My dad was a pilot. Inspired by Lindbergh as a kid, he earned his pilot's license while he was in high school. He earned his wings in 1942, then flew out of England and Italy, and continued to fly planes past his 80th birthday. He was an aerospace engineer for Boeing in the 1960s and 1970s. This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The wings on that plane are gorgeous. I wish Dad could have seen this. Cheers to the Boeing team and test pilots Mike Bryan and Randy Neville. There's no way it could be as easy as you guys make it look.

I love the way she levels out and drops a little altitude after the steep climb out around 38 sec to 43 sec.
At one minute... the way her wings bow up and back, reminds me of the Spirit of Ecstasy. very sleek.
and at 1:14 - 1:20 , the wings bobble -- banking left , right then level.
    A lovely flying machine.
    Well done Boeing.

One thing we do well in America is building airplanes. Boeing is one of the best. Years ago (1980's and 1990's) my job took me to Boeing, Grumman, McDonald-Douglas, General Dynamics, Martin-Marietta and other aerospace companies. I was getting my private pilot license when back at home in Addison, Tx on the weekends. I loved my job because I was able to see such cool aviation stuff. I was able to see F-15s being built in St. Louis, F-16s being built in Ft. Worth, MD-11s in Long Beach, Boeing 747s in Everett, an SR-71 landing at Andrews and Air Force One. Missile construction at Martin-Marietta near Kissimmee, Florida. Heck I was able to see a shuttle launch and got a tour of the VAB at NASA and so many other things. Cherished memories. I don't fly my 172 anymore but I am proud of American accomplishments. Planes are in our DNA. Orville and Wilbur would agree (been to Kitty Hawk many times too). Nothing better than to see an F-15E flyover at an airshow with ground pounding power while in after-burner. What I would give to be one of those pilots.

Sometimes I wonder if Boeing makes art that flies or planes that are art. This plane is the perfect blend of art function grace power and capability. Watching it take off almost strait up like that was amazing. I imagine it was running 10% of its total fuel load and no passengers or cargo so won't do that in normal revenue flight but amazing just the same.

After struggling with their A350 as an answer to the Boeing 787, yesterday at the Farnborough International Air Show Airbus unveiled its plan instead to redesign their A330 Neo. But the Boeing 787-9 really got everyone's attention when it took to the sky. Earlier this week in Moses Lake, the 787-9 put on a spectacular show in preparation for Farnborough. See for yourself, it is pretty awesome!

That is an engineering marvel right there. That thing handles like a fighter, only massive. I've seen commercial jets fly formations and such, but never such tight turns and sharp changes in pitch. Never such agility. Guess this is what happens when nearly the entire thing is composites. Truly awesome.

Gostei!

Johnson was made famous for doing a barrel-roll in the 707 over Lake Washington during the 707 initial public demonstration, without even notifying anyone in Boeing that he was going to do it.

hi, i was thinking somedays some days ago, on the touch in landig, the landing gears are stopped, when the plane touch the runway he create a very hard impact. If the tires were in the same velocity of the plane the consume of rubber and the impact are so diminished. Wold not beneficious use the force of the air in the aproximate to rotate the gears to adequate the velocity of the plane with the gears? (sorry for my poor english)

    • @tracywilkinson1820
      @tracywilkinson1820 9 лет назад +2

to pre-rotate the tires would require additional needless equipment which adds weight and complexity. More weight= less fuel/passengers/range which increases cost per seat per mile. Tires on the other hand are relatively cheap.

Yes, with sure this equipment will increase the weight of the airplane, but, i believe the economy with the new tire will compense the more consume of fuel..

Marcos Paulo Spinning the wheels before landing causes gyroscopic problems that impact maneuverability in flight.

Wait a minute? is this video real? i don't think so! I mean for people who are not blind they should see that at 2:47 the plane is obviously fake?

It's amazing to see the capabilities of this aircraft in motion. This video blew me away. It's just awesome a plane of this size can move like that in the air.

It's not a computer simulation. It's a really good camera work, and it's the real thing. They did practice run before the Airshow in France this week...well, today, actually.

The plane only needs one engine and it is empty. Most people are only used to seeing what they see at an airport. Some of that is side and forward slipping, which is used to loose altitude without gaining airspeed.

Amazing and very beautiful demonstration. Striking cool, WOW look at the maneuverability of the airplane, talk about flight testing, they must have been pulling like 7 to 8 G's pulling those kind of turns and climbs. I love the flexibility and sexy smooth flush design of the Dreamliner. So inspirational, very nice indeed. Can wait to fly on one...one day God willing.

i dont think any other aircraft like a jet airliner could do a steep takeoff like this, so why it wouldnt be able to do a barrelroll?

Although some of the shots seem impossible to capture but the credit to the pilots who piloted this aircraft and the name of the company that worked on the air to air footage at the end of the video does not make this a CGI.

Parts of the video were sped up in editing. Watch the red blinking light on the under belly... it always blinks at a constant rate (0:25 to 0:30), but in one shot (0:38 to 0:48) it blinks twice as fast as the others and the video is noticeably choppy... in another it's sped up by about +1/3 (2:12 to 2:25).
Here is a unedited view of the normal blink speed.
