  • In this fifth episode of My Favorite Parts, we take a look at HO Slot Car armatures and bushings. We will look at the difference between an 'endbell' armature and a 'brush barrel' armature. Installation and spacing of bushings is discussed.

    Was really anticipating this edition and you didn't disappoint. I especially appreciate the explanation of timing and your associating the different magnet strengths with the various ohm ratings of the arms. Lots of people don't realize that these individual parts form a system where the performance of each part is interdependent on the other parts.
    There's no "magic bullet" in the equation. It all has to balance out.

    For my home track I like 3 ohm level 10 motor magnet with level 4 traction magnet viper chassis with m1 tires … it’s fast slightly loose and needs driven

    Terry, thank your for the Indepth information on the armatures. I knew the timing was 90 degrees different and then it's 45 degrees on the armature. I have never heard of soldering the pinion and using metal gears. How much downforce do you need to keep from stripping the plastic? Oh yeah, saw a couple tools for the endbell bearing. Still, how about a video showing replacement of the shoes? Happy Holidays.
