Loyalty starts off with a chilling scene with Wesley consumed by the prophecy ' the father will kill the son' and his hands covered in blood. Angel with the little baby clothes is funny. Great scene with Aubrey comin on to Wesley and then Angel takes over and threatens her and Holtz, and then afterwards Holtz confronts Wesley. A great ending too after the earthquake when Wesley sees the blood again. We just know this is going to lead to something bad.

When it comes to babies to TV series weird things happen. Married with children the baby just vanished like it never was. Desperate Housewives had a time jump of 5 years leaving one character suddenly with 2 daughters and no explanation. With the very limited time permitted it's just easier to figure out a way to eliminate the baby/child or age them all too often without explanation.
So this prophecy seems to be a good way to eliminate the baby.

Checking IMDB Its possible, She did appear in 'What Boys Like' which was released in 2003/04, its possible that was filmed in early 2002 when this episode of Angel would have been filmed. But its more likely she'd have filmed it during the break between S3 and S4.
What I do recall is that the fandom speculated wildly on her absence, and there were plenty of rumors that I wont bother to repeat (I don't believe any of them had any basis of fact).
There was never really a clear explanation as to why Charisma Carpenter was absent. Where as we know of actors missing an episode to get married, and character's whose episode contributions featured them either laying in bed or sitting down, due to medical conditions that the actors had. We knew Seth Green (Oz) was absent from S3 of Buffy as he was doing a film. We also know that sometimes characters just don't fit in the episode and are omitted like Spike not appearing in the Body. There are also cases where the character was supposed to appear in one scene, but the episode ran long and the scene was cut, leaving to an omission. In all of these cases this information was released and known at the time by the fandom. Carpenter's absence never had that.
I think it probably was just from a story basis as Cordy's absence changed the other characters interaction allowing for stories to progress in a manner they would not have if Cordy had been present. But the writers couldn't really say so at the time and this absence of information lead to the rumors. But I suppose it could have been to film 'What Boy's Like'.

I’ve read comments and seen reactions to this episode and a lot of them try to rationalize Angel’s comment about a “snack” being the blood in his fridge. NO. A “snack” is a small meal, less than breakfast, lunch or dinner. Considering that vampires consider fully grown humans as a “meal”, wouldn’t a baby, technically, be a “snack”?

He's making a (poorly timed) joke about the blood he's bleeding out onto the blanket. Why do so few people seem to get that?

I'll never understand how none of the reactors I've watched who've seen this episode don't realize that all Angel is doing is making a bad dad joke about his own blood when he says "At least I'd have something to snack on" NOT Connor.
