. I'm a WWE fan, so a couple of my friends invited me over to watch AEW with them once. I honestly gave it ye ol college try. I wanted to like it. Then I saw Orange Cassidy kicking shins and their fans just acting like it's the greatest thing they've ever seen. The legends they have clearly don't have much left to give. And the younger guys don't care about longevity or good story telling. But hey to each their own right?
