    This is by far the most practical, direct, and informative review of this lens.

    Love this review. I think this what I wanted to know before picking up the lens, so in retrospect, you hit the nail here. I love my Sigma 24-70mm. It's very versatile and keeps me moving. I wish there was a comparable lens from Sigma for the APS-C sensors, 16-55mm f/2. I'd pick that in a heartbeat.

    Just picked this up used in excellent condition from Adorama for 1000. I feel like this will be a great all around lens for run and gun street photography. Thanks for the review!

    Sigma 24-70 had the dust issue with lenses whose serial number was 5504XXXX and below. Sigma was cleaning them for free and repairing them.

    Would have loved to see more info about the build quality, buttons and low light performance. That aside, you nailed it 100%! And also brought the correct comparisons. I would never pay 2x the price for similar performance myself. Greetings from a Lumix S5 guy 👋

      Not sure I understand low light performance factor and how one discerns camera vs lens issue. I imagine it functions the same

    Yes I am impressed with this lenses bokeh. It looks more like prime bokeh than zoom.

    Hey Great Video! I've had this lens for over a year and I can never seem to get rid of the vignetting in post when using lens corrections. What kind of corrections do you do to fix the vignetting?

    • @TonyDae
      @TonyDae  Год назад +1

      I use Capture One and use the lens profile, set vignette correction to 100. If I need more than that, I increase it even more, but generally that's good enough. Every 24-70 f2.8 I have used suffers from vignetting to some degree and I don't find it to be a problem in normal use for what I do. If I am shooting wide open, where vignette is the worst, I usually ADD vignette anyways to draw the eye to the subject, so it doesn't matter. For landscapes, vignette is mostly corrected with the normal lens corrections.
      If you are doing image critical work like reproductions, you might want to use a good prime lens instead.

    This isn't a cinema lens, as you stated. What would you recommend for a cinema lens?

    • @TonyDae
      @TonyDae  2 года назад +2

      I would not recommend cine lenses with Sony cameras like the fx3 really as I think the strength of the system is its autofocus capability, which you will lose with cine lenses.
      If you are looking for cine glass though, the first thing you should consider is the look you are going for with your set and if you are looking for primes or a zoom package. Without that information, it would be difficult for anybody to give a good recommendation.

    • @TonyDae
      @TonyDae  2 года назад

      @@stevegeorge7773 The one to my screen right is a 4K monitor. Just behind me is an older HD monitor. That older monitor is kind of dying on me so I will likely be replacing it with another 4K monitor.

      @@TonyDae You wouldn't consider going higher, to 6 or even 8K? The OLEDs. I am just curious about what you think about the future proofing in this area with the cameras coming out.

    • @TonyDae
      @TonyDae  2 года назад

      There is no such thing as future proofing. It's an impossible endeavor because we have not idea what the future looks like, we can only guess. For all we know in ten years everything goes metaverse or some other insane idea.
      Decent 4k monitors are already pretty expensive so an 8k monitor with proper gamut coverage is not at all in my price range even if those exist.

    If you bought the lens from Amazon the 7 year sigma warranty does no apply and you have to pay out of pockets. Also if you have money to burn the Sony 2470 f2.8 GM II is also available.
    Anything below 5504xxxx will accumulate dust particles my came with 5628xxx

    • @TonyDae
      @TonyDae  2 года назад

      7 year warranty?
      There is an extended warranty for US buyers and that warranty extends to 4 years and only if it is from an authorized dealer, meaning buying from random people on Amazon may not allow you to get the full warranty. You should ALWAYS buy new from an established seller to guarantee you are not receiving gray market, knockoffs, or other problematic versions of lenses.
      Yes the Sony GMII is available.
      Any versions with dust issues can be sent in to Sigma for repair free of charge which is supposed to fix the issue, as discussed in video.

    So all new sigma 24-70 won’t have the dust issues anymore?

    • @TonyDae
      @TonyDae  2 года назад

      According to sigma that small batch manufacturing issue has been solved. Dust gets into any lens regardless of how good the sealing is though so there's no guarantee you'll get no dust at all.

    • @TonyDae

      @@amohammed5181 Mine did not need to be fixed. There was a small batch with issues so unless you have had yours checked by Sigma, for all you know, yours has the proper sealing.
