The 767 has been in service for decades, long enough that airframes are being retired to the desert. Proven, reliable, still in service around the world. 767 production was ending except this has now extended it, as well as a few freighters for the package haulers.
Seems odd to me that there are no winglets; is the basic design that out of date? Won't this mean more turbulence for the aircraft being refueled, and reduced performance for the tanker itself?
+Abdullraheem Alaawdhi ...that will likely be the frame of choice to replace the KC-10 fleet in the distant future (the KC-46 is slated to replace the KC-135)
+SAM V (Sam737) Yeah you're right they should directly sell it why test it ? I mean it's just a modified 767....it's not like if it has new flight control modes and several structural and cockpit modifications...
+Boekan Arsheetec Well basically its a Boeing ... and ... its more expensive .... and ... its late....and ....its smaller so needs less hangar space ... But basically the US Taxpayers have been ripped off ...
It might not be a 'better' plane by itself (although I'm certain it'll do the job just fine) - however there's alot of $$$, jobs, and of course ego involved here.
When you will done the thrue about teletransportation to Mars planet to the public I will say congratulations;,after that time I say congratullatins too. pleasensye now tht trhue about antigraviy tegnology
Congrats Boeing! Can't wait to see this bird flying in the airforce

A real beauty. Well done :D

I wonder if you guys can turn a 777 into a multi-tanker?well done guys!

i don't get it, why is it "a big deal" ? sure it's a first test flight but is it not "just" a modified 767 ?
well all those people built the plane and it feels good too succseed..
+SAM V (Sam737) The devil is in the details...
+SAM V (Sam737) Marketing. Nothing more and nothing less.

Plus it has a -400 tail section on it.
Reliable tankers mean more Stealth missions over 10,000 miles any day of the week. "Reach out and touch someone, reach out and just say 'Hi!'"
beautiful plane Boeing!
im going to add this to my list of new aircraft boeing has made your leading ahead of airbus boeing
good job Boeing another great Plane.
Primeiro como sempre , mereço conhecer a Fábrica da Boeing hahaha ☺☺☺
love you guys
will they make the eco liner
I❤️767
767=coolest plane ever!
What makes this tanker better than that offering from Airbus-Northrop?
+Boekan Arsheetec
Well basically its a Boeing ... and ... its more expensive .... and ... its late....and ....its smaller so needs less hangar space ...

+Boekan Arsheetec Politics.
+Boekan Arsheetec smaller size, can fit better.
soccerguy2433
Got to be a first when the Yanks prefer smaller ...

Looks like a DC10 without the tail engine almost.
Actually the Refuelling boom was from the KC-10 Extender.
I wished it was the 787, but understandably the economics and the competition just wouldn't agree..
Good job, Boeing :)
Finally...
Max altitude of FL350?
+Josh McCorquodale exactly. i cant even
Is this a newly-built aircraft, or are they just modifying old existing 767's?
New aircraft
Why was this so far behind and over budget while there's other KC-767's flying in other airforces, even with flying booms?
+Eric Taylor
Because Boeing shareholders called in the favours from their fully paid up Senators ....
good..

Haha, hilarious. KC-45 wins the contract- Boeing throw their toys out the pram- USAF are forced to revert and choose an inferior KC-46!
Can't wait to see how it operates during our next war. Oh, wait...I won't be privy to that experience.
.
Isn't this the aircraft where the bidding rules were tailored to keep Airbus off?
AMERICA
what the ffffff is so special about this ugly non-sense airplane?????
